About this property

Tuscany-Styled Villa with Superb View of Adriatic and Private Swimming Pool

This superb Tuscany-styled villa can most comfortably host a party of six in the magnificent settings of the town of Škrip - the oldest settlement in Brac. Villa Kolacje is new but designed traditionally, with more than 200 sq.m. of carefully tailored space indoors. The exterior offers the best view of the Northern side of Brac to the coastline that engulfs the area from beyond the scenic Trogir to the Makarska Riviera. The view to be enjoyed from the private outdoors swimming pool is entirely unique to this villa and cannot be matched by any other accommodation in Brac. The villa has two bedrooms downstairs (queen sized bed and two single beds) and a large gallery area upstairs (queen sized bed). In the living room area, there's a large sofa (that stretches into bed if needed). The kitchen is fully equipped incl. dishwasher and one of the three bathrooms has a washing machine. A spacious L-shaped terrace follows the view to the Adriatic and offers beautifully arranged gardens with Mediterranean plants, flowers and trees. The sizeable swimming pool stretches to the old stone walls, all laid manually in the traditional Brac style. The villa has its own parking. The area is isolated and very quiet making it suitable for retreats and holidays all year round. Local supermarket is only 3-minute walk from the villa, while Škrip offers a great restaurant and some cafés/tavernas. Škrip also hosts the museum of the island and is located on the popular cycling paths, only 4 kilometres from the port of Supetar. Beaches and larger towns are only 4-5 minute drive away, as are larger supermarkets. Beautiful, picturesque Splitska with beautiful beaches is a short ride or a 20 min walk away.

Wonderful Base for Exploring Brac
We stayed at Villa Kolacje for 9 nights at the beginning of September. The weather was beautiful. It's a very easy journey from the airport to Split (1hr and 4 euros on the bus) and on to the ferry for Brac (50mins and about 4 euros). We spent the first couple of days walking to nearby Splitzka and Postira and the ancient town of Dol, where we had a fabulous dinner at the Kastil Gospodnetic with a wonderful view to the mainland. Mini house tour and history lesson included! We went twice to Konoba Kopacina in Humac, once for lunch and then again for dinner on our last night. Taxis are expensive though so we rented a car on recommendation from Boris for the remainder so that we could explore the island ( about £40 a day for a small 4 door). And explore we did! There a couple of 'must see' sights, namely Vidora Gova - the highest point of the Adriatic Islands and an amazing sight towards Hvar, Vis, Korcula and even Italy on a clear day. Also Bol and its famous Zlatni Rat beach, although it's very commercial. Lovrecina is the only sandy beach, but there are much nicer pebbly beaches along the coast, although require beach shoes unless you have feet of steel! We went twice to Pucisca and had the most delicious ice cream. Skrip itself is the oldest settlement on Brac and in our opinion, the nicest. There is a restaurant, bar and small supermarket within minutes of the villa. There are also a couple of museums - The Brac museum and an Olive Oil museum, both of which are worth a visit. There are also a couple of 'ateliers' selling locally made goods. Supetar is the nearest large town where the ferry comes in (10 mins by car). There are lots of things to do and much more nightlife. There are also a couple of large supermarkets there, one of which, Boris' father took us to when he very kindly picked us up from the ferry and took us to the villa. The villa itself is delightful and had everything we needed. We had a barbeque one day which was really easy to use . The indoor cooking facilities are basic but adequate, but the villa is well equipped otherwise. If you spend much time there though, take CDs, DVDs, games etc as there are none there. If you enjoy cycling, Brac is the place. There are 5 circular cycling trails, from the challenging to the impossible! We watched people struggling uphill many a day! There are electric bikes to rent though. All in all we had a fabulous time, Boris and his family are very kind and we would recommend Villa Kolacje.

Comfortable villa, lovely terrace
We spent an extremely enjoyable week at Villa Kolacje. The villa is very comfortable and nicely furnished. The terrace has comfortable seating and is a lovely shaded place to sit out of the heat of the day to enjoy the views and the myriad of potted plants in the garden. Boris was very welcoming and extremely helpful with advice prior to our arrival. Although the lovely view from the villa is partially obscured by a neighbouring property, there are still beautiful views across the island down to the sea. The downstairs bedrooms are much nicer than the pictures indicate. For my family, the single air conditioning unit in the living area was not quite enough for comfort at night time, even with fans in the bedrooms and windows open. One of the two downstairs bedrooms is not accessed directly from the living area but either through the other bedroom or via the terrace, so cool air from the living room could not reach that bedroom. We struggled to keep water within the shower area of the upstairs bathroom where the bathroom floor tended to get very slippery, but the downstairs showers were fine. The kitchen area is compact with a small tabletop oven, but also a microwave oven and is well equipped with everything that you could need for holiday cooking, with plenty of fridge space! We bought beach towels to use at the pool as we didn't find any sizeable ones in the villa. The villa is decorated with many interesting ornaments, with an open stairway to the upper floor, and the pool is very deep with no shallow end - wonderful for us but young children would need to be closely supervised! The location on the edge of the village is quiet and free of traffic, with the only noises being the neighbours enjoying their garden and pool. It is only a short trip by car to several pretty coastal villages so we used a local taxi service recommended in the villa's guest book to try out some of the local restaurants in the evenings, and had many good and memorable meals. We could happily have spent much longer than the week we had there enjoying the villa and exploring the island.

Lovely villa, stunning views!
Villa Kolacje is truly lovely. The pictures can't do it justice. The location is very quiet and relaxing and the views, especially from the upstairs balcony, are amazing. The pool area is very nice with a fair size pool and plenty of space for everyone to chill out, getting out of the sun under umbrellas or shady areas if need be. Inside, the villa is well equipped with plenty of towels, linen and utensils. There's only a very small cooker/hob in the kitchen but the BBQ is very easy to use and much nicer than cooking indoors. The villa is a few minutes drive from Splitska, Postira and Supetar - all great places to eat and drink. There are plenty of beaches to choose from but a car is essential to get to them. Boris kindly helped us hire a car on the Island. Boris and his family could not have been more helpful or welcoming - thanks for a great stay!

Gorgeous location, fantastic home, welcoming host
We had a really lovely and relaxing holiday staying at this pretty and well equipped villa in Skrip. The village is fairly central and quiet, away from the crowds but close to nearby towns for shopping and eating. The villa had everything we needed and more. The pics we felt in fact didn't do justice to how lovely it is in reality. The garden is beautiful, little pool was perfect for the kids and the views are spectacular. Upper balcony was gorgeous for sunset drinks or watching the lights on the mainland twinkle at night. Boris was really lovely and welcomed us warmly, and made us feel very at home. He helped us out very quickly when we contacted him. We loved our time here and would definitely recommend it to anyone. We didn't want to come home. We enjoyed several meals at nearby Postira, Splitska is very pretty and the kids enjoyed the sandy beach at Lovrecina. We drove along the coast as far as Milna and across the island to Bol and Zlatni Ray beach. All the days out were fun. The local Brac museum is worth a visit, and if you fancy a short walk you can see Hercules in the Roman quarry. Big thumbs up from young and old alike.

Fantastic Villa with great atmosphere
Great villa. All you need available. Great host. The villa is located a bit up the hill so a car would be highly recommended if you stay in this place (at least for a few days). Boris is a great host and swimmingpool and garden are well maintained. Highly recommended!!

About the host

Host profile image
The owner was born in Croatia and has spent most summers indeed at the island of Brac. Finally in 2008 he bought three newly built apartments so that he can keep coming back to the place he loves most. He currently heads a research institution in Norway and travels a lot for business - Europe, Asia and Africa are the parts of the world he has professionally covered. He's also socially engaged in citizen's advocacy and has many hobbies that include diving, swimming, biking and marathon running (as well as a NAUI scuba divemaster). Brac is an ideal location for all these activities. He studied in the UK, USA and Austria. The owner has two more properties advertised at this site since 2011 that have had dozens of very pleased customers. The villa is the latest acquisition that caters to different clients as it's one of the top properties available to rent in the area.

Why they chose this property

Postira has everything we could want from a holiday. Beautiful beaches, fabulous swimming, great walks, and lovely food. The people are friendly, the town itself is quieter, but with a nice atmosphere. And the sun always seems to shine!

Placed in the authentic and unspoiled Mediterranean environment, amidst one of the richest archipelago in the world, the pristine and clam sea, Škrip was first mentioned in the 9th century AD. It is a little Mediterranean town located on the northern side of the island Brač, 4 kilometres from the island's port of Supetar. Overlooking the clear blue of the Adriatic, Škrip climbs up the hill to embrace the centuries old olive fields and confluence of pine forests and vines as it descends back into the fertile valley of vineyards and tangerines.

What makes this property unique

There are so many things we love about our villa it's difficult to know where to start. The views are stunning, the outdoors spectacular, the pool is a superb facility, the kitchen is better equipped and more spacious than most homes. The showers are lovely and powerful, the beds comfortable. The location is perfect for the views or sports, but also secluded and quiet. You can get fresh bread from the nearby supermarket in the morning. And it's just hard to beat sipping a cool drink on the terrace on a summer's evening watching the sunset!
