The family-home, more than 650 square meters on 2 floors, is a typical house of Lauragais. It was built in XVIIIth and XIXth century. 400 square-meters are waiting for you, with independent entrance doors, a large terrace with ancient roses and a park with hundred-year-old trees. You'll enjoy this authentic family house with stoned and pink bricks walls, the ZodiacHippo swimming-pool (8m/5m) and the surroundings. Six generations of people have lived in this large house, carefully renovated to keep its authentic spirit, including modern requirements as Internet, flat screen TV.
It's located in the Lauragais, where many communication routes between Atlantique Ocean and Mediterranean Sea have been created over the centuries: Via Aquitania (Roman way), the Canal du Midi (Unesco World Heritage), the train-line that links Bordeaux to Sète, the Main Road 113, the motorway A61. Many historical and wonderful places are waiting for you, to be visited and please you. The famous "Cassoulet", the products from ducks and gouse (foie-gras, confits, etc...), close restaurants and vineyards will enjoy your stay and tempt you to come back!
The Lauragais region is a part of Occitania; you'll find, for instance, churches with typical wall-bell tower made of pink bricks and more and less bells. During the XVIth century, the wealth of the region was due to the the pastel culture, a plant used to color the material in the very specific pastel-blue. This wealth allowed the building of many magnificent mansion-houses, specifically in the center of Toulouse. The Pastel was called the "Blue Gold". At the end of XVIIIth century, the Pastel disappeared for the benefit of others "modern" technics. Today, passionated people have relaunched the culture of pastel to use its properties for colors and cosmetics as oil, soaps, etc.. You'll discover this product by visiting the Boutique of Pastel down town Toulouse or Bleu de Pastel at Lectoure in Gers (only 90mn by car).
At less than 10kms by car: -You'll visit Avignonet-Lauragais, a Cathar place during the XIIIth century. Its gothic church contains a XVIIth century painting about the massacre of 11 people during the Inquisition. In the country around Avignonet, you'll see old windmills and wind farm, which use the local Autan wind. At 1mn, you'll visit Port-Lauragais and its "Haute-Garonne House": you'll enjoy the permanent exhibition about the Canal du Midi. Very close is the "Seuil de Naurouze", highest point of the Canal, site of water sharing between Atlantical and Mediterranean waters. You can rent bicycles to ride along the Canal under the fresh shade of hundred-years-old plane trees. Also, you can rent boats to quiet sail on the Canal, enjoying nature and peaceful time. If you drive few kms, you arrive at the Ganguise lake where you can rent sailing boards or winsurfs. On your way back, you can stop and visit a very authentic pottery workshop. - Villefranche de Lauragais is a 4500 habitants town, where you'll find shops, supermarkets, doctors and pharmacists, tennis place, to enjoy and secure your stay.
At less than 40kms by car: -You'll visit Revel and its XIVth century covered-market, sustained by many pillars. It's topped with a belfry which was the watchtower of the town. Each saturday morning, you'll enjoy the local market which is one the nicest markets in France. Very close to Revel is the famous Saint-Ferreol lake which supplies, with water comming from the Montagne Noire, the Canal du Midi. - Toulouse, the "Pink-Town" due to the many buildings made of pink bricks, waits for you. You'll visit the old town centre and its Place du Capitole as well as the City of Space (Park of the Spatial Adventure, with replica of the Ariane rocket and many others spatial buildings), the Airbus site (manufacturer site) and the new aeronautical museum Aeroscopia: you'll see the Concorde, a Caravelle, an Airbus A300, the Super Gruppy as well as the old planes and helicopters of the "Ailes Anciennes" (Old Wings). At more than 40kms: -You'll visit the City of Carcassonne, a medieval architecture restored by Viollet le Duc. It' a part of the Patrimoine Mondial de l'Unesco and one of the most visited sites in Europe. The River Aude and the Canal du Midi cross the town. -You'll discover Albi. This town is a cathar place, dominated by the Sainte-Cécile cathedral, built by the Catholics to fight the Cathars in XIIIth century. Home-town of the painter Toulouse-Lautrec, it developped the very famous "Toulouse-Lautrec museum".
If you miss beaches, you can drive 75mn and enjoy Gruissan seaside and its houses on stilts; Leucate is 15mn further, you'll discover its large beaches with fine sand and typical local seafood. 4 golfs (18-hole courses) are less than 45mn drive.
Shopping might be delightful! At 3mn, you have Villefranche and its shops, at 7mn, you'll visit Nailloux and its Outlet, the "Village des Marques" with more than 70 shops. At 25mn, Toulouse offers you what you may dream. At 2 hours by car, enjoy the Principality of Andorra and its low level taxes; you'll find all the major brands in the main towns of this mountain place.
What about food? So much to tell!! The Lauragais region is full of opportunities, as 1- and 2-star restaurants, at Toulouse, Carcassonne, La Pomarède. Very nice "good tables" at Castelnaudary, Gardouch, Saint-Félix de Lauragais, Revel, Sorrèze, Castres, Albi....It's not possible to name all of them! You'll find the famous Cassoulet at less than 20mn from home, restaurants and shops for confits and foies gras and a special pastry at Villefranche, so close! To complete this subject, you'll find enough nice and delicious places for vineyards and wines, going to Fronton, Gaillac and surroundings, and the Corbières. Those locations are at 45mn by car.
You can also decide to just spend time in and out the Family-home, take time in the different rooms and enjoy the swimming-pool, the park, the outdoor games and the country around, the walks and bike rides!
We are 4 brothers and sisters, the 6th generation owners of Lafonsèque house. We will be happy to welcome you in the house of our family roots, transmitted by our great grand-parents, grand-parents and parents! One of the owners is living in a part of the family-house, totally independant.
We will do our best to make your stay a great, confortable and interesting time.
Superbe séjour entre amis dans cette maison de maîtres située près de Villefranche de Lauragais. Nous avons été accueillis de façon très chaleureuse par les membres de la famille propriétaire de cette magnifique demeure. La maison est très bien équipée et spacieuse, idéale pour le groupe de 8 adultes + 1 bébé que nous étions. Le jardin est grand, paisible et très bien entretenu. La piscine hors sol a été une belle surprise car assez grande pour faire des longueurs et des jeux d'eau à plusieurs. Les activités sont diverses aux alentours (Toulouse, cité de Carcassonne, Canal du Midi, marché de Revel, lac de St Ferréol....) et les commerces sont également à proximité. Je recommande vivement cette location, un grand merci à Bénédicte et Anne pour leurs conseils avisés et leurs attentions diverses.

For booking, a deposit of 30% is necessary. The booking becomes definitive only after payment of the deposit and return of the signed contact. The reservation is subject to complete payment of rental five weeks before arrival.
A refundable security deposit of 600€ must be paid with the balance of the renting by bank transfer and is paid off 15 days after the departure, or by cash money at the arrival.
The indicated rate is for a stay of 7 nights for 11 people in peak season.
A stay tax is required and added to the rent price. The amount is 0,35€ per night per person.
Linen and cleaning
- An amount of 18€ per person is required for bed and bathroom linen (pool towels are not included).
- 150€ are required for the cleaning at the end of the stay.
For a stay of 2 weeks, we offer the change of linen (bed, bathroom and house) and a 2-hours cleaning in the middle of rent (2nd saturday)
The changeover day is Saturday: arrival time from 4pm, departure time at 9-30 am (bedrooms have to be vacated by no later than 8-30 am)
