About the Owner

We have been visiting Boscastle for the last 40 years and decided to buy a cottage in 2011. It is very much a home from home for us and we visit whenever we can. We love the village and the area and we enjoy letting other people share the wonderful experience of staying in the village.

Guestbook comments from the owner

It was quite a task finding the right accommodation for us, a family of

six, in the area of Boscastle.

After reading the reviews on ownersdirect.co.uk we decided to book

Sharrocks cottage, our expectations were high.

We stayed for 14 days at Sharrocks cottage and weren't disappointed, it

delivered on all fronts.

For a start Sharrocks cottage is large enough for six people.

(we've often stayed in accommodation for six people where the there is

just about enough room for five!)

The accommodation was clean, fully equipped and all of the appliances

worked correctly. Our children we're more than pleased with the

excellent Wifi.

Our favorite room was the Snug!, while the kids watched TV we made full

use of this to read and relax. A very important area when you have a

large family.

The amount of local information in the cottage was impressive and there

were lots of small things that, added together, made our stay easy and

There was a delicious cake on arrival, dishwasher tablets, washing op

liquid, washing liquid, salt, pepper, herbs, toilet paper, dvd's and the

beds were already made up.

We've never had such complete accommodation before.

Sharrocks is an excellent base for discovering the North Cornish coast,

whether walking the coast path or visiting the many historic locations.

Our days were spent walking coastal paths, regular visits to Bodmin moor

and enjoying the rural atmosphere. Many an evening we were down by the

harbour in Boscacstle or in the Napoleon Inn enjoying the local ales.

This is probably the last holiday where all of the children will be with

us, they are now at an age that they want to go their own way and

therefore we are doubly pleased that we chose Sharrocks cottage as a base.

The experience and satisfaction has been second to none.

Thank you Bob and Fi.

Lovely well equipped cottage

  • 5 of 5

We were impressed with the owners attitude when they were flexible about the start date, allowing us to arrive on Sunday for 7 nights, which other properties had not allowed.

When we got there the cottage was perfect, spacious and very well equipped. Ideal base for the coastal path, we didn't need to use our car for most of the week. Great walking from the door and lovely village. The Napolian Inn a few doors away serves good food.

A lovely cottage in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We had a superb holiday in this lovely cottage. We (1 adult and 3 children) booked a half term holiday here at relatively short notice and couldn't have had a better time. The cottage was tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean, very well equipped and struck a very good balance between the lovely traditional features and modern conveniences. The beds were comfortable with crisp cotton bedlinen, the bedrooms airy and light, the kitchen was excellent and the sitting areas comfortable and cozy. The sun shone and we spent days on the nearby beaches and evenings jumping in to Boscastle Harbour at high tide-great fun! We will be back! Thank you Fi and Bob for allowing us to stay in your superb cottage.

beautiful retreat

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved this cottage. We had such an amazing time with our kids and dogs. It has everything you need and is homely, clean and comfortable. The harbour is a short walk down the hill and you are rewarded with beautiful scenery. There's good crabbing to be had in the harbour and loads of beaches and attractions near by. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend.

Cornish comfort

  • 5 of 5

This was our first visit to Sharrocks Cottage in Boscastle. It is a spacious home, with a well -equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. The house is suitable for both younger and older children and we made good use of the games room.

There is a well-stocked supermarket, a good pub and a bakery within walking distance of the cottage. It is well situated for walking the South West coastal path and there is plenty to do within the surrounding area of Boscastle.

We would recommend both the cottage and Boscastle as a great base from which to explore North Cornwall.

A beautiful home from home

  • 5 of 5

This was our first visit to Sharrocks Cottage and we visited as we were on our 'minimoon' after our wedding.

The cottage was easy to find and we didn't have any hassle in the whole of our stay in parking. We managed to park a few yards away from the cottage.

The cottage was perfectly equipped for everything you needed during your stay.

Lovely comfortable beds and fantastic wifi were some of the highlights for us.

The cottage was spacious considering it was built a long time ago.

We are already planning our next trip back and cannot wait to return. The cottage is a great base camp for exploring Cornwall and Devon.

The Napoleon Inn
The Cobweb Inn

From the Owner

Sharrocks Cottage is full of history and located in the heart of the old village.

Activity and Interests

Fantastic coastline & beaches: the lovely harbour is 10mins walk down the hill. Best surfing beaches are Trebarwith Strand (15mins' drive), Polzeath (25mins) and Watergate Bay (Newquay) (40mins). Many other sandy beaches in the area incl. Crackington Haven (15mins) and Widemouth Bay/Bude (20mins).

The local area is full of attractions and activities for visitors including the Camel Trail (cycling), Tintagel Castle, Bodmin Moor/Jamaica Inn, Bodmin Steam Railway, Crealy Adventure Park and many many more.

Getting to Boscastle: Bodmin railway station: (35 mins/taxi); Exeter Airport (60 mins/care hire). Local buses connect with Bude & Wadebridge.

Further details: the village is famous for its beautiful harbour setting, picturesque cottages and quaintness of a Cornish fishing village. It is both a friendly locals' village and a lovely place to stay with plenty of shops, restaurants, garage and excellent pubs that have a great reputation.

The National Trust owns large areas around the village with free access for walks around the coastal headlands and inland up the beautiful Valency Valley. Four old churches (including Thomas Hardy's St Juliots) are well worth a visit. Further afield the Camel Trail (cycle track on an old railway) is a great bike ride alongside the estuary to Padstow.

There is so much more to explore with Bodmin, the Gardens of Heligan & Eden Project and many castles, museums and historic houses within easy striking distance. Boscastle has an excellent range of shops. The Information centre right on the harbour attached to the National Trust shop as well as a Spar, bakery, green grocer, hairdresser and clothing stores. A village shop is two minutes' walk from the cottage and a farm shop with restaurant and amazing sea views is just on the edge of the village.
