About Rupert Maitland

I live with my wife, three daughters, two cats and two dogs (phew!) in Hove, on the South Coast of England. I jointly own our flat in Earls Court Square with my sister, Kate.

Rupert Maitland purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Rupert Maitland chose Kensington

We have owned a few flats in Earls Court over the last few years because we like the area, it is very central and because the houses are so beautifully designed. So when one came up on Earls Court Square, we jumped at the chance. Whilst Earls Court itself is a bustling cosmopolitan hub, the square itself is remarkably quiet, especially if you treat yourself to a stroll in the private communal garden, weather permitting of course!

Great Flat! Wonderful Stay.

  • 5 of 5

The flat is within easy walking distance to Underground. Stayed in London for 8 days and only used the Underground and trains. Flat has all of the amenities and the park across the street is a wonderful place to take a stroll. Plenty of local restaurants and vegetarian options. If you are there on a Sunday, there is a Farmer's Market right around the corner.

Very beautiful property. Clean and neat. Very close to underground and nice part of London.

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed our stay at Earls Court. Great accessibility to the underground. Grocery store nearby which we utilized to pick up breakfast food, snacks and one evening meal. Flat is cleannand well cared for. Living room seating not real comfortable but would stay here again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Earl's Court. It was an excellent location from which to explore the city--even for a short stay. Thank you for your assistance!

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

This home was in the perfect location! Very convenient to get to and from Heathrow airport, and we found it was a great base for getting around the city. Lots of restaurants in the neighborhood, along with many places to pick up groceries or wine. Everything was very comfortable and there was coffee, tea and milk waiting for us when we arrived. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to London. Thanks for making us feel so welcome!

Wonderful place in a great neighborhood, but not ideal for tall people!

  • 4 of 5

We absolutely loved Rupert's place! The apartment is very stylish, beautiful bedding, very comfortable beds, very clean. The location was amazing, a short walk from the tube - Earl's Court. Plenty of groceries stores in our way home - a M&S, plus a Tesco right near the apartment. A good coffee shop just around the corner, and tons of restaurants, including a great Italian place we loved. The washer-dryer combo was also very nice to have. The building is located a fairly quiet neighborhood. We loved the garden across the street and the old cemetery not far from the flat, and my daughter had tons of fun running around!

The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because this is not the ideal place for tall people. Although the living room has a very tall ceiling, the ceiling was very low in both bedrooms and bathrooms, and both my husband who is 6'3" and myself at 5'11" felt like Gandalf in Bilbo's hobbit house and had to be careful not to hit our heads. However, for an average height person that should not be a problem. Overall, a great location to see London and we had a great time! Thank you, Rupert!

Beautiful place in perfect location

  • 4 of 5

Wonderful property and I would highly recommend to families or 1-2 couples. Very well maintained inside the apartment. The garden is fantastic especially if you have kids. You can't beat the location for restaurants, tube and walkability to city sites.

Now the cons, which are minor.

Ground floor apartment with gorgeous big windows and no AC, so you can't air the place out without feeling a bit exposed. I guess it is typical for London flats to lack AC. The provided fans made it ok.

The mattresses were quite short which might be a European standard, but my 6'2" husband's feet hung way over.

Lastly, I had an issue the first day getting into the apartment (I did not open an attachment in my email that had all the info) and was unable to reach the owner/manager over a two day period. I complained about this and Rupert, who was on a boat and unreachable, was very receptive to my criticism. Hopefully, they will have better coverage for emergencies in the future.

Overall, a great experience.
