La Vinilla is a traditional yet stylish Alpujarran cortijo. 25 minutes from the coast. Just over an hour from the winter skiing of the Sierra Nevada. The gardens feature stunning plants and flowers, and orchards with lemon, lime, orange, avocado, pomegranate, apricot, cherry, almond and plenty of olives. The immaculate tiled pool is set amongst the flowers and fruit with views to the mountains and the sea. The position is privileged set high enough up the mountain to afford perfect views without being too remote, or for the roads to get tooo curvy. Orgiva is 5 min by car, or a 20 min walk. The famous attractions of the high white mountain villages of Pampaniera, Bubion and Capiliera, amongst the highest on mainland Spain, are only a short drive away. The farmhouse has exceptional views from inside and out. You can see Africa from the living room, kitchen and the shower! There is a large covered terrace and a beautiful tiled outdoor dining area, a further dining table set in the grounds, a breakfast table and hammock chairs with views to take your breath away.

Notes on accommodation: There are a few areas of the land with sheer drops which although not a problem for most, are unadvisable for younger children and toddlers. Naked flames, cigarettes and coal BBQs are forest fire hazards in the dry months post April. We have a gas BBQ for this reason. Outside: The gardens are beautiful, featuring dry stone walls and pretty flowers, potted plants, fruit trees, almonds and olives. There is a pretty, immaculate tiled pool set amongst the flowers, with fabulous views. The pool is 8mx 5m with pump house. Toolshed and outdoor eco toilet with a view set further from the house . There is a parking area near the house. Utility Room: Toaster, blender, beautiful cutlery and table wear. Fridge freezer, oven, hob, pantry, dining table, outside dining table and breakfast table. Olive oil from the farm, amongst other necessities in the pantry as a welcome pack. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bath towels, beach towels and linen is included. Gardens are well maintained , and pool cleaned fastidiously throughout the year. Other: There is an additional eco toilet in the garden. A loo with a view!

A paradise: cosy house, wonderful garden, pool and views

This was our second stay at la Vinilla. The house is great and works perfectly to support outside living. Lovely areas to relax and dine outside. The garden and pool are such a paradise that we hardly went anywhere else (except to get more supplies), despite the wonderful surrounding country, villages and walks. The view from the property is astounding: a daily pleasure.

We are walkers, and it isn't a property to walk directly from. You need a car to give you daily access to great walks. We just stayed there because we loved being there. There is a direct walk, however, into Orgiva which can be done by the intrepid with rucksacs for the shopping!

It makes a difference. Regarding the walking, I must apologise for not mentioning on the information emails that you can walk to Cañar from the house, and pick up the GR7 which goes diagonally across Spain! A bit of an omission! Oh well, you'll just have to come back again next year to walk it!

A wonderful retreat with phenomenal views

We absolutely loved our week in La Vinilla. The house, gardens and pool make it a very special place, not to mention the phenomenal views! We loved the fact that no-one overlooked us and we felt as though we were in our own private little paradise! We also appreciated the accessibility to Granada, the seafront and so many other highlights in Andalucia.Teresa could not have been more helpful with our questions before the trip. We'll certainly be recommending La Vinilla to our friends and would love to return some time soon.

Perfect place to stay

Simply perfect. Lovely house which has been modernised with care for function and comfort. The gardens and surrounding groves are beautiful, and the views absolutely stunning. Of all the wonderful things about the finca and its grounds, the best is the variety of places to sit and relax (reading or absorbing the surroundings); there was always somewhere perfect for the time of day and heat of the sun. The pool was a total pleasure. The farmhouse is very conveniently placed quite near Orgiva (easy walk down) and close by heaps of interesting and beautiful places to visit/walk/bird-watch.

A special farmhouse

We have stayed at various cortijos in this area over the years. This is the best. We have just returned from a 10 day stay. The property is as described by the owner who has been very helpful throughout the booking process. The property itself is clean, well maintained with excellent facilities. There are several restaurants in the area, but we found ourselves sourcing local food and wine from markets and shops in the area. There are several terraces on the ample grounds which are full of magnificent flowers shrubs and trees. The pool area is fantastic and we spent most evenings eating al-fresco and admiring stunning views over the mountains, all the way to the coast. We can not fault this property, would recommend it to friends and relatives and hope to return in the near future.

Beautiful villa with wonderful views and gardens.

We have recently returned from a weeks stay. The villa is beautiful, the owners have kept the beauty of a rustic farmhouse, with all the modern additions, such as the air conditioning, Wi-Fi etc. It was well equipped with everything you need, as we spent most evenings cooking and eating on the terrace admiring the views. The gardens were very colourful, with lots of flowers and there were plenty of seating areas, so you could enjoy the views from all different areas of the gardens. The pool was large and clean, with comfortable sun loungers and umbrellas if you wanted some shade. Terri was a fantastic host, very helpful with providing useful tips of the area, she even arranged our wedding anniversary dinner at a local restaurant in Orgiva and a taxi back! The whole experience was lovely and relaxing and we will certainly be going back! I have already recommended to friends and family.

La Alpujarra is an excellent area for walking and hiking.

Coast/Beach:

The coast is only a short 25 mins drive. Beautiful beaches of Salobreña and Almuñecar at close hand with natural coves and chiringuito beach restaurants. The beaches are very clean here and considerably more quiet than the other costas nearby.

Travel:

Malaga airport is an hour and a half drive away. Granada airport is less, approx 50 mins. Car hire is essential realistically, although Orgiva is a 20 mins walk.

Distances:

Granada is approx 50 mins by car, Malaga is 1.5 hours by car, Marbella just over 2 hours by car.

Further Details:

There are numerous supermarkets, banks and cashlines, bars and restaurants in Orgiva. There are bakeries and cafés, and the Thursday open air market for local produce. The church is worth a visit as it is very beautiful and dominates the town. Higher up the mountain, the restaurants and shops of the mountain villages are special, and full of tourists, all year round. There is a particularly alpine feel to these villages in the colder months with snow visible on the peaks of Mulhacen and Valeta. They are something to behold. The beaches of Salobreña and Motril or Almuñecar are pretty and natural and only 25 mins by car. The peaks of the Sierra Nevada are visible virtually from the beach. One truly unique pleasure of the area is to ski in the morning and sun bathe by the sea in the afternoon. Is there anywhere else in the world where the ski slopes are an easy hours drive from the sunny coast? Granada city has to be the most beautiful in Andalucia, and the famous hospitality dictates that no drink can be served without a free tapa to accompany it.
