Medieval Townhouse In Heart Of Village With Private Pool, Terrace And Peaceful C

Overview

Property

Updated: 07-Nov-2016

You enter the townhouse by entering through a heavy wooden door on Place de la Halle in the heart of the popular medieval village of Saint Antonin Noble Val, the setting for the recent Helen Mirren film 'The 100 foot journey'. The door leads to a courtyard, with two terraces, one with a lovely private pool and the other with furniture for outdoor dining and general laziness! The house itself it packed with period features, beams, 4 metre high ceilings and some lovely stonework. But is also has all the things modern life requires, high speed internet, UK TV by satellite and a well equipped kitchen.

We rent this house from Saturday to Saturday during high season. Please contact us if you would like a different start day. Out of peak season we offer monthly prices; April £880, May £1320, September £1430, October £880.

A comfortable house in the heart of St Antonin Noble Val.

  • 5 of 5

We have enjoyed a very enjoyable week in this medieval town house in the centre of St Antonin Noble Val, the property was a good size for our family of four adults, with plenty of space both indoors and out. We had a very hot week but the position of the outside courtyard allowed us to always find a shady, or sunny, spot to relax or eat in. The pool was a great extra to cool down in after a hot day exploring the area. Indoors everything was very comfortable with spacious bedrooms and a large open plan living room / dining room / kitchen. Both French and British TV are available and Claire has provided a good selection of DVDs to watch and books to read. When we arrived Claire kindly provided some food essentials to get us started.

The position of the house is excellent, right on the main square with its restaurants, shops and cafes. On Sunday there is busy market just outside the front door that fills the centre of the town. Despite the noise and bustle of the market though, when you close the front door the house and courtyard are quiet and peaceful, the best of both worlds!

St Antonin itself is a delightful town with narrow medieval streets to explore, in a dramatic setting surrounded by the hills and river, don't forget your camera. There are several restaurants giving a lot of choice, we had an excellent meal on the shady terrace of the L'auberge des Sens, one of two or three popular places near the bridge. The region around offers many villages, towns and cities to visit, we especially recommend spending some time in Toulouse, Albi, Cordes sur Ciel, and Bruniquel. But there were also plenty of places left for a second visit at sometime in the future. We enjoyed our time in this property and would certainly recommend it.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely review, I am glad you all had a good time. I agree that Saint Antonin is a great option for multi-generational holidays as there are so many things to do in and around the village, everyone can enjoy themselves together as well as independently, as so much is accessible on foot

Great house in a lovely village

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time here, the house is in the centre of the village and was well equipped. It suited us very well as the kids could pop out on their own for an ice cream and we could have a drink in the village square. The canoeing was good fun.

A strong recommendation

  • 5 of 5

This property is perfectly positioned and managed. The house is spacious, with character and a restful atmosphere, and the courtyard enclosing the pool behind it is ideal in terms of atmosphere and privacy. The owners were exceptionally helpful offering guidance to the surrounding area, which was a revelation in terms of the vast areas of varied landscape – pasture, heath, woodland, cliffs, waterways – where one could walk for miles on well signed routes without encountering anyone and with innumerable beautiful vistas across valleys. The market beneath the window on the Sunday was also a pleasure, with a great variety of produce.

Location

From the Owner

We originally came to France for a grown up gap year and loved it so much we decided to stay. Once we decided we were making a permanent move from Australia, we got out a map and identified places that ticked all of boxes; good weather, beautiful architecture, lots of outdoor activities such as walks and canoeing, good local produce, proximity to airports with good UK flight connections, close to many of the 'most beautiful villages in France'. Saint Antonin Noble Val ticked all our boxes and we are so glad we made the move.

Facilities

From the Owner

We normally over think every big decision in our life but as soon as we walked into the courtyard we decided to make an offer on this house and had moved in within 6 weeks! We love the central village location, so easy to pop out and meet friends for a drink, but equally we can be walking the dog along the Averyon river in 5 minutes and hardly use the car. However, we are now moving to our barn conversion so it is ready for someone else to enjoy.
