Traditional 18th Century Cosy Cottage In The Centre Of Moffat

Overview

Property

Updated: 22-Nov-2016
Cottage in Moffat, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland - Pet Friendly And Only A Few Minutes Walk From Local Amenities And The Peaceful Riverside

Lazydays is a traditional 18th century two-bedroom cottage which sleeps four people. Well-behaved dogs are very welcome but be aware the cottage has no garden, however the riverside is a five minute walk and is a popular area for dog walking. Located in the centre of Moffat, close to both the market square and the peaceful riverside, the cottage is only a few minutes walk from an array of local shops, pubs, restaurants and amenities. Please note: because it is a traditional cottage the stairs are steep with a narrow step landing from bedrooms to bathroom. Care must be taken at all times when exiting these rooms. This may cause a problem for anyone with limited mobility, the very elderly or families with very young children. The cottage is a non-smoking property. Moffat is a historic Spa Town nestled in the hills of the Southern Upland Way and surrounded by some of the region's most spectacular scenery such as the Grey Mare's Tail, St. Mary's Loch and the Devil's Beef Tub. Located 1.5 hours drive from both Glasgow and Edinburgh, Moffat is the ideal base for touring southern Scotland. The town of Moffat and the surrounding Moffat hills present a haven for walkers of all abilities and the perfect place for a walking holiday. For golfers there is a challenging 18-hole course with 360 degree views over the surrounding Moffat countryside. In addition to its famous wool and toffee, Moffat offers gardens, art & culture and a choice of excellent welcoming pubs and restaurants.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"We all had a lovely time in this little gem of a cottage, we received a warm welcome. The cottage was very clean, warm and cosy. Moffat is a wonderful place to visit, and has some lovely walks there are also lots of eating places anything from fish and chips to cream tea or five course dinners the choice is endless. It is the perfect place to get away from it all."

"Lazy Days is a lovely traditional cottage in a side street off Moffat's High Street It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It has a very efficient heating system and well equipped kitchen plus beautifully decorated attic bedrooms. There are lovely walks close by along the river, shops are all within walking distance and it is also only 5 minutes from the motorway. There isn't really anything at all we could complain about and will use the cottage again on our travels from the south back home to Lewis."

"Lazy Days cottage is very cosy, extremely clean and in an ideal location to all of the amenities Moffat has to offer. We parked the car up on Friday night and didn't use it again until Monday morning. The cottage is very spacious downstairs, the living room is a lovely size and it has a very homely feel to it. The kitchen/dining room is also spacious and is very well equipped. The upstairs of the cottage has 2 good size bedrooms, which are decorated beautifully (I fell in love with the wallpaper) and again have a lovely homely feel.

"I booked the cottage for a 3 night break for our first wedding anniversary as we love Moffat for its quaint, friendly atmosphere and it's close to fly fishing venues (which we love to do).

"The cottage is situated off the main street which has many restaurants, pubs, take ways and small, privately owned town shops. There is quite a large Co-op 5 mins walk away, which we used when we first arrived. It's open until 10pm, 7 days a week which is fantastic if you need something quickly.

"There is a lovely park, riverside walks and family fishing lakes nearby (The Green Frog) which is also a garden center, gift shop and coffee shop. Moffat Mill is near the Co-op, 5 min walk, which sells anything and everything.

"All in all I would definitely book the cottage again and I would certainly recommend it to others, although the stairs are steep and the landing area is extremely narrow. We had to leave the stair light on at night so that we would remember to keep to the left when walking from the bedroom to bathroom. It is a cottage so it was expected!

I bought Lazydays Cottage because I was looking specifically for a holiday let property. I immediately loved the character and cosy feel of the cottage. It's location is perfect - right in the centre of town, yet perfect for escaping from it all in the stunning countryside.
