We bought this house so we can retire here! It is quiet, secluded, yet very close to Loddon which has all the basic amenities. Norwich, and the coast are 20 mins by car and it is ideal for exploring all of Norfolk and Suffolk. The garden is amazing, with a big terraced area, and lots of outdoor seating as well as a secluded courtyard garden with table and chairs. The house looks over the garden to the south and west, so gets the sun the whole day. Inside the master bedroom has a breathtaking panoramic view towards the old church over the grazing marshes. You can often see lots of local wildlife including deer, owls etc in the garden and fields beyond.Downstairs is mostly open plan with big windows. There is a new conservatory with double doors onto the terrace. the big trifold doors can be pulled back so it becomes part of the living room.The living room has a 50 inch TV and WIFI is included so you can stream anything you want! There are lots of family games in the house for both indoor and outdoor types.The kitchen has an electric cooker with gas hob, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave etc. The downstairs of the house has been altered so that people with some disability can get around (ramp to the door) and large wet room with walk in shower.

We farm at Earsham, with traditional arable and outdoor pigs.We are very conscious of the wildlife and work hard to make this a wildlife friendly farm. Simon won the British Pig farmer of the Year 2014. Our sausages are available for you to try from the freezer. I used to run a B&B here until recently. Now I want to concentrate on my sculpting

( mainly animals and people),and gardening.

All 3 of my children are grown up and live away. 2 are married with children. Time flies!

Why simon watchorn chose South Norfolk

We bought the property and refurbished it in 2008.It was my parents home before my dad came to live with me after Mum died. Several people tried to buy it, one local described it as "the best plot in Loddon". We are local farmers and will eventually want somewhere to retire to! We thought this property had a superb location, close to several places to eat, with all the basics available in the little town. It is very friendly with a lovely village atmosphere. My dad lived here for 14 years and was very happy. It has a low crime rate and the scenery is beautiful! The house suited us perfectly, it is very secluded but not at all isolated. We love gardening and work hard to keep it in top condition.

General Comments

We had a wonderful week at Moles Acre. The house was perfect for 6 adults,3 children under 4 and our little dog Bill.The children and our dog loved playing in the large garden. A 10 minute walk through the church there is a co-op supermarket, butchers etc. We can recommend the Indian restaurant. There are several places to visit, Great Yarmouth, Cromer and lots of things to keep the children occupied. Highly Recommended.

Outside: 1 acre garden with lawns, flowerbeds, shrubbery, orchard area, sunk garden with furniture, sun terrace with swing seat and garden furniture, barbecue area. Secluded courtyard garden getting the morning sun up until about 4 o'clock with table and chairs . Utility Room: Garden games, various including badminton, and bowls. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels and linen included, 1 bath sheet, 1 hand towel per person, plus towels in the bathrooms. 2 pillows per person, duvets with white covers. Kitchen cloths, dishcloths, drying up towels, oven gloves etc all provided. Property cleaned once per week

Beautiful house

The cottage was absolutely amazing with all the little extras that you might need. We were a group of four families, and there was plenty of space for everyone. The garden was amazing and the kids (and adults) loved being able to play with the games that were provided. I would definitely recommend this house, and would love to stay there again in the future.

In the perfect location for enjoying all that the surrounding offer has to offer. The house is really well kitted out, clean and just perfect for a family getaway or a big group of friends. Wish we had an excuse to go back. :)

Relaxing getaway from it all vacation - with wifi.

The house had plenty of room for the five of us to spread out. It was comfortable and the owners had fixed appliances before it became a problem. We had a very relaxing stress free time, it gave us the opportunity to enjoy the local area or use as a base to see more of Norfolk. The garden was great and allowed our two dogs to have an enjoyable time. A couple of minor issues, as with most British holidays the weather can not be relied on so as we try to keep the washing down when it was dry it went out side, however when it rained it was dried on the clothes horse a tumble dryer would be better solution. I wold have preferred that the garden was more enclosed and not opening to other peoples garden. having said that we had a great relaxing time and would return there again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to review our property. We are very glad you enjoyed your stay. Whilst you were here one of our neighbours had taken down the fence between our 2 properties and had not yet reinstated it. As it is her fence all we can do is ask her to replace it. The west side of the garden looks over a field and has a hedge and fence. I am afraid it would be virtually impossible to make the garden dog proof as it is just over an acre and has a wide entrance that would be very difficult to put a gate across. This would make coming and going to the property very difficult. There is a courtyard garden that is fully enclosed and dogs can be let out there with no fear of escape. i am sorry the weather was not ideal, but we do not provide a tumble dryer as there is no where to put it in the kitchen. We felt a dishwasher would be appreciated more. We do provide an indoor airer and an outside whirly-gig airer. We do hope you will want to come again.

Booking Notes:
Please contact the owners either by email or phone. Deposits of 10% are taken at the time of booking, the remainder to be paid by 6 weeks prior to the start of the booking.

Changeover Day:
Changeover in high season is Saturday. shorter bookings available at other times of the year. Entry is from 3pm on the arrival day and departure is by 10am.

Notes on prices:
If the stay is for less than 7 nights the cost is 70% of the weekly charge for 4 nights and 60% of the weekly charge for a 3 night stay. Discounts given to small parties. Dogs are charged at £25 per dog per week.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
