18th Century Farmhouse In A Listed Hamlet Near The Dordogne

Updated: 09-Sep-2016
Orliac, Nr. Belves, Sarlat, Dordogne, Aquitaine, France - A Small Paradise removed from the World, But Close To Everything: It’s A Place To Simply Be Happy

Our house is located in a listed hamlet on top of a hill with views of fields and woods. The house is on 5 acres of land (fields, fruit trees, flowers) with a main building plus a large barn. The house has been renovated to highest modern standard but keeps its old feel. There is a large terrace on the main floor with beautiful views of surrounding countryside (beautiful sunsets). There is another large terrace on the ground floor off the kitchen and with direct access to the pool. The kitchen has been fully renovated in 2013. It is an ideal hideaway for a relaxing countryside vacation with cultural outings and wonderful restaurants a short drive away.

About the Owner

Our family fell in love with the region and the house in 1990. We try to spend as much time as we can there but with our family being dispersed in several countries we find it more and more difficult to enjoy the place so we would be happy to share this wonderful spot with others.

Idyllic rural holiday home

This is a beautiful, quiet property with a superb swimming pool. It is a very private location, not overlooked at all, surrounded by open fields. We spent a month there in July/August 2015. It is somewhat isolated - 8km to the nearest bakery - so a car is essential and for us, with small children, just a trip to the supermarket was a bit of an undertaking. However if you are looking for unspoilt, uninterrupted quiet then this is truly an idyllic retreat from the world. The facilities (bathrooms, kitchen, bedrooms etc.) were very clean and homely - we were sad in many ways to say goodbye when we left. We will return when the children are a little older I hope!

I had been staying in this magnificent farmhouse quite a few times before their owner, Hedi and Yolande, embarked into a major renovation project.

I had always loved it as it has all the charm of the old world and much more besides.

But the bathrooms and the kitchen were somewhat obsolete. For that reason, if asked to write a review then, I would have mentioned those and only given a rating of 4 stars.

As it is now, and with the bathrooms and the kitchen being fully renovated to near perfection, I am most happy to upgrade my rating to 5 stars.

Les quelques jours passés dans cette jolie propriété confortable nous ont enchanté et nous avons autant apprécié le calme des lieux dans ce beau village, invitant à la détente et repos que la proximité des richesses historiques, architecturales et gastronomiques de la Dordogne.
