Gorgeous Provencal Farmhouse. Sleeps 18. Swimming pool and floodlit tennis cour

Updated: 06-Oct-2016
8/9 bedrooms, 7 bathrms in old stone farmhouse and barn conversn. 3 large receps

A wonderful old stone Provencal farmhouse with fabulous swimming pool (6m x 12m) and private floodlit tennis court and boule terrain with views over the Vaucluse plateau. This substantial house and converted barn sleeps 18 in comfort with three big reception rooms and a large beautifully equipped kitchen. The house and barn are wrapped around a charming floodlit gated courtyard with an old olive tree at its centre and is the perfect setting for long provencal meals in sun or under shade. The garden extends to 10 acres part cultivated and part left wild for spring flowers and almond and fig trees. The house, just 3 km from Isle sur la Sorgue, is set amongst vineyards, cherry and apple orchards. Its incredibly peaceful and yet within very easy reach (10 min) of golf, canoeing, horse riding mountain biking and the surrounding Luberon villages. The perfect house for families of all ages and also for 2 or 3 families to share. It is also a good base for cycling (Mont Ventoux is just 30 minutes away) or golfing holidays and as there is a very large reception room in the Bergerie, it is suitable for Pilates/yoga or painting holidays. There's masses to do all year round or just relax, sit back and enjoy Provence.

Provence is ideal for holidays all year round and is notorious for sunshine even when the weather gets cooler. Apart form the golf nearby, the house has its own floodlit tennis court and is equipped with table tennis, satellite televsion, a boule terrain, bicycles, an easle and even bridge tables are available on request to ensure that there is plenty to do whatever the month.

Catering is available if you require.

Wonderful! Beautiful inside and out. Fab pool etc

  • 5 of 5

Mas St Damien is a wonderful place to stay. Beautifully designed interiors in a Provence style with sumptious, comfortable beds and bedding and great dining areas inside and outside in the enchanting courtyard. The tennis court, swimming pool, boules court and table tennis and the grounds are all in excellent condition and beautifully maintained. The surrounding area is fascinating and delightful to explore. We hired a local cook, recommended by the owners, who brought in delicious meals. Unbeatable holiday and we will go back! A real treat!

Wonderful, comfortable home away from home

  • 5 of 5

The property itself is beautiful and perfect for large groups - either a big family gathering or a group of friends. What was really nice was that the furnishings, tableware, kitchen equipment were all of a high standard and abundant, making it the perfect place to relax and entertain. The location is perfect for sight seeing and cycling and if you don't want to venture too far then it was great to relax and swim and play games.

Spectacular Mas with superb accommodation

  • 5 of 5

After many years of renting large houses in the south of France for our party of 12-14 adults, this is the first to which we would gladly return. The Mas is in a secluded rural location but just five minutes drive from L'Isle sur la Sorge, a beautiful town with biweekly food market, numerous boulangeries artisanales and several good restaurants. Facilities include: well appointed bedrooms, most with en suite; a large kitchen with modern equipment including a mains-gas double-oven range cooker and every possible utensil; a large swimming pool that is kept rigorously clean; a flood-lit tennis court and all-weather ping pong. Overall, the entire property is very well maintained and managed. Fantastic!

Fabulous Farmhouse in Provence

  • 5 of 5

The House has been beautifully restored and provides a superb setting for a large group holiday .

We particularly enjoyed the gardens , the birdsong , and the wonderful views of the hills.

In addition the tennis court and pool are of a high standard and were much appreciated as were the cycles which were used to explore the Luberon .

The House is also well positioned for anyone wanting to cycle Mount Ventoux , with local cycle hire providing excellent road bikes .

In all this is a great place for a relaxing holiday and or family celebration we could not recommend it more highly. We really loved it.

a large family celebration

  • 5 of 5

My mother wanted to gather all her children and grandchildren together and this gorgeous house turned out to be perfect. the tennis court and swimming pool were in use all day, every day. The alfresco table allowed us to make the most of the sunny weather and the house was very well appointed and comfortable.

Isle-sur-la Sorgue is a beautiful town and much visited and rafting, bicycling etc in the local area was loved by all of us.

a super week, loved by everyone of us, we are all ready planning our return.

Nearest Airport : Marseille at 60 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : L'isle sur la Sorgue at 3 Kilometres Nearest Ferry : Marseille at 80 Kilometres Nearest Golf : Provence Country Club at 5 Kilometres Nearest Train : L'isle sur la Sorgue at 3 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : A7 at 25 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : L'Isle sur la Sorgue/Lagnes at 2 Kilometres Car: necessary

L'Isle sur la Sorgue known as the Venice of France with its canals, wonderful shops and famous Sunday market is just 3 km away from the house. Over 150 antique dealers have outlets in L'Isle and at the weekends and during the frequent antiques fairs, this number swells considerably. There are excellent restaurants, bars and cafes both in L'Isle and in the surrounding villages.

The house, set in 10 acres, looks over to the Vaucluse plateau in one direction and to the Luberon in the other. The picturesque Luberon villages of Menerbes, Bonnieux, Gordes, Gault, Lacoste, Oppede le Vieux and Fontaine de Vaucluse to name but a few are all within 15 to 20 min. A cycle path that runs through the Luberon to Apt has recently been created. It is possible to hire both road bikes and electric bikes at Coustellet just 10 minutes away and from there you can acces all the stunning Luberon villages and beyond by bike using as much or as little energy as you choose!

There are wonderful Provencal markets in all the local villages and of course, fantastic restaurants and cafes. A superb golf course, canoeing, cycling and horseriding are all within 10 mins of the house. Avignon is 30 min away (the airport is just 20 min). Aix en Provence is 45 min. Marseille airport (BA and EJ) 50 min drive. The coastal resort of Cassis is 75 min. This is the ideal place for a family holiday if you want a real balance between activity and total peace and relaxation in the countryside.

It is also ideal for Golf tours, tennis/bridge/Pilates/yoga holidays or short breaks all year round as the sun shines in Provence even through the winter.

Activities at the house:

Tennis (flood lit)

Table tennis

Activites nearby:

Antiques shopping

Golf: There is a lovely golf course, The Provence Country Club just ten minutes from the House and two others within 40 minutes drive. The House is often booked for golf tours. If you would like more information on golf in the area, please contact the owners.

Cycling: Mount Ventoux is in easy reach for the serious cyclists but there is the most stunning cycling on the doorstep. We have bikes available for guest use but can also recommend hiring electric bikes or road bikes if you want to sightsee over greater distances and maybe visit one of the many hilltop Medieval villages for lunch. Mas Saint Damien has proven to be a very popular base for cycling holidays for all levels particularly with the new cycle track that runs through the Luberon and particualrly with the availability of electric bikes which means amateurs can enjoy expeditions keeping pace with hard core cyclists!
