Cozy Holetown Apartment, Barbados, Caribbean - 3 Minutes Walk To The Beach

This private 1-bedroom apartment is part of a terrace of four and features an open plan living room, fully equipped kitchen and a garden. Located on the West Coast of Barbados it is within walking distance of several amenities. Entry is via security gates to a covered veranda. Foldaway doors reveal the open plan living room, with fully equipped kitchen.

You are allowed free use of a private shared swimming pool at the beach club by the sea. This is a fantastic facility where you can swim in the sea or pool and then sunbathe to the sound of the sea. The restaurant located at the beach club - The Beach House - serves coffee, lunch and dinner from 11 am. I highly recommend staying for the sunset as this is spectacular. You can stay all day as there are toilet facilities as well. Just to the left of the beach club offers great swimming with no corals and just sand under your feet.

This apartment is within walking distance of everything you need. The bus stop is 3-minutes walk away which takes you into Bridgetown (South) or Speightstown (North). It is a fantastic experience to use the local buses. Barbadians are very friendly and colourful. Their smiles will keep you coming back! It is a home away from home in paradise.

Coast/Beach

The beautiful Sandy Lane beach is only 5 minute walk away. You can walk for hours on the beach (depending on the tide). There is also a nice beach just to the left of the beach club where you can walk or swim. To get there is about 3-minutes walk from the apartment. It is very relaxing to walk on the beach to Paynes Bay and back which takes about 2 hours or just sit and watch the sea and listen to the waves. You can also walk or jog at the nine hole golf club (close by) which takes about 2 hours as well depending how fast you walk.

Golf

A 5-minutes drive takes you to the world famous Sandy Lane golf course and other golf courses are within easy reach. You are within walking distance of the 9-hole Sandy Lane course where you can see the green monkeys.

Special Interest Holidays

Take your pick of swimming, sailing, snorkeling, golfing, a day at the races, watching polo, horse riding on the beach, tennis, walking, diving or just relax in the tropical sun on the nearby beaches. Tax-free shopping is available in Holetown and there are several golf and polo clubs open to the public on the island.

The airport is about 25 mins away depending on the traffic. It is not necessary to rent a car as everything is on your doorstep. However it is always interesting to explore the island with a car to allow you a glimpse of the East and North Coasts which boast spectacular scenery of the Atlantic. I recommend seeing the Atlantic side as this is totally different from the calm West Coast and simply gorgeous. This is a surfers paradise.

Holetown is about a 10 minutes walk away. The new Limegrove Shopping Centre with restaurants etc is also within walking distance and has Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton, Cartier, an art gallery, cinema and so much more. You are surrounded by excellent amenities. Speightstown is a bus, taxi or drive away and Bridgetown the same. Just be aware of the traffic in the mornings and afternoons as people are going into work in Bridgetown or leaving after they have finished their jobs.

You are within short walking distance of wonderful shops, a supermarket, banks, post office, taxis, pharmacy, 24-hour medical centre, police station, coffee shops with free Internet, beach bars, hair salons and fabulous restaurants. You can choose from exclusive dining to simple beach bars.

A radio and mobile top up telephone is made available to you as well as a DVD, CD and MP3 player. Outside: The apartment features a garden with 2 lounge chairs, a table with umbrella and seating. You are allowed free use of a private shared swimming pool at the beach club by the sea. This is a fantastic facility where you can swim in the sea or pool and then sunbathe to the sound of the sea. The restaurant located at the beach club - The Beach House - serves coffee, lunch and dinner from 11 am. I highly recommend staying for the sunset as this is spectacular. I think I might have forgotten to add that looking at the new photos this property has certainly been updated - its been given a facelift which is what it needed. Can't wait to get there!

Updated accommodation

First of all I have to say that I felt very sorry for Marita the owner after reading that last review. Any complaints which were outside her control should have been taken up with the previous owner George Olsen.

We booked this accommodation in June 2014 with George, duly paid the deposit and the remainder of the money on 17th Dec. We then had an email from him on 28th Dec saying he had sold it. I was really mad as this was the first we knew about it. We then had an email from Marita introducing herself so after a few emails between us my fear of it being a scam were allayed.

The property was what I would describe as tired when we arrived but Marita had had no or very little time to do anything but the basics in order to honour her committment but she did tell us to contact her if anything wasn't right. Marita kept in contact to ensure we were happy with eveything and we had no complaints. There was even a mobile phone we could use. There is free wifi here as well. She asked us for feedback so that she could update the information held in the accommodation which we did.

The property itself is in the perfect location, just minutes ftom the pool at the Beach house which guests have unlimted access to it.Its not far from all the restaurants in Holetown and if you want to eat in which we did several times the supermarket is a short walk away. The bus stop is a couple of minutes away if you want to go to other beaches (Paynes Bay is our favourite) or Bridgetown/Speighstown.

The kitchen is small but hey we are on holiday. The bed is very comfortable with a mosquito net over and there is an ensuite bathroom. There were oodles of fresh linen and towels and we knew from the info that there was no cleaning but it is a very easy place to keep clean and I am quite capable of changing sheets and towels!!! The lounge is very comfortable - there is a TV/DVD player but we never turned it on.

There is an outside covered area for relaxing and eating and also sunloungers in the garden outside.

I can see from these photos that Marita has updated the accommodation and we are really looking forward to going back there in January.

I have only given 4 stars as I haven't actually seen the property yet but I will update my review after our stay in Jan 2016.

BEWARE ! BEWARE !

The photos paint a false illusion of this property, it is a dump. A dirty dump, the first thing you will need is a bottle of bleach ! There are other properties at the same price which are far superior, the one next door for example. Next door is bright, modern and cleaned and linen changed every 5 days included in the price, this property was not cleaned at all during our 2 weeks and we had to phone up and ASK for clean bed linen.

Owner's Response: There are always two sides to every story and I like to be fair and accurate when relaying events. EARLY COMPLAINTS: There were small bits of food on some of the cutlery. I agreed this was inadequate, apologised profusely and went out and purchased a new set of cutlery for the guests. The guests said the inside of the garbage can was not clean. The can was cleaned prior to their arrival but the guests were using it for their garbage. It is entirely possible the state to which they referred was generated as a result of their garbage. LINEN: The guests were provided 2 additional sets of sheets, 6 large towels and 4 small towels for their 14-night stay. Within a few days they were already asking for more sheets and towels stating they were not provided enough. They were also upset that no one had come around to clean the apartment. I clearly state in this property write-up, “A maid service can be provided for a small charge if requested.” I offered this maid service to the guests which they declined. Despite the fact I could not comprehend how they could have gone through several sheets and towels so quickly, I provided additional sheets and towels. DAMAGE TO PROPERTY: My kettle was working prior to the arrival of these guests; I know because I checked it. However the guests complained the kettle was not working. I did not make a fuss; I simply went out and purchased a new one for them. Within the hour they called to complain that this kettle was defective because it was missing the plate at the bottom which plugs into the electrical socket. Nothing was wrong with the kettle; the plate was located inside the pitcher. The guest had not bothered to look. NEIGHBOURING PROPERTY RATES: I recently acquired this property. The guests booked via the previous owners, hence I was duty-bound to honour his previous rentals. These guests paid about 25% less than neighbouring properties. Yes, neighbouring properties are more modern and more well-appointed hence my intention to upgrade. However given the booking commitments as made under the previous owner there was no time, hence the lower rate. SERVICE: If my guests are unhappy with any aspect of my property I go out of my way to correct as my focus is on ensuring anyone who stays with me has a great time in this island I love. Sometimes you don’t always get it right but I am big enough to own up to any errors and move swiftly to correct them.
