Overview

About the property

Large house in Loddon on the Norfolk Broads. Quiet location yet only 0.25 miles to the village. Ideal for exploring Norfolk & Suffolk.

We bought this house so we can retire here! It is quiet, secluded, yet very close to Loddon which has all the basic amenities. It is ideal for exploring all of Norfolk and Suffolk, with Norwich and the coast just 20 mins by car.

The garden is amazing – with a big terraced area and lots of outdoor seating as well as a secluded courtyard garden with table and chairs. The house looks over the garden to the south and west, so gets the sun the whole day.

Inside the master bedroom has a breathtaking panoramic view towards the old church over the grazing marshes. You can often see lots of local wildlife including deer, owls etc in the garden and fields beyond.

Downstairs is mostly open-plan with large windows. There is a new conservatory with double doors onto the terrace. The big trifold doors can be pulled back so it becomes part of the living room. The living room has a 50 inch TV and WiFi is included so you can stream anything you want!

There are lots of family games in the house for both indoor and outdoor types. The kitchen has an electric cooker with gas hob, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave etc. The downstairs of the house has been altered so that people with some disability can get around (ramp to the door) and a large wet room with walk-in shower.

We also provide FREE delicious homemade sausages! Find a pack in the freezer, with other packs available with an honesty box policy.

About simon watchorn

We farm at Earsham, with traditional arable and outdoor pigs. We are very conscious of the wildlife and work hard to make this a wildlife-friendly farm. Simon won the British Pig farmer of the Year 2014. Our sausages are available for you to try from the freezer. I used to run a B&B here until recently. Now I want to concentrate on my sculpting (mainly animals and people) and gardening.

simon watchorn purchased this house in 2008

Why simon watchorn chose Loddon

We bought the property and refurbished it in 2008. It was my parents home before my dad came to live with me after Mum died. Several people tried to buy it, one local described it as "the best plot in Loddon". We are local farmers and will eventually want somewhere to retire to! We thought this property had a superb location, close to several places to eat, with all the basics available in the little town. It is very friendly with a lovely village atmosphere. My dad lived here for 14 years and was very happy. It has a low crime rate and the scenery is beautiful! The house suited us perfectly, it is very secluded but not at all isolated. We love gardening and work hard to keep it in top condition.

What makes this house unique

The property is quiet and secluded with a large garden.

It is easy walking distance of the local town (Loddon).

The property is light and spacious and south facing.

Easy access to the Broads, Norwich, the coast. Lots of local attractions.

Ideal for the elderly or disabled in the downstairs bedroom.

Ideal house for an extended family.

It has parking for five cars.

Ability to alter the beds from twins to doubles, so very flexible.

Lots of space to run around and play games.

General Comments

We had a wonderful week at Moles Acre. The house was perfect for 6 adults,3 children under 4 and our little dog Bill. The children and our dog loved playing in the large garden. A 10 minute walk through the church there is a co-op supermarket, butchers etc. We can recommend the Indian restaurant. There are several places to visit, Great Yarmouth, Cromer and lots of things to keep the children occupied. Highly Recommended.

Fantastic place , absolutely perfect stay

  • 5 of 5

I booked a while ago for my Fiancee's 50th birthday surprise family get together, there were 10 of us altogether , 9 adults and 1 toddler. The house was perfect for us all, clean spacious and fully equipped for all our needs. The garden is so spacious and well maintained with lots of room for activities , patio area and small courtyard area. With 10 of us staying we all had our own bedrooms some with en suite, all of which were comfortable a clean and made up to suit. The kitchen is well equipped , two ovens, gas hob, washing machine , microwave , dishwasher & toaster etc, all of which came in handy for us. A highchair , stair gates and Travel cot were provided saving having to transport these items and to not have to worry about little ones being unsafe, all of which is very helpful . The lounge, dining room and conservatory have ample space. There are two BBQ's for use and plenty of garden furniture to sit on, lots of garden games provided and a cupboard full of board games. Not that we needed it ourselves but if anyone did, the house is well equipped for a disabled person, having ground floor bedroom with en-suite and ramps for easy access etc. We were blessed with fantastic weather for our stay over the Bank Holiday weekend which made it even better, Communication with the owners from start to finish was great, We met Bobbie who was very nice. Overall I would thoroughly recommend staying here, especially if you are a small group of 10/12 people. Hopefully we will back in the future. We look forward to our return.

Simply perfect

  • 5 of 5

I booked this house for a group of ladies including myself.

Right from the very beginning the communication and help i recieved from Bobbi and Simon was fantastic! Any questions or queries i had (which was quite alot) were always answered very promptly.

We all liked the pictures of the house and thought it looked lovely but we were all very pleasantly surprised when we arrived.

Simon was there to greet us and was very welcoming.

He showed me round the house and i was shocked at how beautiful it really was! Especially with the garden and the view.

Every single person in our party instantly fell in love with the house. It just felt like home.

We made our way into the village for lunch which was about a 20min lovely walk and helped us to see more.

Overall, an amazing wkend was had by the entire party and we are currently planning on returning next year.

Massive thank you to the owners Simon and Bobbi for letting us stay in your beautiful property and also thank you to the cleaners for their help our on last morning. They too were very lovely.

If i had one thing to critique its that the photos do not do your house any justice... we didnt expect it to be as lovely as it is.

Nice, well maintained property

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time. The house and garden were perfect for our group of 4 adults and 4 children. The children loved seeing the various wildlife that turned up, especially a deer. The house was perfectly located, and an easy walk to the village shops.

Spacious, comfortable holiday accommodation for two families

  • 5 of 5

With 10 of us in total (4 adults and 6 children with an age range of 15 to 10) Moles Acre was a great house to stay in. We were welcomed by the owners and made to feel at home. In the house there is a good bedroom layout for families, a large communal room for everyone to spread out and relax, as well as plenty of bathrooms and a good size table to share meals together. The kitchen is well equipped and the garden made a perfect location for an Easter egg hunt.

A short walk from the village, 20 mins from Norwich and in driving distance to lots of places of interest (we saw about 200 seals on the beach at Horsey point) it is a good location for a holiday in Norfolk. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, despite the soggy weather Easter provided this year.

Great family house

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Mole Acre from the 3rd to 6th April. There were 10 family members ranging in age from 7 to 87 and we all enjoyed our stay. The beds were very comfortable and the house was well stocked of everything you could need. The owners are friendly and were available to answer any questions that we had. We will hopefully stay again soon.

A really nice house, deceptively spacious

  • 5 of 5

As a group of friends with 6 adults and 5 kids, the house offered us lots of space to enjoy each other’s company. Would definitely recommend and use again ourselves.
