Charming and Cosy Cottage With Enclosed Garden In A Country Setting

Overview

Property

Updated: 05-Dec-2016
3 Bedroom Cottage in Colwall, in the Malvern Hills Area - Hillside Location With Fantastic Walks Straight From The Door

Garden Cottage was formerly the gardener's cottage for Perrycroft, a grade 2* listed Arts and Crafts house designed by the renowned architect C F A Voysey in 1893. The cottage is situated high on the west side of the Malvern Hills with far reaching views across Herefordshire. Set in its own small enclosed garden, the cottage gives access into the gardens of Perrycroft which are open regularly to visitors for the NGS scheme, and also into the heart of the Malvern Hills. You can step straight from the garden onto the Hills with splendid walks in all directions. The cottage has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a separate downstairs WC. The King sized bedroom has a large ensuite shower room, and the twin and single rooms share a family bathroom, both in a contemporary style. The single room can be made into a twin on request with the addition of another full size single bed. The kitchen has been carefully designed with traditional solid wood cupboards, slate work tops and all modern facilities. In addition to the well equipped kitchen is a comfortable Sitting Room with books and games, as well as TV and DVD, and a charming atmospheric Dining Room with an antique table and chairs, and a cushion strewn window seat. Both Sitting and Dining Rooms have Morso Squirrel wood burning stoves. From the Sitting Room you can step out through a French door on to the terrace where there is a table with seating for six people, as well as a cosy bench tucked under the eaves of the house. Garden Cottage has been lovingly restored and carefully furnished in a traditional but comfortable style. Wherever possible we have tried to source locally in the restoration, for instance using Welsh slate for the ground floors, which have underfloor heating. The aim has been to present a cottage with historic detailing but contemporary comforts. Notes:

  • Garden Cottage was the gardener's cottage for Perrycroft, a house built in 1895 by the renowned Arts and Crafts architect CFA Voysey. Although Garden Cottage was not designed by Voysey, and in fact pre-dates Perrycroft, it was renovated in the early part of the 20th century in a style sympathetic to Arts and Crafts architecture. We have lived at Perrycroft for more than 15 years, and having restored the main house were delighted to have the chance to bring Garden Cottage back to life and refurbish it as a holiday cottage, so that we can share our very special corner of the Malvern Hills. We have tried to keep the historic character of the cottage while furnishing and equipping it to provide a comfortable and relaxing holiday. Set in the Malvern Hills AONB, the cottage is superbly situated for walkers and for anyone who enjoys being in the heart of the beautiful English countryside, while being also close to the amenities of nearby towns such as Malvern, Ledbury and Cheltenham, and the Cathedral Cities of Hereford, Worcester and Gloucester for sight seeing and shopping facilities.
