Overview

About the property

House in Brisighella, Ravenna, Emilia Romagna, Italy - Peaceful Countryside Location Near Brisighella Close To Village And Town

The property is a well equipped very comfortable family home with three bedrooms (one with panoramic glass wall windows overlooking the views) and two large bathrooms and also king size sofa bed downstairs. It has recently been refurbished to a very high standard in contemporary style. As this was our family home it has been equipped as such, and not as a holiday let. There is a large kitchen with oven, microwave and 5 ring gas hob, if you like to buy local produce and cook at home. Nespresso coffee machine, toaster and kettlle are also provided. The house is completely independent. My brother lives next door and you may see him working in the vineyards and olive groves, but he will always respect your privacy. For the warmer months there is a large outdoor terrace with ceiling fans and a wooden table and chairs for outdoor dining and 4 comortable rattan armchairs. The house has underfloor central heating and triple glazed windows and is also very cosy in the winter months which are also a great time to visit the area. There are children's swings as well as lots of land to roam around planted with vineyards and olive trees.

The location is ideal as it is so close to many famous cultural cities such as Bologna, Ravenna, Florence, Rimini, the former monastery of San Domenico in Forli which hosts world class art exhibitions, the Po Delta wetland nature reserve with its flamingos and limitless walking or cycling opportunities in the Appenine mountains. It is also feasible to go further afield - Venice or Milan for example would be a two hour train journey away. The local town Faenza, known for centuries for ceramics found in the main museums of the world and in its own International Ceramics Museum, is just a picturesque 15 minutes drive away and is a place to experience the quintessential Italian lifestyle around the main square. Amongst Italians themselves this area is really famous as having perhaps the best quality of life. We love the fact that many cities and towns of culture are easily accessible. Brisighella, visible directly opposite our house was recently judged on Italian television to be one of the most beautiful medieval hill villages in Italy with three hilly crags topped by a church, clock tower and castle. There is a geological regional park just outside the village with many wonderful walks.

About Luciano Bassan

We are Luciano Deborah and Martha an Anglo Italian family now living in London. Luciano works in the wine trade and Deborah is a tourist guide in Europe.

Luciano Bassan purchased this house in 1999

Why Luciano Bassan chose Brisighella

The location is absolutely idyllic in the first foothills of the Tosco-Romagnolo Appenines with breathtaking views of the countryside. Although in a beautiful rural location it is just a few minutes drive from the village of Brisighella or the town of Faenza. It truly is a gourmet paradise and one of the best qualities of Italian olive oil - DOP - Denomination of Origin Protected is produced here and can be bought from the local cooperative. We will be very happy to provide you with tips for a local food and wine trail showcasing.... the best food and wine in the area. Ca Murani restaurant in Faenza where local chef Remo produces incredible dishes (15 minute drive) In Spring and Autumn are perhaps the most beautiful times to spend time here with the fields of peaches and apricots a sea of pink blossom in March and April and in September/October for the wine and olives harvest, the magnificent turning leaves and the many food festivals 'Sagre' offering the bounty of the season - chestnuts, truffles, porcini mushrooms... The Adriatic coast with historic towns such as Ravenna, Cervia and Cesenatico or upmarket resorts like Milano Maritimma is just one hour's drive away. The Adriatic is ideal for families in the summer as the water is warm for bathing and shallow with small waves, so great for younger children. There re great fish restaurants by the coast - we always go to Cesenatico or Cervia.

It is also feasible to go further afield - Venice or Milan for example would be a two/three hours train journey away.

What makes this house unique

Brisighella the nearby village is very picturesque and has lovely walks up to the castle or the clock tower on the hill. There is a geological park with museum just outside the village the Parco Carne' as the area has unique geological formations of selenite, now is part of a 500km walk route called "Alta via dei Parchi" http://www.emiliaromagnaturismo.com/en/apennines-and-nature/unestate-sullalta-via-dei-parchi , visiting the most beautiful part of the Appennines. The outdoor swimming pool in the village is surrounded by pine trees and has a coffee bar area. Within a short drive you can be in the Apennine mountains where you can find rivers for wild swimming and lovely picnic spots.

Saturday is our preferred changeover day but do contact us if this is a problem for you. Arrival and departure times are flexible.

Une maison idéale et conforme à la description

  • 5 of 5

Lovley sunny holiday in a nice house and it is a very nice city Bresighella.

Nice people and excellent restaurants.

However you don't live alone in the huse / building. Renter's brother and sister in law live next door an people are working with agriculture at the house. Picture don't show the part of that side. People are coming and going and your are not alone....just for your information.there are cats, dogs and chikins. Nice public pool at the city. No outside barbecue only a very big one for wood at the house. Every thing inside the house was perfect.

Schöner ruhiger und erholsamer Urlaub

  • 5 of 5

Day trip to Florence through the Apennines from Brisighella railway station, taking around one and half hours is one of the most spectacular in Italy, and as it is a regional train very inexpensive.

International Ceramic Museum in Faenza and San Domenico gallery complex in Forli renowned art venues with world class exhibitions.

Provincial capital Ravenna has combined day ticket for all monuments - world famous 6th century mosaics. Also visit outside of town San Apollinare in Classe...(possibly most beautiful church in world?)

One of best qualities of DOP Olive oil produced in Brisighella to purchase at local cooperative. Local Sangiovese red wines also excellent - extensive choice of local producers at Conad Filanda supermarket in Faenza

Great food culture with many wonderful restaurants. La Casetta and La Grotta in Brisighella and Ca Murani Marianaza, La Sghisa in Faenza....

Countless walking opportunities in the Apennine mountains also wild swimming opportunities.

Wetland nature reserve in the Delta of river Po is great for birdwatching and cycling, especially in Spring and Autumn.

Coast/Beach:

The Adriatic coast with historic towns such as Raven

na, Cervia and Cesenatico or upmarket resorts like Milano Maritimma is just one hour's drive away. The Adriatic is ideal for families as the water is warm for bathing and shallow with small waves, so great for younger children. Mirabilandia is a fun theme park for kids near Ravenna. Great fish restaurants by the coast

The nearest airport is Bologna Guglielmo MARCONI or Rimini airport which are equidistant around 45 minutes drive. A car is necessary to get around.
