Condurrow Cottage, St.Anthony, Manaccan and Helford River, Cornwall - Ideal For Exploring Cornish Costal Paths, Beaches, Coves, Rivers, And The Famous Frenchmans Creek

New Year Short Breaks available. Condurrow, in Cornish literally means 'Between The Waters' and this beautiful period farm cottage is situated close to the Helford River and within minutes of the tranquil hamlet of St Anthony and Gillan creek, ideal for boat hire to explore the lovely Helford River and Frenchman's Creek. It gives easy access to the costal footpaths, and the beautiful coves and beaches of the Helford and Manaccan area. Manaccan & Helford villages, with pubs, restaurants and essential supplies are only half a mile away. The cottage dates from 1705 but is fully modernised inside, rich in character and charm, with lovely original beamed ceilings, new Wood Burning Stove & open fireplace. It is continually warmed in the colder months by the kitchen Rayburn. There is a spacious, private half acre of mature, well-stocked gardens, with off-road parking for cars and boat trailers. The garden is equipped with teak furniture and BBQ and is an ideal haven for children. The comfortable, well furnished living room, with TV Freeview, DVD, radio and high Speed Wi-fi infinity has an open fireplace and night store heater, and some wood is supplied out of season, and can be purchased locally. The dining room seats 6 and has a wonderful inglenook feature fireplace complete with Wood Burning Stove and the original Cornish bread oven. There is a night store heater with fan. The well equipped kitchen also seats 6 people, with an electric oven and dishwasher, and is warmed by the oil fired Rayburn in winter months. There is a good utility room, with washing machine, tumble drier, and an adjoining downstairs toilet and shower. Upstairs there are three bedrooms and a family bathroom with views over the lovely garden, fields and woodland beyond. The river is just below the woods. There is one very good sized double room, one twin with zip beds converting to a King Size Bed and a smaller room with twin beds.. All the bedrooms have fitted wardrobes and electric heaters. Linen is provided, but not towels, and a cot and a high chair are available.

Dogs are welcome but must remain in the kitchen and utility room area. This lovely Cornish cottage is truly a home from home, in a very rural setting, near to the Helford River and the waters of Gillian and Carne Creek.

In Spring the cottage is ideally situated for many of the wonderful gardens that are open from Easter throughout the Summer. Take the ferry to Helford Passage and walk to the famous Trebah and Glendurgan Gardens, or visit Bosahan immediately next to the cottage.

The sandy beaches of Kennack Sands and the Lizard Peninsula including the well known Kynance cove, where some of the Poldark Series has recently been filmed, are a short drive from the cottage.

The village of Porthleven is a 'foody heaven' with Rick Steins and many other great resturants and cafes, with lovely coastal cliff walks and the Penrose Estate. Further along the coast will take you to Rinsey with it's old Tin Mines and Praa Sands for Surfing and then onto Marazion with the Causeway to St. Michaels Mount.

About the Owner

I was born and brought up at Condurrow Cottage, which was purchased by my mother from Bosahan Estate in the early 1950s as a run down farm cottage. It was a wonderful area to grow up in, the area is truly beautiful with the Helford River virtually on the door step, we learned quickly to row and sail, having wonderful freedom to explore the footpaths and beaches. I have spent nearly the whole of my life here, running a business on the river and being actively involved in the community.

I now live, with my husband in Helford which is 1 mile away, and my life still centres very much around the river and surrounding area. My hobbies are sailing, riding, gardening and walking.

Wonderful holiday home in an idyllic location

  • 4 of 5

This is a perfect house for a stay in a lovely unspoilt corner of Cornwall. If you like the sound of traffic, you would hate the location: if however you just want to listen to bird-calls and the cows in the farm opposite, you will love it!

The house itself provides good comfortable accommodation and it retains its oldy-worldy charm. Everything we needed was provided and catered for. The garden outside is equally lovely and we enjoyed sitting in it with our wine!

Nearby Helford is stunning and we had two very good meals at the Shipwrights Arms. The local village store is also very good with basic requirements and local produce. During our stay, we visited beautiful Kynance Cove: well worth the walk down and a very good cafe overlooking the beach. Didn't think much of The Lizard! The community has saved the local pub in Manaccan itself and I hope that visitors support the venture: it will do well once they start food.

Jane is a very thoughtful owner and I will certainly make plans to return later in the year.

Beautiful, spacious cosy cottage

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we arrived at Condorrow we felt able to relax. It was warm, clean and very comfortable. The beds were comfortable too, so important when you are on a much needed holiday! The kitchen is the heart of this wonderful cottage, and we enjoyed meals around the table with family, who were equally impressed with Condorrow. We also enjoyed coffee and wine in the tranquil garden, a beautiful, peaceful haven with the sound of birdsong.

Jane provided excellent service from the moment I made an enquiry. We look forward to returning! Thank you Jane for the use of this very special place.

Owner's Response: Thank you. It was a pleasure to meet you both and I am delighted you had a lovely break. Several of my friends have told me they met you iand at the Porthallow film night, and I am so pleased you found our little community so welcoming. I look forward to hopefully welcoming you to Condurrow in the future, I am always trying to improve the cottage and hope to install a wood burner in the dining room for next Autumn, which will help with the cold Springs we are experiencing. With best wishes Jane

Fantastic rural retreat

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here during the winter for a quiet getaway. The property was clean, warm and comfortable. We will most certainly be booking Condurrow Cottage again, hopefully in the spring / summer to make the most of all the surrounding activities available including the beautiful coastal areas for beach BBQ's, sailing and walking.

Location

From the Owner

Condurrow was purchased by my mother before her marriage, and together with my brother two generations of our family have been born and brought up here. Its situation to the Helford River make it a lovely place to live, just out of Manaccan village it is ideal for peace and quiet although there is a nearby working farm so it is not too remote. It has easy access to the coastal footpath and beaches and is close to beautiful gardens which are so famous in this area of Cornwall.
