Guestbook comments from the owner

We stayed for one week this Summer in the Petit Longere. It is situated in a lovely quite area. We enjoyed some great walking and cycling from the Gite, also in the Huelgoat Forest where we saw a Pinemarten. The garden was lovely with lots of lovely butterflies, we also had a daily visit from a Hummingbird Hawkmoth. One day I turned around to see a hare watching me. We enjoyed seeing and feeding the Feral cats, the kittens were cute. The inside of the Gite was very nice and well equipped. We found the Website very helpful. Also as we were three weeks into a four week tour, it was great to have wifi to Skype our Grandchildren. Thank you to Maria and Andy for a nice stay at their Gite.

An absolute gem. Really loved the property, it's location and warm, relaxing feel throughout. We found the gite via a Tweet on Twitter and as we were in Brittany for 6 nights, following a wedding in Laval, we decided that the information stated on the gite's website 'ticked' all the boxes for our requirements. We were delighted when we arrived and realised it exceeded our expectations. Roomy yet cosy, clean, well-equipped and perfect for a 'get-away-from-it-all' vacation. Free Wifi and reasonable mobile phone coverage too. The gardens/outside areas were again well-equipped with chairs, tables, BBQ, games etc

Cannot stress enough what a fabulous time we had and would love to return one day. Contact with the owner was prompt, professional yet friendly and being able to pay via UK bank transfer was a bonus.

The Gite was beautiful. There was everything provide with no expense spared. The beds were extremely comfortable with lovely views across the countryside and very quiet. The walk with the dogs was great, a lovely lane down to a river for hours of fun splashing in the water and chasing sticks. There was plenty of information and maps so we could plan our days and nothing was very far away. The beaches were brilliant, nearest one about 45 minutes away, we had a great walk through the huge rocks at Huelgoat and a cider tasting just up the road from the Gite. The whole holiday was delightful and I have already recommended it to several people. Although we had beautiful weather when we were there I can only imagine how cosy and warm it would be to have a holiday in the cooler months, something we may have to sample at a later date. So if you are looking for a quiet, rural, restful piece of luxury then this is place for you with the added bonus of a miriad of activities in easy reach.

The Grande Longere gite is located in peaceful countryside near Huelgoat in central Brittany, France. It is completely independent of our accommodation next door. The cottage has been converted from traditional Breton agricultural buildings to a comfortable standard and has lots of rustic charm. There is loads of space for the family to spread out in and enjoy. Feature items include exposed stonework, ceiling beams, wooden floors, open beamed fireplaces with inset wood burners. The living accommodation is spread over two floors. The gite is reached via a level driveway opening to a large gravelled parking area (2 cars). We are child and dog friendly. Pets are welcome by prior arrangement at an additional cost. There is a large lawned garden to front and back of the gite with a gravelled patio with BBQ, chimenea and garden furniture, bench and sun loungers. A small paddling pool is available. Our football goal is popular as well as our bikes.

Wonderful stay in glorious countryside

  • 5 of 5

We knew it looked nice on the website, but it exceeded every expectation. A warm welcome from Andy & Maria, ' Tiy Hir ' is a lovely comfortable traditional french farmhouse, spotlessly clean and well equipped. The gardens are beautiful, and full of butterflies, which kept us entranced for hours as we sat with a glass of wine enjoying the sunshine views. There's plenty to do, everything is within less than an hours drive or a pedal to the local villages. If you love walking, cycling, visiting chateaus and gardens, or just sitting in a french cafe watching the world go by, it's perfect. We did all of the above and more. It was so peaceful there, and the bed so comfortable, we've had the best nights sleep for months. Can't wait to go back, hire electric bikes, visit antique markets again and take my oil paints with me.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the wonderful review Georgia. We enjoyed having you visit our little piece of Brittany and are so glad that you had such a great time. The butterflies have put on an amazing display this summer! Whilst we love the rolling hills around here an electric bike sounds like a great idea, much easier and you can enjoy the views more. Looking forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Perfect Country Escape

  • 5 of 5

This is the most beautiful property that is very well maintained - both the gardens and the house. It lived up to every expectation and more. The house is spacious, I loved the main bedroom with ensuite, it is full of character, comfortable and has plenty of storage. The kitchen/dining area is huge and there are 2 living areas that are cosy and homely. We didn't use these much as we had such beautiful weather we spend our evenings outside in the peace and beautiful garden. In cooler weather we would have loved to light the fire in one of these cosy living rooms and sit with a nice glass of red in front of the fire! Maybe next time! The location is isolated, which is perfect for privacy and tranquility, however, it is an easy drive to many small villages and even to the coast. I would advice a visit to Huelgoat (on a Thursday as it's market day) as this is a quaint village with plenty to see including a wonderful walk through the forest to see the gigantic boulders. All food and wine in the area was amazing, we had a great experience everywhere we went. Thank you Andy and Maria for being such wonderful hosts and giving great advice on the local area. We loved every minute of our stay.

Comfortable cottage, peaceful location

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely stay at Ty Hir with our daughters (ages 12 and 14) in August 2016. The location is beautifully rural and peaceful. The only noise is birdsong. During the entire week of our stay only one car passed by on the small country lane/track . The cottage was very comfortable and well-equipped with many thoughtful touches (soap in bathrooms, cleaning supplies in kitchen). Good selection of games, books and DVDs. Communication with Maria was terrific – she answered all our questions thorough and swiftly before our visit. Local (English) caretakers were very helpful as well. The information provided on their website (lostinfinistere.com) and in the information guide within the cottage was absolutely amazing! Fantastic beaches within 45 mins to 1 hour drive on the Finistere peninsula. We were really pleased to have British television during the Olympics. The only (minor) sticking point was the quality of broadband which was a challenge with two teenage daughters! It was just about adequate to send email, but not for searching the web. Overall, a lovely week spent in one of our favourite parts of France and I would happily return.

Owner's Response: We are so glad to hear that your family enjoyed the peace and quiet during your stay at Ty Hir. We try to make it a home from home. The internet connection can be slowed down by data being uploaded and downloaded in the background which is a particular problem with iPhones and iPads. Personally we've not had problems browsing the internet or connecting to work intranets. Hopefully this meant that you all had more family time together which is the most important thing. We look forward to meeting you personally in the future.
