Amble holiday

For the price we paid it was good value for money the house was well presented both clean and tidy. It served our purpose as a base to explore Northumberland.

A beautifully presented bolt hole from which to explore the wonderful Northumberland coastline.

We had a lovely weeks holiday in Amble. We found the facilities at Amblers rest very well thought out and beautifully presented. We were staying with our two young girls and although we had to keep the smallest away from the stairs, it worked well for a family break. The rooms were large and roomy, everything was clean and comfortable. We loved exploring the harbour at Amble itself, the many National Trust properties and gardens nearby, as well as some beautiful days on the beach at Alnmouth and on Holy Island. We also loved a boat trip out to the Farne Islands from seahouses, an absolute must if you are staying here. We missed the puffins unfortunately, but the seals put on a good show for us!

Perfect for our Stay

  • 5 of 5

This is our second year running to stay at this cottage and yet again the quality of the cottage has improved since last year, it is always very clean with many cleaning appliances and there is good quality furniture. Whilst the bed in the main bedroom is a bit on the low side, it did not effect our sleep. Its in a perfect location for the town, harbour and sea front including the local fish & chip shop which I would highly recommend. The welcome pack is a lovely thought after a long journey from London and I am sure we will be visiting again at some point in the near future.

Fantastic property and location

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a long weekend at Amblers Rest - this property is perfect, spotlessly clean, very dog friendly having hard floors downstairs and leather sofas. The property is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The welcome pack of milk, bread, biscuits and wine was extremely generous considering we were only staying 3 nights, and especially as there is a bakery and Co-op almost on the doorstep! Amble is a lovely town with lots of dog friendly cafes and pubs and there is a cafe specifically for dogs (The Dog Pod). Spurellis is definitely worth a visit and the cakes from the Driftwood Pantry are truly delicious. We visited Druridge Bay which is doggy heaven - woodland walks and extensive beaches all in one place! We would recommend this cottage to anyone, but it's particularly brilliant for dog owners as there is so much do without having to jump in the car! We have already started looking at availability for our next break! Thank you Ami for a wonderful stay.

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful time we had in Amble, a lovely place to stay. Amblers Rest itself is everything you could ask for in a holiday rental, it's a home from home too. Everything was as described and the cottage was clean and is decorated to a really high standard, you can tell love and care has been put into it. There is everything you need there, every detail had been thought about with regards to what we may need and the location was perfect for us for a restful stay. There is a convenience shop a minute away, the main street with shops and pubs a short walk away along with the beach! Amble has some lovely restaurants and pubs and nearby Warkworth, Alnmouth and of course Alnwick have a lot to offer too.

My husband and I were very comfortable throughout our stay and hubby was very happy to have the added extra of a coffee machine and video console...one happy man! The owner Ami was so lovely and efficient with our booking from start to finish and she went out of her way to help us with a few extra bits and bobs including allowing my Mum access to the property early to welcome us on our arrival. I would definitely recommend Amblers Rest to anyone thinking of staying there.

Quiet little cottage close to a beach, cafes and r

  • 4 of 5

Our first impressions was a delightfully refurbished cottage with a cute enclosed outdoor area which was ideal for our two small dogs on a morning and last thing at night. The kitchen had everything you needed although I couldn't get used to the water so bought bottled for the kettle :-). We were mins to a large green and a beach to take our dogs on. We had no problems parking outside the cottage. The bed was comfy and I liked the star lights draped over the mirror. The bathroom statement piece was the exposed brick wall. Both bedrooms were tastefully decorated and my other half appreciated the TV in the master bedroom. The living room was nicely decorated tho my dog would growl and park everything someone walked past the window so we closed the blind to try and stop her. If I had any gripes or should I say nick pick and I mean nick pick, because the place was lovely and the owner was very responsive to our enquiries and phone calls, it would be that the sofas weren't as comfy as I'd like, the fridge was a bit dirty which I think may have been due to little sticky fingers from previous guests, no foil or matches and the back door key lock was stiff to lock properly.

A small co-op store was very close by as well as a chippy. The harbour and town centre are walkable. We visited Spurelli gelato and coffee shop daily (their homemade ice-cream is gorgeous!) and we tried a new cafe in the town called Dolly & Daisys - checkout their afternoon teas! The Wellwood pub had some good offers on (early bird menu and a steak night) but unfortunately we didn't have time to try it out. We did have a meal at Zecca Zecca an Italian restaurant. They do an early bird menu but we ended up getting there too late so we chose from the normal menu and thoroughly enjoyed our pasta dishes. Amble isn't too far from Alnwick or Alnmouth which are lovely to visit. We also visited Morpeth, Bamburgh, Seahouses and Holy Island. There is still so much to see and do so we will definitely be visiting the Amblers Rest and Northumberland again! Thank you Ami for a lovely homely stay.
