Why Katie Richardson chose South Hams

My nana is the proprietor of the property I look after this site for her. Having discovered Salcombe in the 50's when she visited on holiday, Our whole family has come back again and again. Nana brought her children here (my father) and now nanas children bring theirs. After 4 generations she wanted to buy somewhere where we could all stay on our Salcombe holidays.

Soar is just far enough away from Salcombe to escape the crowds but still within easy reach to pop to the butchers or for an ice-cream.

For those who like a good walk, the cliff walk into Salcombe offers exceptional views and some great pubs along the way.

What makes this chalet unique

This lodge benefits from a fantastic rural location, where the kids can run free and play on the playground. The veranda is perfect for soaking up the sun and we have a gas BBQ great for long summer days. Marlborough is a only a short drive to the co-op offering daily fresh bread, fish and meat. Its also licensed. Tesco in Knightsbridge to also deliver to the site which is an added bonus if you've had a long drive and don't want to pack everything. The lodge really is a home from home for us though and as such we've facilitated it with all utensils you should need. We also leave a nice bottle of bubbles for your arrival.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you Betty for a most enjoyable stay, the lodge really felt like a home from home. The kids loved running about in the fields while we relaxed on the balcony. We will be back

This lodge is superb with every home comfort in a secluded but nice location.

Lovely get away with the family!

  • 4 of 5

3 nights here with my husband and our two boys who are 7 and 2. Lots of space, clean and tidy, well equipped with everything you'd need. Lovely peaceful site, beautiful weather made it even better. A great park and playground area too. A short 2 minute drive to the shop to stock up on food. We will definitely return. Thank you!

fantastic lodge

Soar Point was an amazing lodge. Spotlessly clean. Everything you could need including washing machine and dishwasher. Very comfortable sofa and solid dining table. Everything in the lodge was of top quality. Very quite site and lodges laid out so you have a good amount of privacy. Site also was kept very clean and tidy. Some lovely quiet beaches a short car journey away. Lots of places to walk. Totally enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this lodge to friends and family
