Guestbook comments from the manager

"Excellent"

Churchyard Cottage is an excellent weekend away. The cottage itself is situated in a small village near Swindon and is easily accessible from both the M4 and A34. The Cottage is furnished luxuriously and it is clear that the owners have spent a serious amount of time, effort, and love on decorating the interior; with particular attention to detail. The bed is very soft and well furnished, the bath and shower are both excellent, and the kitchen is well-equipped. But what stands out most about Churchyard Cottage are the little things. There was milk, butter, and a bottle of white wine in the fridge. There were toiletries, towels, and dressing gowns available in the bathroom. There was even a heater installed beneath the oven to warm up a small cold-spot in the kitchen. I would highly recommend this as a weekend, or week, away for a couple. There are enough things to do in the local area, but more importantly, the cottage itself is an exceptionally pleasant place to stay and unwind. I will most certainly look to return in future.

Perfect get away from it all.

Beautiful cottage, everything two people and their dog could want. Walks on the doorstep and friendly pub with good food and beer two minutes away. In heart of the countryside it's like stepping back in time, every day is like an old fashioned Sunday, hardly any traffic, lovely. It's perfect for walkers, so many choices right on the doorstep. A fabulous roll top bath at the end of the day and a wonderful shower to get you going in the morning. It was truly a perfect place , we loved it.

From the minute we drove up we were in love with this property! Quiet surroundings and all the comforts of home. Especially enjoyed the two local pubs, one just a walk down the road...and the Church...and the hills behind the church...all of it was just perfect. We used this as a hub to explore and it was was the perfect spot!

A tastefully furnished, cosy, comfortable cottage.

Enjoyed our stay, lovely local pub and walks on the doorstep. Good base to explore, enjoyed Castle Combe and Oxford. It was a pleasure to come back to the cottage after a day out, relaxing in the bath and in front of the log burner!

Perfect retreat for rest & relaxation

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Churchyard Cottage was fantastic. The cottage is gorgeous and very comfortable. Log burning stove, roll top bath, fantastic bedroom and the shower is amazing. We went to get away and relax and that is exactly what we did.

Local pub is staggering distance away which is nicely convenient but as we had my boyfriend's dog with us we walked to a great pub in a nearby village too.

Being next to the church you do hear the church bells but we didn't find it too disruptive and otherwise the location is super quiet. It was exactly what we needed and would definitely recommend it. Only tiny quibble would be that the bed is a little soft, but everything else about the cottage is idyllic so doesn't detract the overall experience of staying here.
