Fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a fantastic week. We went away with our friends and their two boys. The cottage was the perfect size for us with two double bedrooms and a triple room for the three boys. There is a wonderful garden area with a BBQ which we enjoyed nearly every night. We also made us of the washing machine and clothes line which is a great addition. The other cottages look great too. We loved the quiet location near gorgeous Dyffryn beach and much preferred it to busy Barmouth. Sue and Richard made us feel so welcome and the home made bread and rock cakes on arrival were amazing! We shall definitely return.

Cosy home from home - recommended

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 stayed here for 6 days and found the place a home from home. The cake and exceptionally good homemade bread awaiting us on arrival went down a treat during the week (don't forget to send us the recipe Sue! :o) ).

Ys Gubor is a well equipped cottage - there's is everything you need in the kitchen and there are two bathrooms, one ensuite. There are two double rooms (one upstairs my daughter had and the ensuite downstairs that we had, with a comfy firm super king size bed). There is also a small single bedroom just outside the upstairs double, and my son had a 3 single bed bedroom all to himself.

The free wifi was very useful for researching places to stay (and for the children's social media fix). The Sky TV package was also useful for the evenings, and there are various family games and a bookshelf with lots of novels.

Location-wise, you are very close to lovely Barmouth, Harlech Castle, half an hour from Portmeirion, just over an hour from Llanberis/Snowdon and Caernarfon which we all managed to go to. We also got to Plas Newydd on Anglesey in 75 minutes. So plenty to do. Would also recommend visiting the Blue Lake near Fairbourne about 30 mins away - short steep path to a small quarry with a deep blue pool. The only way in is via a short tunnel in the rock. Kids loved it.

The local beach is a short 10/15 minute walk away but when the tide's fully in its pebbly - kids loved playing on the dunes though. Unfortunately it also seemed to be popular with dog walkers (some irresponsible judging by the dog poos I saw - a 'pet' hate of mine).

Would recommend this place for any family wanting a good base to see North/Mid Wales.

Stunning location, lovey cottage a real find

  • 5 of 5

I booked this cottage as a last minute break away as I felt my new born baby was ready for his first trip to the seaside! Upon arrival we were welcomed by the lovely owners Richard & Sue whom showed us around the cottage. There was freshly baked bread & cakes ready for us too a real treat. The cottage is compact but has everything you need and more, we made dinner every night there and the kitchen was well stocked with all the cooking essentials you could possibly need. The bed was very comfy and we were very cosy there for our three night beak. We walked the very short distance to the stunning sandy beach every night. The cottage was everything we'd hoped and we will be back.
