About Anne Marie Kenny

My wife and I spend most of our holidays in Praia del Rey with our family. We have made many great friends here and have really fallen in love with Praia del Rey. In 2007 we purchased our very own piece of the area with this beautiful house.

We love Praia del Re because of the fantastic golf and beach facilities in the area.

We have some of the best golf courses and beaches in Portugal with a great range of bars and restaurants on your doorstep. There really is something for everyone here. The area is easily accessible with Lisbon airport less than an hours drive away.

The property is just two minutes walk from the fabulous beach. We provide beach towels and umbrellas so you can travel light and make the most of the facilities.

Having visited the area on holidays with our friends we fell in love with the place. The combination of fantastic golf on some of the best courses in Portugal combined with idyllic warm sandy beaches made a must have for the entire family. The kids love of water sports and our love of golf made it the ideal location for both winter and summer. Since we bought here in 2007 we have made great friends and discovered great places to eat, drink and discover with our friends and family. Every time we visit we discover something new and even after seven years there are still loads of places that we want to visit and revisit.

Just 50 minutes drive from Lisbon Airport means that we can be at our work desks in the morning and walking the warm sandy beaches of Praia del Rey in the evening.

What makes this apartment unique

If you have even half the fun we have you will love your stay in Praia del Rely. It is the ideal spot to get away from the pressure of work. There is nothing more relaxing that walking the warm sandy beach and watching the sun set over the island of Berlingo.

Praia del Rey is also a golfers paradise with two world class championship golf courses on your doorstep. Our house is situated on the Praia del Rey Championship course and the new Royal Obidos (one of the last that Seve Balasteros designed) is just 10 minutes drive from our house. If you are up to it there is also a third 18 hole golf course just five minutes further up the road at Bom Successo which offers great value.

Notes on accommodation: How to get there - You need to fly to Lisbon. It is probably best to rent a car at the airport. Praia Del Rey is located some 90 kms north of Lisbon Airport(in the direction of Loures / Leiria on the A8 motorway). To get to the A8, you first need to take the A1 (North) and then the IC17 (CRIL). The IC17 joins with the A8. Leave the A8 motorway after about 40 minutes at exit 14 (signposted PENICHE IP6). Leave the IP6 at Serra Del Rei. Follow signs to Praia Del Rey. Further Details - On the golf and country club estate, there is a health spa (situated at the Marriott Hotel) for those interested in a little pampering. If you have young children, there is a great play area near the clubhouse and for the teenagers there is an activities centre which arranges guided water sport activities and also has a pool table, table tennis as well as table football and other games. The tennis courts and golf driving range are within walking distance. Outside: Fantastic location overlooking the pool. Plenty of room for sunbathing beside the pool. Idyllic location for the entire family. Utility Room: Hall suitable for storing luggage. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels included - including beach towels. Cleaning services available to suit your needs. Other: Balcony has table and chairs for six to take morning and evening sun. It is a secluded and discreet area to take the afternoon and evening sun. Idyllic location overlooking the pool, fantastic suntrap close to all the amenities. Own parking area.

A lovely, spacious apartment.

We had a wonderful holiday at this apartment. The property is tastefully decorated, light and spacious. The view from the balcony is lovely, especially at night overlooking a lit pool. It was clean and well equipped. The owners provide helpful recommendations for local attractions and restaurants and respond to communications quickly. The apartment is tucked away in a quiet part of the resort and this was perfect for our young family. We would definitely book again!

Very nice and spacious apartment

We had a great stay in this lovely apartment situated in a cosy corner of the vast resort Praia d'el Rey. The apartment proved just perfect for us as a family of 5. Lots of space, nice furniture and a fully equipped kitchen. Wonderfully relaxing surroundings. No traffic noise, no loud music at night. A small swimming pool in the garden (shared with a few other tenants) at the doorstep for our children to cool down in the afternoons.

We had several trips to nearby Peniche and Baleal with the fantastic (surfer) beaches – big waves, so take your precautions if you intend to bathe there :-) We had daytrips to Lisbon, Isla Berlenga and other great sights.

Communication with the property's owner went smoothly both before and after our stay.

I can warmly recommend renting this apartment for your holiday, just be aware that you will need a car to get around as the resort itself has very limited possibilities for shopping groceries, visiting restaurants etc.

Special interest holidays:

Our Apartment is 5 minutes walk from the tennis club which has 7 floodlit tennis courts and 10 minutes walk from 5 star Marriott hotel with indoor plus outdoor swimming pools and well equipped Gym. Weekly membership at reasonable rates available for hotel leisure club. Kids club 'Club Aventura' provides outdoor activities for children up to 16 years of age including surfing, body boarding, kayaking, quad biking, archery, paintballing and beach sports.

The ancient fortified town of Obidos is just 15 minutes drive. Dating back to the Roman Empire this magnificent citadel is an experience that is not to be missed when visiting the region.

Balael which is renowned for its international surfing is 10 minutes drive from the house and the world famous surfing beaches at Nazare is just 30 minutes drive away.

Berlingo Island with its world famous nature reserve is easily accessible by boat from Peniche, with extensive ferry service daily. Not to be missed!!


Praia del Rey is renowned for its Stunning Golden Beaches that stretch for miles in either direction and are just 10 minutes walk from the house. A walk on the beach in the morning is just the perfect way to shake off the cobwebs and get your day going. Wide range of surfing and bogey boarding facilities are located in Baleal - just 10 mins drive.

Alternatively the free internal Shuttle Bus services will bring you to the beach, golf clubhouse, driving/practice area, shops, 5 star hotel etc.


Resort is 50/60 mins drive from Lisbon airport. Cheap car hire is available and advisable to maximise your experience of this fabulous area.

Our English speaking friendly taxi man is available to collect you at the airport if you are not hiring a car. He is also available throughout your holiday. He charges excellent rates and is honest and trustworthy.

For your convenience there is an extensive, free, shuttle bus service available throughout the resort during the holiday season


Basic shop is 1.5km away. Nearest village Serra D'el Rey is a 5 min drive. Peniche a lovely fishing town with numerous excellent seafood restaurants is a 10-15 mins drive. The town of Obidos, a world heritage site is just a 15 mins drive. Baleal beach is excellent for all water sports and is just 5 minutes drive by car.

Further Details:

The fabulous Five Star Marriot Hotel and renowned Restaurant is situated on the resort. A Top class restaurant and extensive bar food menu is available at the Golf Club house which is also situated within the resort. Additional restaurant, bars, night-club situated in the busier part of the resort are only a 2 minutes ride on the shuttle bus.

An ATM machine is available at the Golf Clubhouse within the resort.

Fantastic fish and gourmet restaurants all available at various villages within 10 minute drive of our house. Sierra del Rey, Peniche, Obidos, Bombarrel, and Lourinha all have fabulous Bars and Restaurants and are within short drive of our house. One of our favourites is the Light House in Peniche - which is worth a visit for the scenery alone.
