Within the traditional exterior appearance of Admirals Lodge is a two bedroom townhouse which has recently been completely redecorated, refurnished and re-equipped. Located in a quiet street with its own large garage/parking for one car but only a few minutes level walk to the town centre and riverbank, the interior is stylish, well coordinated and perfect for romantic getaways or small families at any time of the year. Set over three floors with the garage on the ground floor, open plan lounge and kitchen on the first floor and with two double bedrooms and bathroom on the second floor, the light airy modern accommodation is furnished and equipped to a very high standard throughout. There are child safety gates at the top of each staircase and a high chair and cot are also available.
5 of 5 stars. Reviewed for a stay in February 2015
Just back from a few days in Dartmouth. I believe we were some of the first people to rent this house. It was certainly all very new and pristine. Clean comfortable and very well equipped with lots of attention to detail. The bed was even more comfortable than ours at home. Being able to park the car right there was great in view of the parking problems in Dartmouth which seemed pretty bad even though it was off season. The house is in a nice quiet street but quite central in the level part of the town, so a short easy walk to all the shops restaurants and the river. We didn't do much cooking but the kitchen was very well equipped and with very expensive looking granite tops. There is a Spar shop just around the corner and the M&S food store is also very close by. The one downside for some people might be that it is a town house set over 3 floors so you do get some exercise going up and down the stairs! But we liked it a lot and we plan to book a longer stay in the summer.

We have been coming to Dartmouth for quite a few years and wished we had found this property sooner. Great location in a quiet back street but only a few minutes easy level walk to the shops, river etc. Nicely furnished, clean and well equipped and our 2 kids enjoyed the smart TV and fast Wifi. The garage was a big bonus given the parking problems in Dartmouth and no problem fitting in our quite large car. Everything about Admirals Lodge met or exceeded our expectations and we shall certainly return.
Excellent location - clean and cared for property - recently refurbished. Parking a real boon!
We arrived early (sorry must read instructions more carefully) but all was well.
Found that we had to leave garage door open as our car to long but this was not a problem, property very clean and tidy, bed really comfortable. The only thing I would have liked was the option of a DVD player as the TV channels were limited.
This is a great location for exploring the town of Dartmouth and surrounding area, river trip a must.
Great town for families.
The apartment as good as we hoped -and had everything we needed.
good location just a couple of minutes walk to town centre pubs restaurants and shops, very clean and cosy ,highly recomended . thanks keith and erika
This house is very well maintained, lovely and clean with excellent fixtures and fittings. The lounge was very light and airy, nice furniture, good quality t.v. nice to relax in after a busy day of sightseeing. The bed was very comfy. The garage is an absolute bonus. House situated just a few minutes flat walk from the river.
Dartmouth is a really beautiful place to visit and so handy for many visits. I would recommend this house.

A privately managed family beach with turquoise blue sea and home to the award winning Venus Café. 2 miles on is Slapton Sands with its 3 mile long beach and Slapton Ley, a 1.5 mile lake and national nature reserve. The North end of the beach is called Pilchard's Cove and is popular with naturists. 30 mins drive is East Portlemouth's sheltered and fine sandy beach.

Nearest Airport is Exeter or Bristol. Best train station to use is Totnes (20 mins drive away).
Distances:
Within a 3 min walk you can catch a ferry from the Embankment over to Kingswear (5 min ferry ride) & the famous Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway. There are also ferris to Dartmouth Castle, the pretty village of Dittisham, 'Greenways' the home of Agatha Christie and a variety of other trips up the Dart Estuary. There are many beautiful villages within a 20 mile radius and numerous stunning walks in the area.
Further Details:
Dartmouth is in an area of outstanding natural beauty in South Devon situated at the mouth of the River Dart which is one of the most spectacular estuaries in Europe. It has a mild climate & is beautiful throughout the year. The town itself is a delight with lots going on, fascinating old buildings, some of the best restaurants in the West and a greater choice of shops than many much bigger towns. There is also a good selection of pubs selling real ale and good food. There are four major supermarkets two of which are right in the centre of the town as well as a wet fish shop ; butchers, several delicatessens and a couple of bakers (including a super French Boulangerie). Added to that you have some great individual retail shops catering for every possible taste. Most shops, restaurants and cafe are open all year round.
The river and coastline on the doorstep are spectacular. As well as the normal seaside activities including walking and fishing you can use the ferries, buses and the steam train to get around the immediate area. There are two National Trust properties at Coleton Fishacre and Greenway (Agatha Christie’s home) close by. The lovely town of Totnes is only half an hour by car or 45 minutes by ferry area through the beautiful Dart Valley. Just north of Totnes is the Dartington Cider Press Centre, a complex of shops with a wide range including toys, gifts, clothes, jewellery, glassware and kitchen equipment. A little further on is the Riverford Organic Farm and shop with the highly regarded Field Kitchen which is great for both lunch and dinner though you will need to book.
Dartmouth holds a Music Festival in May and a Food Festival in October each year. It also has a famous Regatta held in August with attractions including a funfair in the town; amazing air displays which regularly include the Red Arrows and world class sailing races. The regatta ends with a spectacular firework display over the river.
