About Paula Whybrow

John and Paula purchased this property five years ago to provide a holiday venue for themselves and friends and family. Now they wish to let the cottage (The Old Brewhouse) so that others can enjoy what has been a very successful venture.

Paula Whybrow purchased this cottage in 2010

Why Paula Whybrow chose Calbourne

We bought the property for a holiday home. We have found that its proximity to the home counties gives us easy access to an area of outstanding natural beauty complemented by a very good water sport environment.

What makes this cottage unique

Besides its beautiful rural location, the most notable feature is its grounds. Set in 1.75 acres together with the main Farmhouse there is a great sense of tranquillity and freedom.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We stayed for one week and explored the island. It's a great spot to discover inland highlights like Robin Hill Country Park & the coast at Brook and Yarmouth. The cottage is really cosy with a twin room upstairs and double downstairs. We spent our evenings using the patio and BBQ out the back and lots of the day playing on the trampoline and with the football with the kids in the huge garden.

Just be careful trying to fly a kite there - big trees.

Would happily go just with my husband too as it's lovely and cosy for romantic evenings (not that the kids enabled many of them!)

A very pretty spacious cottage in lovely peaceful surroundings. Great for our toddlers and 4 year old as was in very safe grounds. A quiet area but close by to amenities, tourist attractions and beautiful beaches made it an ideal location. A superb holiday.

Stayed at The Brewhouse with our grandchildren last summer. They had a great time and there was plenty of space for them to play inside and out. Attractively and comfortably furnished, the property is in excellent decorative order and has everything you need for a family holiday. Kitchen is well-equipped and everything works! We loved the sheltered courtyard which is

perfect for outdoor dining and storing sandy buckets and spades. Good base for exploring the delightful beaches and countryside of West Wight. Would definitely stay there again.

Excellently presented cottage in a very quiet location. Very comfortable beds, loads of seating, listen to the constant birdsong whilst having a relaxing cuppa on the patio after visiting the many attractions and changing scenery. If you're looking for a quiet getaway - here it is!!!

A superb site, quiet, and in well kept gardens and lawns .

  • 4 of 5

The interior was well appointed with all appliances etc we could want and the bed was very comfy. Living in a quiet location in North Yorkshire this was well matched and just what we wanted. One small niggle was the assurance that all was well cleaned etc. being a welcome property for dogs. As I have an asthma condition I was concerned that any trace of dogs would be hoovered up, however we did see some hair left on carpets etc, fortunately this did not cause me any reaction.I would just remind your cleaners to be vigilent.

Owner's Response: I am really sorry that you encountered some dog hairs but I trust only a few. Our regular cleaner is currently in Hospital having a major operation which willl explain as normally the cleanliness is noted as excellent.

Very nice return visit

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we've stayed at the Old Brewhouse. The cottage is well-appointed and well-away from the hustle-and-bustle. We liked our first visit so much, we came back again a few months later!

Fantastic Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Old Brewhouse over Christmas. This property is absolutely fantastic, there is a fully equipped kitchen that allowed the stay to run smoothly and made cooking Christmas dinner an easy job. The bedrooms are a delight and so comfortable. The lovely furnished lounge allowed all of us, dog as well, the comfort to chill out after lovely walks around the local area. The bathrooms and showers were excellent and included very powerful showers. The location of this property is great for exploring the Island, the grounds that the Old Brewhouse sit in are amazing and so well kept. Dealing with Paula the owner from the booking with our questions was easy, the experience of our family holiday over Christmas can only be described as brilliant. I would fully recommend this stunning property and will return without hesitation.
