My name is Abigail Gibbs. I am twenty years old and I am currently a finalist reading English Language and Literature at Oxford University. I spend some of my vacations writing here, its where I can enjoy the peace and quiet and solitude required to pen that next chapter. My first book The Dark Heroine was published in 2012 by Harper Collins after being spotted on an internet writing site, where I already had a fan base emerging. When time permitted between studies, I completed my second book in the series, aptly named 'Autumn Rose'. which was launched in January 2014. I hope to continue my writing career following my graduation later this year.

Fantastic Bungalow with lovely views

We had a fantastic week weather was glorious and we sat outside looking at views over the bay until sun went down

Bungalow was immaculate with everything you could possibly need and few added extras which were a very pleasant suprise Thank you Wendy you are a star We would highley recommend bungalow to friends and family We found William of Orange near Marina was excellent value for carvery and Breakwater Bistro had some fantastic fish dishes there is so much to see and do in Torbay

Great location and super views.

Lovely clean bungalow which was just perfect for a short break to explore the surrounding area. Super secure garden for our dog and everything we needed. We had a great day travelling by bus and steam train and walking the coastal path. We booked the bungalow at really short notice and what a good choice.

Sea Whisper is a beautiful bungalow in a very quiet position. Lovely views from the garden, unfortunately too cold to sit out! Very clean and well equipped, everything we needed. A lovely area to explore.

A lovely relaxing place to spend a holiday.

The property was very clean and in a lovely position for views over Torbay. It was immaculate inside with all domestic items and equipment needed for a stay there. We had a small problem with the shower head holder but when we telephoned the owner this was rectified immediately. There is a bus stop nearby. Loved our visit to NT Greenway House and Coleton Fishacre, as well as the steam train and ferry ride to Dartmouth. Simply Fish in Brixham serves very good fish and chips. would definitely recommend the bungalow to friends.

Clean, Comfortable and Well Equipped

In a quiet area of town with great views. We really enjoyed our stay here and made the most of the lovely enclosed back garden, getting some extra sun after a hard days sight seeing! We visited Greenway, Agatha Christie's holiday home which we really enjoyed seeing. An interesting house and beautiful gardens.

We were able to really relax and enjoy our stay and I would thoroughly recommend Sea Whisper.

Sea Whisper has been used by my extended family for some 10 years. Cousins, Aunts and Uncles would always love to come and stay here in Brixham. Torquay was voted by the public as the best UK resort on the website Trip Advisor, therefore it is not surprising the bungalow was always a popular destination. It is well equipped for self catering and has a secure garden ideal for young children.

Activity and Interests


Over 100 fishing boats land and sell their catch in Brixham at the local fish market on the quayside which is just over a mile away. There is a regular bus service into Brixham available from the property.

The lovely family beaches of Broadsands and Goodrington are roughly 2 miles away great for sandcastles or rockpooling. For those keen on walking or seeking a quiet cove an amble through Churston woods leads to some pretty beaches all within a mile or two.


Nearest airport is Exeter some 28 miles away. Paignton train station is 5 miles where connections can be taken to the mainline stations enabling visitors to access Plymouth and Exeter.

Sea Whisper is on a bus route therefore a car would not be essential, however to appreciate all the area has to offer a car would be recommended. Car hire is available in Paignton


The towns of Torbay including Torquay, Paignton and Brixham are all within a 7 mile radius.

Brixham has a viewing platform allowing visitors a unique opportunity to watch the comings and goings of the fleet. Around the quay there are numerous restaurants serving the days catch, as well as pubs and shops, creating a wonderful vibrant atmosphere in the classic English fishing port.

The nearest villages are Churston and Galmpton both offering lovely characterful pubs which serve good food.

Brixham is a quaint fishing town and with colourful houses lining the harbour. . While fishing is Brixham's main industry, it is also able to provide plenty for the tourist , with plenty of food shops such as the Brixham Deli and the West country Deli, cafés such as Millie & Me, and bar's such as the Old Market House on the harbour. The harbour has a great continental feel, especially in the summer, when you can sit outside and enjoy fish which has been caught that very morning.

The Golden Hind replica sits in the inner harbour and combined with the 500 berth marina and Breakwater, make Brixham a boat lovers paradise. You can learn about the town's maritime history in the Heritage museum. Boat trips and fishing trips leave the harbour daily. Brixham has one of the largest working fishing ports in the country, adding to the nautical activity.

For lovers of the steam era there is a heritage steam railway running form Paignton to Dartmouth.

There is much more to see and do in Brixham, including the seawater swimming pool at Shoal stone, woodland walks at Churston, and the Napoleonic Fort and Country Park at Berry Head. This nature reserve forms part of the South West Coast Path with stunning views along the coastline.

Brixham has an annual Pirate Festival on the first bank holiday in May. Brixfest (Brixham Heritage Festival) is at the end of May with many attractions including fireworks, Brixham Steam Rally in August and finally Fishstock held in early September is a one day festival to celebrate food and music and everything about fish and fishing.

Torbay has a warm climate and award winning beaches and fantastic walks for you to enjoy.

South Devon is the perfect place for any holiday. Offering both activities and relaxation. It is suitable for cosy couples or family fun, the South coast simply has it all

Surrounded by many pretty villages like Cockington near Torquay, beautiful beaches such as Blackpool Sands near Dartmouth.

I am very fortunate to have been brought up here in Brixham with my two brothers, we always enjoyed sailing off the breakwater and rowing on the river at Dartmouth. My personal recommendations for places to visit would be Paignton Zoo Dartmoor with of course a devon cream tea Babbacombe model village and I especially enjoyed crabbing at Stoke Gabriel. I hope you too can enjoy all that this beautiful area has to offer.
