About this property

Charming Cottage, pet friendly, large garden, parking, rural,Helford River,

Condurrow, in Cornish literally means 'Between The Waters' and this beautiful period farm cottage is situated very close to the Helford River and within three minutes drive of the tranquil hamlet of St Anthony and Gillan creek, ideal for boat hire to explore the lovely Helford River and Frenchman's Creek. It gives easy access to the coastal footpaths, and the beautiful coves and beaches of the Helford and Manaccan area. Manaccan & Helford villages, with pubs, restaurants and essential supplies are only half a mile away. we have a lovely Facebook page. The cottage dates from 1705 but is fully modernised inside, rich in character and charm, with lovely original beamed ceilings, new Wood Burning Stoves in both fireplaces. It is continually warmed in the colder months by the kitchen Rayburn. There is a spacious, private half acre of mature, well-stocked gardens, with off-road parking for cars and boat trailers. The garden is equipped with rattan furniture and BBQ and is an ideal haven for children. Beyond the garden the woodland is being re-claimed into a woodland walk through into the orchard. The bottom of the garden is used for storage. The comfortable, well furnished living room, with TV Freeview, DVD, radio and high Speed Wi-fi infinity has a new wood burner and night store heater, and some wood is supplied out of season, and can be purchased locally. The dining room seats 6 and has a wonderful inglenook feature fireplace complete with Wood Burning Stove and the original Cornish bread oven. There is a night store heater with fan. The well equipped kitchen also seats 6 people, with an electric oven and dishwasher, and is warmed by the oil fired Rayburn in winter months. There is a good utility room, with washing machine, tumble drier, american style fridge freezer and an adjoining downstairs toilet and shower. Upstairs there are three bedrooms and a family bathroom with views over the lovely garden, fields and woodland beyond. The river is just below the woods and can be glimsed through the trees bordering the garden. There is one very good sized double room, one twin with zip beds converting to a King Size Bed and a smaller room with twin beds.. All the bedrooms have fitted wardrobes and the two larger rooms have electric heaters. Linen is provided, and towels on request .A cot and a high chair are available.
Dogs are welcome and we ask that you respect other visitors and do not allow them upstairs or on the furniture. This lovely Cornish cottage is truly a home from home, in a very rural setting, near to the Helford River and the waters of Gillian and Carne Creek. Condurrow is the complete Cornish Cottage experience.
In Spring the cottage is ideally situated for many of the wonderful gardens that are open from Easter throughout the Summer. Take the ferry to Helford Passage and walk to the famous Trebah and Glendurgan Gardens, or visit Bosahan immediately next to the cottage.
The sandy beaches of Kennack Sands and the Lizard Peninsula including the well known Kynance cove, where some of the Poldark Series has recently been filmed, are a short drive from the cottage.
The village of Porthleven is a 'foody heaven' with Rick Steins and many other great resturants and cafes, with lovely coastal cliff walks and the Penrose Estate. Further along the coast will take you to Rinsey with it's old Tin Mines and Praa Sands for Surfing and then onto Marazion with the Causeway to St. Michaels Mount. Beautiful and spacious character property
A beautiful cottage in a lovely location with a fantastic garden, a little out of the way but we knew that when we booked. Relatively easy to get to many of Cornwall’s gems as long as you don’t mind narrow, twisty country lanes. Very accommodating host.

Nice location
Lovely cosy cottage but lack of outside lighting was a problem also as we had dogs an un fenced drop meant we could not let dogs have freedom of garden although we'll fenced. Still would recommend as very comfy

Beautiful cottage in gorgeous garden
What a lovely place to stay. The cottage is surprisingly roomy, is in an excellent location for exploring the Lizard peninsula, close to the South West coastal path and the sea, just round the corner from Helford. Jane replies rapidly to communication too. We had a wonderful, relaxed holiday here. One thing - which won’t be relevant to most people - is that the wi Fi is not up to videoconferencing . It’s fine for email and Google most of the time but don’t plan to work from here (and why would you….?!).

About the host

Hosted by Jane Benney

Host profile image
I was born and brought up at Condurrow Cottage, which was purchased by my mother from Bosahan Estate in the early 1950s as a run down farm cottage. It was a wonderful area to grow up in, the area is truly beautiful with the Helford River virtually on the door step, we learned quickly to row and sail, having wonderful freedom to explore the footpaths and beaches. I have spent nearly the whole of my life here, running a business on the river and being actively involved in the community.
I now live, with my husband in Helford which is 1 mile away, and my life still centres very much around the river and surrounding area. My hobbies are sailing, riding, gardening and walking.

Why they chose this property

Condurrow was purchased by my mother before her marriage, and together with my brother two generations of our family have been born and brought up here. Its situation to the Helford River make it a lovely place to live, just out of Manaccan village it is ideal for peace and quiet although there is a nearby working farm so it is not too remote. It has easy access to the coastal footpath and beaches and is close to beautiful gardens which are so famous in this area of Cornwall.

What makes this property unique

The house surrounds you in a warm and welcome feeling the moment you enter. It is warm in the winter with the Raeburn in the kitchen and is just as ideal for 2 persons but as comfortable for 6. The lovely large garden affords privacy and is stocked with beautiful mature camellias, it is a wonderful Cornish garden, with plenty of off road parking. It is very close to St. Anthony and Helford giving easy access to the Helford River. The coastal path is very close and allows wonderful walking around the area with sea views and lovely countryside in an AREA OF OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY.
