A lovely, well-equipped cottage

  • 5 of 5

My family and I really enjoyed our stay in Lime Cottage.

Lime Cottage is comfortable and well-equipped with everything we needed. I found the Aga a bit of a nightmare to cook on, but other than that, perfect! There is a lovely little garden and barbecue, which we used a lot. And a friendly cat visitor!

The lovely beach is a 5 minute drive away and there is plenty of parking there. Also, if you’re an angler, lots of pike to be caught in the sea! The local pub in Manorbier is friendly and serves good beer, but we found the food to be very disappointing there.

A beautifully restored cottage in a lovely location.

  • 5 of 5

Lime Cottage was a lovely holiday home for our family of four adults and two young children. The cottage has been carefully restored with traditional finishes, is comfortably furnished and well equipped, clean and welcoming. The children enjoyed the toys, especially the slide that Adam appeared with when we arrived, but best of all was the secret staircase beside the huge chimney. The aga cooked our meals well and dried clothes quickly when needed. The garden is perfect to catch the last of the sun and we enjoyed using the barbecue.

This is an excellent area for a family holiday with outstanding beaches that were still worth visiting on blustery days. Lots to do and places to visit. To be highly recommended.

Perfect family cottage in Pembrokeshire

  • 5 of 5

Lime Cottage is a calm, welcoming and spacious cottage, with plenty of safe outdoor space for little ones. The downstairs space is very comfortable and liveable, with a notably well-equipped kitchen. Upstairs, the bedrooms are peaceful and perfectly-sized, and everywhere there are nooks and crannies full of books for everyone. Floors of oak and quarry tiles, lime render on the thick walls, and a surviving stone hearth and chimney stack from centuries ago complete the perfectly-judged blend of old and new. A delightful place to which we hope to return. Highly recommended.

Clean and comfortable cottage in a great location.

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage full of character and orginal features. We have stayed here three times now and enjoyed both the property and the surrounding area each time. Lovely beaches at nearby Manorbier and also on the Stackpole estate - the walk from Bosherton to Broadhaven being a favourite. Carew castle also very tranquil. I would happily recommend this property.

Fun, cute cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Lime Cottage with our two children, aged 5 and 3. It was a great location - an ideal base for visiting other locations, but in a lovely quiet location down a farmer's track which meant that we could let the kids play to their hearts content in the garden unsupervised and with no traffic noise except the occasional train hooting in the far distance. The cottage itself it lovely and very quirky, including the "staircase to nowhere" that my children loved, a fully functioning aga (an aga cookbook would be useful as I've never cooked on an aga before), nooks and crannies filled with books, and the porthole in the bathroom wall. There was a very useful downstairs shower, perfect to dumping sandy kids into after a day at the beach.

The nearest beach was 20 mins walk away - slightly too far for mine to manage - but an easy drive. Just take plenty of spare change for the parking! Tenby is 10 mins away and beautiful with plenty of sandy beaches to choose from. We also visited Colby Woodland Garden, Narberth, Crickenhall Adventure Park (would seriously recommend this for younger children needing to let off steam), Pembroke and its castle, Manorbier castle, beaches, more beaches, and yet more beaches. We easily filled our time and didn't get to visit everywhere that we wanted to.

I would most definitely recommend this cottage.

Lime cottage - not just a holiday cottage but a warm and comfortable home for a holiday.

  • 5 of 5

Directions to the property accurate and useful. The descriptions and photographs helped me select Lime cottage, for a stay with my daughter, husband and two children and it worked perfectly for us.

The open plan kitchen and living space is generous, well proportioned and accommodates various family activities with ease. Comfy seating, dining, and well equipped kitchen of character and charm. The star - the Aga for a warm greeting each morning.

Upstairs landing and bathroom spacious for a small cottage and comfy bedrooms with pretty little windows offering views of surrounding greenery. The deep window sills and niches with a wide range of reading matter for all ages and tastes - children's books read avidly.

The coast and beaches are stunning, Ivan gave inspiring suggestions and useful routes. The range of beaches so varied and all very accessible a short drive or walk from Manorbier. A weeks holiday in early July, the usual mix of sun, cloud and showers, Lime cottage was the perfect comfortable, practical but charming base for us to explore the area. Planning my return already many thanks Lucy and Ivan

Location

From the Owner

When Ivan and I resolved to move to Pembrokeshire 14 years ago we ideally wanted a property between Pembroke and Manorbier which was as close to the coast as possible. Ivan had holidayed in the area since he was a child and knew it very well. Who knew we would find exactly that! With Tenby and Pembroke a five mile drive in either direction and a twenty minute walk to Manorbier Beach, Lime House and the adjacent cottage are set 200m back from the road. We are surrounded by fields whilst also being close to amenities.

Activity and Interests

Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

Manorbier was described by the Guardian as 'The perfect seaside village'. Within 20 minutes walk from Lime Cottage you can be on Manorbier beach, with its waves, rock pools and large stretch of sand. Also within walking distance are Church Doors, Skrinkle, Presipe and Swan Lake, all accessible from the Coastal Path.

Less than 10 minutes drive east is Tenby and it's popular beaches. To the west (25 mins drive), are Barafundle and Broadhaven South. Also Freshwater West, the famous surf beach.

Travel:

Manorbier train station is ten minutes walk away. We are just off the A4139.

Distances:

Tenby is 10 minutes East and Pembroke 10 minutes West. Keep driving West and Pembroke Dock is best for supermarkets (Aldi, Lidl, Tesco) although there is a small Sainsburys in Tenby. I try to shop local for meat & fish (Tenby market great for both). We have two local pubs 10 minutes walk away, both serve food. Pembroke, Carew and Manorbier Castles within a 5 mile radius. The Pembrokeshire Coast is known worldwide as a place of outstanding natural beauty with a selection of beautiful beaches.

Facilities

From the Owner

It took us two years to restore the property whose limestone fireplace and vast inglenook fireplace date it to the early 17th century. We have used traditional lime mortar in the walls, with natural clay paint. Non-toxic finishes have been used throughout, such as natural oil polish for the solid oak floors, doors and staircase. The private garden is the perfect spot for a barbecue after a day spent on one of Pembrokeshire many fine beaches. The oil-fired Aga keeps the cottage dry and cosy throughout the year.
