Cottage in the heart of the historical town of Rye

Overview

Property

Updated: 04-Dec-2016
2 Bedroom Cottage in Rye, East Sussex - Town centre location with railway station, all local amenities and shops just 5 mins walk away

Honey Cottage is a delightful end of terrace house purchased by us in September 2014 which we have completely updated and refurbished. We hope we have thought of all the little extras to make it a "home from home", but always welcome feedback if something is lacking! With two bedrooms, a sitting room, kitchen/diner and small courtyard outside, it really is an ideal spot to enjoy a short break or longer holiday. Ideally it suits 4 people but on occasion we are happy to rent out to a party of 5 as it does have a double sofa bed in the sitting room.

About the Owner

We live in Tonbridge with our 2 teenage children and dog! My husband runs a pub and I am self employed so with busy lives we have always enjoyed getting away "from it all". Having owned a holiday lodge at Camber Sands for 4 years we had already fallen in love with Rye and the surrounding areas when we came across Honey Cottage in an Estate Agent's window last summer! The rest is history .... we have loved doing up the cottage and since completion have enjoyed many a happy weekend with and without our kids at the house. Its perfect location - having Rye town on your doorstep and Camber Sands for long walks still just down the road gives us everything we need.

Caroline & Nick Roseveare - "what a fabulous place to stay for a weekend - arriving by train from Manchester on Friday evening we enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing weekend with walks to Camber Sands and Rye Harbour and a super meal out at The Ship Inn. Highly recommend this as a place to say for complete r&r!".

Kate & Jonathan Fagg - "as friends of the family we were asked to stay at Honey Cottage for constructive feedback - we can honestly say it has absolutely everything we wanted and needed and will definitely go back!".

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay in Rye at Honey Cottage over half term with our two young children. The location was perfect for pottering around the town and it was only a short drive to the beautiful Camber Sands and other attractions, such as the Rarebreeds Farm. The cottage was clean and tidy and the kitchen was very well equipped. I would highly recommend it. Thank you, Fran!

Lovely cottage in central Rye

  • 5 of 5

Had a lovely stay at Honey Cottage with my (5 year old) son - it truly was home away from home and the perfect base to explore Rye, Camber and along the coast to Hastings. Had a very nice wander around Rye, indulging in the obligatory cream tea at Cobbles Tea Room, a lovely breakfast at Fig on the High Street and also tried Oriental Delight close to the cottage one night. We took a drive to the Harbour and went for a nice long walk around the nature reserve and along the beach, and had a lovely pub lunch around the harbour itself. Great for curious little ones to explore. Would happily stay again; my son is already asking when we can go back

Beautiful & cozy cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in Honey Cottage. Beautiful, comfortable and cozy, had everything we needed. Parking in the Market car park was easy and good value. Some traffic noise but we live in the country so usually very quiet.

Beautiful cottage, excellent location, has everything you need 

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is very clean, cosy, tidy and has everything you could ask for. The décor and layout is really nice, a home from home.

You can access the great beaches and country walks with no problem from the cottage. There are loads of parking spaces close by and not to expensive. The town centre with all the shops and pubs is literally round the corner.

Cosy cottage ideally placed

  • 5 of 5

We loved this little cottage and enjoyed our visit. Everything in Rye is within walking distance so it is ideally situated for a visit to this historic town. It's close to the train station and parking although not on the premises is only a short walk away and just £1.50 for 24 hours. The cottage is beautifully decorated, comfortable, warm and clean and we had everything we needed to self cater. The only downside is that it is on the main road and close to a pub where they have a late licence so there is some noise but you can't be in the centre of town and expect silence.

Fantastic long weekend, in a beautiful cottage

  • 5 of 5

Had a super 4 day mini holiday to Rye staying in this beautiful cottage. It's gorgeous throughout has everything you need and we took advantage of the courtyard to sit out and enjoy the warm weather. Parking in Cattle market for £1-50 for 24 hrs mega cheap and convenient. Fantastic location for exploring Rye antique shops and boutiques, within easy walking distance of some great places to eat including The Ship Inn for amazing gourmet pub food. Walked to the Harbour with kids (1 1/2 miles) - was a hot day, so should probably have driven, but lovely walk through fields and then down to the sea front for some great paddling. Popped to Hastings and went on the vernacular railway, amazing views from the top. And then doubled back to Camber to watch kite surfers and had chips for tea on the beach. Hope to go again soon!

Location

From the Owner

We bought the cottage in September 2014 and have enjoyed doing it up over the past few months. We wanted to have a holiday home that we could both use ourselves and let out to other visitors until such time as we may decide to re-locate to the area! For now, we will use it as much as we can when it is not booked out and hope that our visitors enjoy it as much as we do!

Facilities

From the Owner

The more we have got to know Rye and the surrounding coastal areas the more we fall in love with it. To be able to live in the middle of a busy and interesting town whilst having beaches all around it suits us perfectly. We get as much pleasure from long walks on the beach whatever time of year and whatever the weather. To be completely free to roam and then come back to Rye for a wonderful selection of cafes, pubs and restaurants and then home to a cosy, comfortable cottage is just the tonic we need.
