About the Owner

My parents have owned this house for over 20 years and we have had many happy family holidays in the area. We have fallen in love with the house and the area and wish to share its charm with other people. Everyone that has ever visited has been pleasantly surprised with the house and the surroundings.

We live in the UK, but use a lovely English couple who reside close to the house to run things for us. they are very experienced. We use local French artisans to undertake more significant house maintenance

Guestbook comments from the owner

Christine Smith - We have stayed at this lovely peaceful house on four occasions at different times of the year and always feel the stress of everyday life roll away as soon as we arrive. The location of the property is perfect with countryside strolls or bike rides through fields or forest on your doorstep. The lovely unspoilt coast is a short drive away and is a must to enjoy the wonderful fish restaurants and walks on the beautiful beaches. There is a good range of local shops in Crecy a short drive or bike ride away.

The house is well equipped with an excellent range of outdoor furniture for Al fresco dining in the secluded garden, equally there is a lovely dining area in the open plan living room when the weather is less kind. The kitchen has all you need to prepare and serve meals with the minimum of fuss. One of the joys of the house is the French doors opening from all the principal rooms onto the terraces which run on both sides of the property, you can always find a sheltered sunny spot to relax in. On chilly evenings the open, fire is a joy which airs the whole house and is a wonderful focal point .There are books to enjoy and games to play in this family home, not the height of luxury with all mod cons but a get away from it all and enjoy time together place . A place we will return to time and time again.

Chris Gandy - If you want a completely

uncommercialised location in serene French countryside this is the

place. Lovely walking and cycling along the valley or in the forest

which is literally a few yards down or up the lane.

Things I would

- taking the coast road instead of the motorway from Calais

and visiting the Capes (Griz Nez and Blanc Nez), and then the Luteyns

war cemetry at Etaples.

- walking along the beach to Le Crotoy and

watching the tide disappear and the seabirds take over.

- eating moules

at the very end of the road at St Valerie when the sun is setting over

the Somme estuary (there are even armchairs in the sand!)

The house is

in a very peaceful location with dark skies and no intrusions. (My

daughter and son-in-law spent their honeymoon there a few years ago and

were able to completely relax after the excitement of the wedding.)

Jo Bingham

We have often stayed in Caumartin and enjoyed the spacious house and gardens.

We found it a perfect base for walking in the nearby forest, cycling to Crecy for our baguettes, and visiting the pretty seaside towns that surround the Somme Estuary.

The battlefields and war cemeteries are very close and visiting them was an experience we wouldn't have missed.

The beach at Le Hordelle is a bird spotters paradise at low tide and seals can be seen at high tide.

A truly great location for a holiday.
