Barnhayes Farmhouse is situated in a quiet hamlet nestling in the Dorset countryside with spectacular views across the valley. It is ideal for family and friends to get together and enjoy its welcoming atmosphere with an Aga in the kitchen and wood burner in the lounge. The perfect get away as the property can be rented for short breaks, Friday - Monday or Monday - Friday as well as weekly bookings. There is something for everyone from swimming in the heated indoor pool, table tennis in the games room, riding, walking or just relaxing in front of the fire. Stabling is available for those wishing to discover the area on horseback or ride with The Cattistock Hunt. The villages of Cattistock and Evershot are nearby offering good pub food, Spa treatments at Summer Lodge in Evershot. Local produce available. The town of Yeovil is 9 miles away with a cinema and bowling complex as well as High Street shopping. The market town of Dorchester is within easy driving distance. The beach resort of Weymouth is approximately 40 minutes drive, with the lovely beaches of Chalmington and Burton Bradstock being within easy reach and good for fossil hunting. We take weekly bookings (low season from £1600 to high season £2200) as well as short breaks, Friday - Monday, Monday to Friday (low season £950 to high season £1400).

About Mrs Kim Houghton

My husband Tim and I feel very lucky to have been able to bring up our 6 children in two of the most beautiful areas in England. We would like to invite you to enjoy our homestead in Hampshire, in a lovely 2-bed annexe, set amongst acres of farmland and woodland. Or to enjoy family/friends gatherings in our 6-bedroomed farmhouse in Dorset with indoor heated swimming pool, log burner in the lounge and use of the tennis court. We feel very privileged to be surrounded by such stunning countryside and never tire of exploring the footpaths and bridleways on our doorstep. We hope that you will enjoy it too, whether on foot, on horseback or by bicycle.

We purchased Barnhayes Farmhouse for its idyllic rural location in a unspoilt area of Dorset. The property enjoys uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside due to its elevated position. The indoor heated swimming pool and games room with table tennis have proved to be a great success and keeps the whole family entertained. Whilst relaxing in front of the large log burner in the lounge is the perfect way to end the day. The patio with seating beneath a stunning planted pergola is ideal for a bbq with the front patio being the place to sit to watch the sun go down.

Fantastic House in a wonderful, quiet location

Beautiful and very spacious house, enjoyed by all of us, on the occasion of celebrating two family birthdays, for a long weekend. We all had a wonderful time, especially enjoying the swimming pool, tennis and table tennis. We will definitely go back again, we all loved it. Thoroughly recommended.

Great value, large and homely property

Our large family party had a wonderful Easter break at Barnhayes. The farm house is well appointed with a large country kitchen and adjoining dining room, large lounge with open fire and spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. The swimming pool was a fantastic bonus and much loved by the children.

The outdoor space was truly beautiful and alive with spring flowers and blossom.

If staying you must be prepared to drive a little way (30 mins to an hour) for trips and days out but we did not find this a problem.

We took our two small dogs with us and they greatly enjoyed snoozing by the Aga, there is a designated gated area in the garden for dogs but unfortunately our dogs were small enough to get through the gaps in the closed gate.

All in all this was the perfect location for our diverse group.

Great value property with indoor pool

Really lovely property, the swimming pool is great as are the tennis courts (though you do have to check as they are shared use during the week). The place is truly amazing value in terms of price.

The living room, kitchen and dinning room comfortably seated all 12 guests (a little chair shuffling was sometimes necessary) and the beds were very comfortable. The nearby village is lovely and the setting in general was great. We would happily stay there again! Also not made a big mention of in the listing but the table tennis provided hours of entertainment.

Spacious, well equipped home with fab swimming poo

A group of 10 friends and toddlers enjoyed a long weekend despite some miserable weather. We made full use of the swimming pool which was the perfect size for splashing around with two little ones. The pre-laid fire was immediately put into operation and made the spacious living room, (with enough seating for everyone to relax) very cosy - we took full advantage on the Saturday and Sunday nights too.

The kitchen is really well equipped and layout works really well for sociable meal times and preparation.

Kim was very quick in responding to queries and gave thorough details about what to expect. It's a great location, we enjoyed a pub lunch in Cattistock and not far from lots of great attractions including Chisel beach.

Approximately 1 mile off the A37 between Dorchester and Yeovil.

Distances:

The village of Cattistock is approximately 2 miles, Evershot 3 miles with Dorchester and Yeovil being 10 miles. Waldon Hill clay pigeon and go-karting is just on the A37 approximately 2 miles away.
