About the property

Smallicombe Farm is in an idyllic rural setting yet close to the Jurassic Coast between Lyme Regis and Sidmouth, an ideal destination for all ages.

Smallicombe is a small working farm specialising in rare and traditional breeds of farm livestock. Guests are free to visit the animals and help with feeding or collecting eggs. There is a farm trail that takes guests on several routes round the farm to include our ancient woodland, pastures, river and wildlife pond.

The cottages are in converted barns on the holding which was documented in the Domesday book in 1086. The buildings have been updated since but still retain quirky traditional features. They are all different sleeping from 2 to 6 guests in 1, 2 or 3 bedroom cottages. All are fully equipped to a high standard, 4 star Gold Award, but take advantage of the picturesque setting having superb views across our valley. The view has changed little over the centuries is close enough to Honiton, 4 miles and the coast 6 miles to be convenient.

The farm has Berkshire, British Lop and Saddleback pigs, Devon beef cattle and a flock of Dorset Down sheep. We lamb early in the year as being near the coast the winters are generally mild with early grass early for the new lambs. We offer lambing weekends in January/February and March when you will be able to see the new born lambs and give a hand if you want.

The pigs farrow throughout the year as a result there are nearly always young piglets to see with their mums. The cattle live outdoors all year grazing the pastures and calve in the spring or early summer giving the calves time to grow before the winter.
