Why Owner chose Villaricos

We first visited Villaricos in 2012 and had an amazing time with the waterfront, restaurants and pace of life. The beaches are amazing and the coastline is stunning for cycling, driving or just a peaceful walk.

Its a very safe also which was important to us as we have a young daughter who loves to run around.

I travel a lot through work so I love to escape to the peace and beauty of Villaricos. I usually spend my morning either fishing at the beach or driving the stunning coastline and stopping for breakfast at one of the local towns. The town has plenty to offer with great inexpensive restaurants and great bars where plenty of locals and expats gather and are very welcoming.

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment is part of a gated closed complex with numerous gated courtyards, swimming pool and Jacuzzi so you can feel safe and secure at all times.

The complex is built in Spanish style and to an very high standard. Situated directly in front of the marina and within 1 minute walk of town square with numerous bars and restaurants.

You can visit the local towns such as Garrucha, Mojacar and Vera within 10 mins drive. Fastastic coastline everywhere with amazing scenery for photography. Fishing beach 30 seconds from the complex lets you relax in peace with the sun on your back. There is a local diving school and fishing trips are available.

The apartment overlooks landscaped gardens to breakfast in peace in the shaded and private elevated balcony until ready to take on the pool and local beaches or attractions.

Desert Springs golf course is 15 minutes drive and you will also find another three courses within easy reach.

The village adorns the waterfront, while towards the south within 10 minutes are found numerous spots for shopping, nightlife and lively entertainment – towards the north lies an idyllic coastline enclosed by the mountains on one side and the Mediterranean on the other. Miles of uninterrupted peace can be found.

Water Interest Diving is also popular and the village has two diving centres that can arrange trips and courses. Fishing trips can also be easily arranged in the village. Fishing gear (excluding reel) provided free of charge to visitors with apartment.

Apart from the complex swimming poll/Jacuzzi and picnic areas, there are local playgrounds within easy walking distance of the complex. The Vera Aquapark is always the most popualar local attraction. Visit website at: http://www.aquavera.com

A short 15 minute drive and you will find are the towns of Cuevas, Garrucha and Mojacar. Casinos, nightclubs and lively bars are easily found in the summer season and are open all night.

Enjoyable short break

Enjoyable stay and very easy arrangement. Met when we arrived and given the tour of the complex with the pool, gardens and parking etc. Had everything we needed. All very nice and peaceful.

Great time during short break

We had a very enjoyable stay. Good to have Sky TV to keep watching my shows, :).

The village was very friendly but we didn't get to visit all the nearby towns but kept us very busy.

The complex was so clean and well maintained - immaculate and the apartment had everything we needed.

Not as nice as expected

Harbour Lights is a very nice complex, but this apartment is not suitable for seniors, especially those with mobility issues. Many stairs and a long steep ramp at the main entrance. Many issues with things not working ( TV & Oven) upon arrival. Minor items such as dish cloth, mitt for handling hot items, spatula, wine glasses, drinking glasses, etc had to be purchased. This apartment gets very little sunshine and was cold . We are sure that in summer it is good when the weather is very hot. Pictures in ads are not accurate nor representative of the unit. Would be okay with some upgrades. Absent owner has been made aware and hopefully improvements will be forthcoming.

Owner's Response: We were informed at booking that this guest was a senior person and we duly informed the guest of the number of steps to allow access to the apartment.The apartment is elevated overlooking the gardens so requires twelve non-onerous steps be climbed on winding stone staircase. A bath bar and slip mat were installed into the bathroom to assist this guest during their stay; an effort we took to ensure the stay was as pleasant as possible. During first days stay–TV Sky receiver box and Oven element broke–and were immediately repaired–these were the only things not working upon inspection of apartment post stay. Having spoken with guest–their comment regarding wine glasses and drinking glasses was in reference to them not being high grade glasses–we do not provide high end drinking glasses–they are standard glass tumblers and flutes as people break them and we wish to keep rental charges to a minimum to the guest. The pictures on the website are exactly the apartment–the guest has told us that based on the pictures–they thought it was overlooking the sea. It is not. The complex is in front of the marina and waterfront but the unit overlooks the garden quarter and water features within the complex. In no description do we allude or present the apartment as overlooking the sea. The apartment was fitted with new air conditioning unit in Nov 17’–so fully working cooling and heating. I am unsure as to why guests did not use it. The apartment gets morning and afternoon sun – and is quite shaded as is preferable in the summer. Reference to an ‘absent owner’ – the guest was met by the owner’s representative upon arrival–shown everything needed including heating system and operations of tv and cooker etc. They were informed to contact the representative should any issues arise during the stay which they did to fix the cooker element and tv. However–upon guest departure–they said about the cold (for which there is heating system provided in winter) and glasses and ‘little black spots on the table cloth’ etc that could easily have been addressed should they have informed the representative. It is a shame the guest did not inform us during stay that the steps were causing an issue within the complex as we could have moved the guest, at no charge, to the larger adjacent apartment that has had a dedicated rear entrance installed to allow entry and exit for disabled/mobility challenged persons. Website describes this apartment as not suitable for disabled use.

Calm in the Madness of August in Spain

We had a great time in Villaricos and Mocajar. Following a busy week of traveling throughout Almeria, it was the perfect relaxing way to end our holiday. The apartment was immaculate and very comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. I wasn't expecting such a beautiful view of the sea and mountains! Would recommend this to others. Happy!

Very Enjoyable holiday

This apartment and complex was just as we expected after reading previous reviews. Nice welcome on arrival and very clean. Great location with everything within walking distance. Underground parking space was very handy with having a cool car to get into each day. We used the cool box,beach chairs etc that was all available to us from the apartment. The Sunday market was right on our door step well worth a visit. Nice pool and Jacuzzi. Found restaurants/bars in town very reasonable and we particularly enjoyed a lovely paella in Lucky Bar in the square. Only negative comment was we were unable to use air-con in apartment, during very warm nights we struggled to sleep. Overall would recommend this apartment and complex for a nice break.

Further Details:

Villaricos is a peaceful village and retains it's old Spanish charm. There are restaurants, bars 2 supermarkets and a newsagents within walking distance. It also boasts a lively Sunday market. An Aqua Park is 15 mins drive away at Vera.
