“absolutely wonderful”

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2015

we could not recommend this beautiful villa highly enough. Location is excellent and setting is very peaceful but close to all amenities. The house was spotless and pool wonderful. We cannot wait to go back next year and regret that we only booked one week. Thanks to all who made this a wonderful holiday.

Wonderfully restful family week in a great area

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely property for 6 people or perhaps 8 if the downstairs put-up beds are used. The pool is wonderful and the plot is huge giving at least 3 or 4 different sitting areas for eating outside. We had one meal inside on the night of arrival. The upstairs kitchen is small but well equipped with another downstairs opening out onto the pool area. There are shower rooms upstairs and downstairs. If all of you want showers at the same time in the evening you may need to share out the hot water. The property is very clean and beautifully presented. Shutters and blinds help to keep the house cool whilst out.

Lounge area is large and comfortable with good reception. The local village has a small but well stocked shop for essentials and supermarkets at Trebes are excellent as is the local market and boulangerie.

The area is beautiful and steeped in history. We visited many castles and abbeys as well of course, Carcassonne which must be seen. Lassoers, Lagrasse, Narbonne and Toulouse all worth trips. After a week here we drove to Barcelona for a three night stay which was also very good.

No wifi here which can be an advantage but not for our grown up children. However, we obtained wifi with the hire care which was cheaper than a satnav and gave us the benefit of both.

We would recommend this highly and hope to return.

The Villa lived up to it's write up. Great layout with the pool room downstairs, fully equipped. Very well maintained throughout which made you feel comfortable on arrival.Excellent pool for the family, regularly maintained by Martin who was helpful with local knowledge. Garage full of sports equipment for all the family.

The restaurants in Trebes just 10 minutes drive away are excellent and dining by the Canal on a warm summers evening is superb. The area is steeped in medieval culture and Carcassonne Cite is a must, shame about so many tourists inside the Cite. A visit to O'Vineyards is a good half day out learn about wine and enjoy a lunch with the American owners. The village has a small supermarket and a bar for local needs.

I would recommend this villa to anyone wanting a quiet retreat but close to all the region has to offer.

From the Owner

We bought the property when all our children were very young and have enjoyed countless memorable holidays here. Our property is very well situated to enjoy everything that this area has to offer. We go fishing in the local rivers, spend many happy days at Carcassonne Plage, visit the Mediterranean/Costa Brava beaches and the Pyrenees are within a reasonable driving distance. We spend many enjoyable warm evenings dining by the canal side in Trebes with it's great variety of restaurants. La Cite in Carcassonne is a truly unique place and can be explored during the day or evening and offers a large variety of restaurants and boutiques. We love to watch the spectacular Bastilles day fireworks there and enjoy the festival and concerts that are held throughout July.

From the Owner

We chose our property for it's desirable location, outdoor space and pool area. Although we do have neighbours the villa is not overlooked and feels private. The village centre with it's amenities is just a five minute stroll away where the children regularly collect the fresh bread and croissants in the morning. The pool is often a welcome relief from the hot afternoon sun and we often swim well into the evenings. We mustn't forget to mention the amazing sunsets which can be enjoyed over a glass of something whilst relaxing on the balcony. Although we do spend lazy days at the villa there is also an abundance of activities on our doorstep.
