Further Details:

Fantastic for walkers! Boscastle is in an Area Of Outstanding Beauty. Boscastle is more than than just a picturesque natural harbour and village. Apart from the Witches museum, popular harbourside cafes and restaurants, enjoy the villages environs - a lot of the land around Boscastle is owned by the National Trust. A cliff path takes you to the Willapark headland and an intriguing ex-folly, now used as a Coastwatch lookout, nearby walks around Forrabury Stitches offer a rare glimpse at a surviving farmed landscape showing ancient celtic strip fields. Further cliff walks will take you to old churches of Minster and St Juliots - made famous by Thomas Hardy. In Boscastle itself: The Old Forge is now an artist's studio and gallery with a National Trust shop and tea room and Visitors Centre. Next door is the well preserved Lime Kiln. The Museum of Witchcraft first opened its doors in 1961 becoming an iconic attraction and one of the most popular museums in Cornwall. Usually open from Easter to Halloween. Boscastle's Bathing pool can be seen at low tide on the South side of the harbour. This was cut out of the rock on the instructions of the Lord of the Manor during Victorian times. The Blowhole or Devil's Bellows on the edge of the harbour usually erupts within an hour or so of low tide. Take the lovely Minster Church & Valency Valley walk - follow the picturesque River Valency through fields and woods, crossing a small bridge and along the wooded hillside to historic Minster Church, with option to proceed to St Juliot's Church with more Hardy connections and walk by the Old Rectory where Thomas Hardy met Emma, his first wife.
