About the Owner

I'm a marine biologist, specialising in marine mammals locally. I am a lecturer and run guided walks. St Brides cottage is my home, but I rent it out during the summer and holiday periods when I live in a caravan nearby.

I moved here because of the local marine mammal populations that I was working on. St Davids is a fantastic combination of Welsh small local community mixed with that seaside holiday feeling.

Delightful, good facilities, ideally positioned, clean and excellent value.

  • 4 of 5

Easy to arrange and deal with the owner, the bathroom and kitchen were well supplied with plenty of hot water and brand new white goods in the kitchen. The cottage had a nice homely feel and a little private outside area. Everything was clean and tidy and there a good selection of books, a TV and a functioning wood burner. It was perfectly placed for a few days in St David's with many good places to eat, a great deli, several gift and art shops, a fascinating cathedral and an information centre. Ideal for walking parts of the coastal path and visiting the fabulously clean beaches. It was easy enough to park nearby and quiet at night. One of the mattresses on the single beds was a bit soft and the sofas in the lounge could probably be upgraded to match the rest of the facilities but really this was not a problem. Definitely worth a visit.

A lovely, cosy and quiet cottage right in the heart of St Davids

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at St Bride's Cottage. It was exactly as we'd expected from the photos. Very clean and extremely well equipped. Powell was really helpful with some questions both before and during our time there. The location is amazing - a couple of minutes walk into the centre of St Davids, and a lovely walk to the coastal path, yet so quiet and peaceful. We would definitely return - had hoped for some time there again in June, but sadly it's already booked! St Davids is a magical place - a wonderful choice of shops, a great information centre and the magnificent cathedral precinct. Can't wait to return. Thank you so much for our fabulous break!

Another St David's bolt hole

  • 4 of 5

We were very pleasantly surprised at how Central the cottage was in St David's - a short walk through a walk way and you are right in the middle of St David's - the cottage was lovely and clean and everything you needed was available. A small but sun trapped garden to collapse into while whoever's turn it was cooked a meal. Bishops Cwtch and the refurbished Cross good for food - Kath at the Farmers always pleased to see you each year.

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

I booked this cottage for the weekend of the Pembrokeshire Cycle Challenge and it was the perfect choice; we were a party of 4 adults (including 2 large males) and the cottage was just the perfect size.

It is situated right in the heart of the City so nothing is a more than a short walk away.

The cottage itself has been restored and maintained to a high standard, retaining much of its 150 year old character and has a wood burning stove in the corner of the living room - husband was dying to light it but it was just too warm.... The property is well stocked, especially the kitchen, and has an enclosed courtyard to the rear with a bbq, table and chairs and little herb garden. It was clean on arrival and looked just like the photos posted on the website. There is a comprehensive manual containing everything you need to know about the cottage and also contains lots of local information.

The walls are thick stone so the whole cottage stays cosy & warm for a long time after the (very efficient) heating switches off and the underfloor heating in the kitchen is lovely. The double and twin rooms are fairly large with plenty of storage space (plenty for we 4) and the bunk room is ideal for smaller kids.

The bathroom is nice and big with plenty of storage space and a bath with Mira shower over it. The shower is really good.

I'm a light sleeper but there was no traffic noise from the road outside (we had the front bedroom so I was a little worried) and the stairs are well carpeted so I wasn't disturbed by visits to the bathroom overnight.

This is the ideal place for to use as a base for cycling, walking, visits to the seaside or just chilling with a coffee in the peaceful courtyard. The Indian restaurant on Nun St (Saffron) is really good and The Grove serves a lovely Sunday lunch. We didn't manage to get to The Cwtch but have heard many good things about it.

This would make a great place for a family holiday, a quiet retreat or just a weekend away somewhere different. We shall definitely return.
