Lovingly refurnished by local craftsmen Inverae Cottage welcomes you to relax on a comfy sofa, surrounded by locally handmade ash, oak and yew furniture, finished with cosy Harris Tweed furnishings. The cottage is located in the beautiful village of Minard with breathtakingly beautiful views of Loch Fyne and the local mountains. With four separate outdoor seating zones in the Cottage's large landscaped garden designed to follow the rising and setting of the sun you can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner and evening drinks outside, whilst listening to the soothing soundtrack of birdsong. However at times you will need to share...with red squirrel, pheasants, grouse, local deer, woodpeckers, bees and butterflies. At night the dark skies are covered with stars and the moonlight glistens on the Loch. The cottage is an ideal base for exploring this stunning part of Scotland. The Mull of Kintyre (with its long and winding road made famous by Paul McCartney), Crinan Canal, Oban, Tarbert, Arran, Bute are some of the many possible day trips from the cottage.

In 2009 we discovered a run down cottage hiding in an overgrown garden. Using local tradesmen and craftsmen we renovated and modernised the cottage and garden. It is a perfect location to enjoy and use as a base to tour the local area that has undoubtedly some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.

Peace, quiet, a place to recharge and refresh either by sitting in the garden enjoying the local wildlife and views or by using the cottage as a handy base to explore the local area.

A sweet homely cottage that was relaxing and quite.

We loved the cottage but there was a few things such as the drive up to the cottage been full of potholes and not great for a car. We did ask if the track was ok for cars and we were told is was fine. There were areas of the track that could do with improving and filling in to make it safer for cars. Also there were quite alot of cobwebs and dust in the house which could do with a bit more of a clean. We appreciate it is a old cottage and spiders come with that but cobwebs in door ways ect should of been seen on the clean. Also drying facilities in the cottage are not great as the bathroom is quite damp and nothing drys. An airer to dry clothes on in the sitting room would be better as the fire make that room warm and ideal for drying clothes. Other than that it is a very homely cottage and we had a very relaxing time. The sofa is lovely and comfortable and the kitchen and bathroom have been done to a high standard. Lovely area with a beautiful view of the loch.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. I am glad you had a relaxing time! The access road is a shared farm track maintained by the houses using it - unfortunately, it does get pot holes from time to time which are then repaired. We'll speak to the farmer about these new ones. We'll certainly get a replacement clothes horse straightaway for drying clothes in the sitting room. Best, Craig

Good standard, room for improvement

Property was nicely furnished and well stocked on first impression. Plenty of logs for the fire available and a kitchen with ample utensils/dishes (although no toaster). Was a fine location for us as we had a big 4x4 however the drive up to the house might be too much for smaller or lower to the ground cars that don't cope well with potholes. The weather was absolutely fantastic during our stay, and although cold outside it was fairly easy to keep the house warm enough - the floors are very cold though especially in the kitchen and bathroom, I would recommend bringing slippers. The bathtub is a great size too and we were able to fill it up with plenty of hot water without any problem.

Some areas where this listing could be improved would be the Wifi as it cut out every extremely frequently; the TV is also quite small; the couch was much too soft for our taste, as was the bed; the choice of pillows on the bed was not to our taste either as one was far too hard and the other too soft; there was a lot of dust in the house as well - mostly behind or under furniture, it appeared that only a surface attempt to hoover had been made; and finally after running a bath in the evening one night we were unable to get any hot water until the next morning - this caused some problems when we were trying to do the dishes after dinner.

Overall however many attempts were made to make our trip as comfortable as possible and we gratefully appreciate that. We had a lovely trip, the highlight of the house for us being the well stocked kitchen and the roaring fire, and of course the proximity to Inveraray and all it has to offer.

Beautiful, relaxing & comfertable.

My partner & I absolutly loved our stay at Inverae Cottage. It was quiet, relaxing & very cosy. It has enough "old" style touches but with the mod cons. Nothing felt out of place. We left refreshed & recharged. Can't wait until next year to do it all again!

Magical, perfect quiet escape for a honeymoon

Just perfect, loved the cottage which was clean and well maintained with awesome views. loads to do even in the off season, will be rebooking for the anniversary next year as soon as we have saved up enough.

Beautiful cottage in a great location

Inverae Cottage is a beautifully restored stone cottage that has been furnished with care and a passion for local materials. It is equipped to a high standard and very comfortable. It is both cosy and spacious; just right for two people. The library of books, maps and local information was fantastic and really appreciated. The garden has lovely places to sit and take in the changing moods of Loch Fyne or look at the night sky. The cottage is a great base for visits all over Argyll, as well as just a short walk away from treasures such as the Crarae gardens. Our week-long stay was just not long enough for all of the things we wanted to do within easy reach of Inverae Cottage.
