Overview

About the property

Sleeping capacity 8

“El Mirador de Iznájar” is found 5km from the village of Iznájar, surrounded by olive grove and holm oaks in the Natural Park “La Subbética Cordobesa”.

This magnificent family house is truly unique. Situated approximately the same distance (only 90km) from Andalucia’s most famous cities, Córdoba, Granada and Málaga, its nestles on the slopes of Lake Iznájar, with magnificent views over the turquoise waters of the lake and the surrounding countryside.

The rustic decor is exquisite, with wooden beams, terracotta tiles and fine examples of Andalucian handicrafts. The front door opens on to the ample open plan living/dining room which has an open fireplace and huge windows overlooking the lake; an archway separates this area from the cheerful and well equipped kitchen. There is an ample covered terrace with a dining out area by the magnificent swimming pool. On the first floor the three pretty bedrooms are cosy, very comfortable, and enjoy the most superb views.

A perfect place to discover the real Andalusia!!!...

About José Carlos

I am 32 years old and I was born in Jaén (Andalusia). I am a young and dynamic building engineer who loves outdoor sports including hiking and all activities related to nature. Currently I live in Granada, but due my work I have lived in many cities around Spain such as Tenerife, Las Palmas, Granada and Córdoba. I love the 'El Mirador de Iznájar' and when I can, I escape from the city to enjoy this place in the company of my family.

José Carlos purchased this house in 1992

Why José Carlos chose Iznájar

The surrounding scenery is truly a paradise and the cortijo is really unique. If you love nature and being around places that get you out of the crowded and noisy city this is a good choice. On the other hand the good location allows to visit the most touristic cities in less than an hour's drive.

What makes this house unique

It is the cortijo with the best views of the Lake of Iznájar in which you can enjoy an unforgettable vacations.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Jose Carlos and family,

What a view! We just sat on the "baranda" and enjoyed the view. The children were n the pool all week and the eldest actually learned to swim without our help. We went "on discovery" between the olive trees and he children wanted to find a treasure.

Unfortunately, it started to rain. Covered in mud we finally arrived at the house, but kids believed they were real explores.

Luckily, the rest of the week was beautiful. Blue skies and temperatures between 25-30ºC.

Although the children loved the pool. we enjoyed the view the most. How nice to sit ourside in the early morning sun.

Stunning location, very convenient and definitely worth return visit and longer stay

  • 5 of 5

Stunning location and views. Nicely central to a wide variety of places to visit from Malaga, to Cordoba, to Granada, to Nerja and much much more. While it is in a remote rural location, very close to all amenities and some good and extremely reasonably priced restaurants. Highly recommended. If we could have, would have stayed much longer as it is so convenient in so many ways. House itself well appointed, lots of space and Jose was very attentive, efficient and professional in all our arrangements. Pool a blessing in the mid-summer heat and great respite after day out travelling around the region.

Peaceful and beautiful location x

  • 5 of 5

Loved the rural location amongst olive groves. The house has grape vines, fig, bay, almond, orange, lemon and pomegranate trees nearby. The house has a rustic feel though is comfortable. The air con in bedrooms is essential. We stayed during July with temps topping at 44 degrees! The house has shade till mid morning too. We particularly loved the outdoor space and the pool. The views are stunning over lake Iznajar! We loved seeing the swallows and bats fly around. Our host Jose was great, very welcoming but unobtrusive. He meet us on arrival as the villa is tricky to find at first. He also made us paella which was delish! Muchas gracias José! There are shops and restaurants nearby in Iznajar ( beware the very narrow and steep roads of driving!) and a big Mercadona supermarket in nearby Rute for all essentials! We had bbqs most nights! Great location to explore the surrounding area. Don't miss Granada and the Alhambra! I'd recommend the local Tinto de Verrano too! It's red wine with lemonade and it's delish! Overall we had a lovely holiday! My only very slight negative issue is the kitchen could do with some extra storage and poss a dishwasher and the showers could be a little better but it's a rustic house and I guess it's part of the charm! Adiós!

Everything we dreamed of

  • 5 of 5

While searching for the perfect rental home in Spain, we were more focused on the house/views than we were on the location. As we planned to stay here as part of a 20 day jaunt through Portugal and Spain, we were really only concerned with finding a home we could relax in and enjoy the pool and views. When we landed on this listing, we immediately submitted a request to book and we were absolutely delighted when it was accepted. It was only after we booked that we began to research the area and we were thrilled to find that it was located right in the heart of one of the best areas of Spain - Cordoba, Grenada, and Malaga are all about an hour's drive from here so we enjoyed a full day in Cordoba, a full day in Grenada (we loved touring the Alhambra), a day exploring Inzajar, a day swimming in the lake's blue waters, and the rest just lounging around the house and enjoying the pool. We found the location to be absolutely top notch, the communication with Jose Carlos to be very pleasant and prompt, and the accomodations to be perfect! For as long as we live, we will never forget watching the delight on our son's face as he played with Musa and Bamboo - the puppies who live in the attached house, waking up to the scent of the olive trees, watching the pidgeons that roost on the rooftop, watching the sunset over the lake as we ate dinner in one of the many outdoors spaces, or just marveling at the brilliant blue of the lake (yes, it really is that beautiful and blue!!). I have never been to a place so still and so quiet - heaven on Earth. Thank you, Jose, for allowing us use of your beautiful property. We will return again and again in our daydreams.

Simply incredible

  • 5 of 5

(We actually stayed for a week in June 2014)

What a fantastic place, matched only by it's welcoming owner. We couldn't have been more impressed with the service. Our party was greeted by José, who guided us to the villa as we arrived on a late flight. He was also enough to pick up some supplies for our first meal. Throughout the trip he was incredibly helpful and treated us to his famous paella before we left. I would definitely recommend it to any group. If I could give it 6 stars I would.

(Sorry for the late review José!) :)

Beautiful views!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed a week and found it to be a great spot in Andalucia. We took day trips to Granada, and Córdoba and explored some of the small towns near by. The house is just as pictured. The views are spectacular! The pool was perfect for late afternoon dips. We took two days as rest days and loved lounging around the pool with the kids.

As stated in other reviews Jose offered to bring us his home made paella and we accepted. It was an awesome way to end our stay. Love this place!

Just perfectly great outdoor space,&pool

  • 5 of 5

A typical Spanish villa set in the most beautiful rolling countryside overlooking the lake, just one hours drive from Malaga and you are in the real Spain. The villa had four bedrooms a comfortable lounge with all the amenities you could wish for. The outdoor space with the swimming Poolis is just fabulous with a great view over the lake. Jose is a great host with a great local knowledge and restaurants and where to visit, been coming to Spain for nearly 40 years and have found the best paella in Spain cooked by Jose just delicious. Would recommend to anybody for a quiet relaxing holiday
