Overview

Property

Updated: 04-Dec-2016
Barn in Treknow, Near Tintagel Cornwall, England - Peaceful Location, 10 Minutes Walk To The Beach

Shutta Park is a tastefully converted stone barn renovated by the owner in the late eighties to a very high standard with wood beams throughout wooden doubled glazed windows, full central heating and a woodburner. Shutta Park has been a holiday cottage for a few years and the owners have made many improvements over this time. The property is on two levels with a utility room which is accessed from the parking area. You then approach the living area via a set of stairs. There are 2 large bedrooms, one double and one twin. Available is a cot, high chair and fitted stair gate. There is a large entrance hall accessed via the patio area which leads you to the 2 bedrooms, large bathroom and toilet, kitchen, living/dining room. There is a large utility room with an extra toilet and plenty of storage for walking boots and to dry and air coats etc. There is a washing machine and freezer. The property has internet (Wi-Fi) access, TV, DVD player, radio/CD player. There is ample off road parking and secure lock up facilities for bikes or surfing equipment. Outside is a patio area with bench for enjoying an evening drink and watching the evening sunsets. At the top of the drive is the garden area with summerhouse and BBQ with bench and plenty of seating to enjoy those relaxing evenings taking in the scenery. You can see the sea from the garden. Behind the garden is open fields and pasture land. Shutta Park is within easy walking distance of the coastal path and the beach at Trebarwith Strand. The local area has many great eating places including The Port William which overlooks the beach where you can enjoy a drink watching the evening sun sets and The Mill House Inn where you can enjoy a meal in their restaurant.

About the Owner

We both feel privileged to have lived in Cornwall all our lives. Julie was born and brought up in the village of Treknow and can remember as a child when the utility room of Shutta Park was being used to milk cows in by her Aunt and prior to that her Grand Mother. Clive was brought up near the Moors and lived at Altarnun.

Shutta Park was converted into a home in the late eighties where they lived until 2008. The owners now live opposite in what was the old Church in Treknow. There was a family connection also as the Church was built by Julie's late Grand Father George Climo in 1929.

We enjoy meeting new guests and welcoming them into our home and sharing our Cornish knowledge and information.

We have had a great week at Shutta Park. Julie you have a cottage to be very proud of! It's so clean and the extra touches of yummy cakes, chocolates and fresh flowers were really appreciated. Our pasty supper was wonderful, you are a good cook and wonderful hosts. We will definitely be back and will recommend you to all. We really will miss this special place!

Cosy coastal retreat

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay at Shutta Park. The cottage was cosy, comfortable, spotless and well equipped. It's on a quiet lane in a small village so it was also very peaceful but within a short (very steep hill) walk of two nice pubs, and Tintagel is also easy walking distance. The coast path is a short walk away, and there are lots of other nice walks (coast and moors) within a short drive.

Julie was very welcoming and went out of her way to make sure we had all we needed and remained well stocked with wood for the fire box. The carrot cake she baked to welcome us was delicious :o)

In short, a really lovely stay and we'd definitely return!

Beautiful cottage, stunning place to visit, definitely recommend!

  • 5 of 5

We loved Shuttapark! The host was very welcoming and helpful, we also had a home made cake waiting for us when we got there. The cottage itself is immaculate, cosy, and very comfortable with everything there you would need. We loved exploring the local restaurants and pubs as well as the many Coves/beaches and villages. We especially loved Tintagel Castle, Bossiney Cove and Trabarwith Strand. We would recommend eating lunch/dinner at the Port William pub at Trabarwith Strand, the fish was the best we'd ever had! We also loved the carvery at Bossiney House Hotel, the walk after down to Bossiney Cove topped it off. We would definitely recommend a visit to Shuttapark and hope to visit again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your very lovely review. I am so pleased you enjoyed your first trip to Shutta Park and the area. I hope you will come back and see us again. It was lovely meeting you and being able to give you some information of where to visit and eat. You were so lucky with the weather at this time of year. Hope the trip to Padstow went well and you had room for some more fish and chips! Kind regards. Julie

Beautiful property with excellent hosts!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Shutta Park and would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to the nearby area. The owners, Julie and Clive, were so very kind and thoughtful to put up a cot for our 2 yr old son and provide us with delicious homemade cakes along with milk, tea and coffee as a warm welcome. The home was also very clean, well maintained, and the perfect size for our family. It is conveniently located with easy access to the beach and coastal path for those wishing to hike. We would love to return in the future for a longer visit!

What a find!

  • 5 of 5

A cottage that lived up to it's description and was above our expectations. After a warm welcome we were left with tea and homemade cakes to get us off to a great start. The cottage was pretty, ultra clean, cosy and comfortable, with everything provided from books, maps to baking tins and rolling pin. Beautiful location, walks with stunning cliff top views. Julie and Clive couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, so thank you once again for a wonderful break. Hope to be back soon. Jen and Dave

Home from home :)

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely visit for our first holiday with our 7 week old son. We had a very warm welcome with a roaring fire to heat us from the storms outside and yummy home baking to enjoy too.

A lovely quiet location with local towns and pubs close by.

Julie and Clive were very lovely and helpful.

A thoroughly relaxing break away, I would highly recommend!

An example

  • 5 of 5

We recently spent an all too short break at this clean, warm, comfortable and well equipped house. We were warmly welcomed by Clive and Julie who were charming and offered their help if there were any problems or anything extra needed - there were no problems and we couldn't have needed anything more that was already in the house. Being the beginning of March, the woodburner was a pleasure to have in addition to the central heating. Can't comment on the summer house, though I'm sure that will be an asset in warmer weather. Julie's home made cakes were delicious and a nice treat on arrival with a cup of tea. The house is well located within walking distance of Trebarwith, Tintagel and the Coastal Path. Clive and Julie's attention to detail and commitment to their guests should be held as an example to other owners. We will be back.

Owner's Response: It is always nice to receive positive reviews from our guests and to read that they went away from Shutta Park totally satisfied. This lovely couple were celebrating a special anniversary and we tried to make their first visit a memorable occasion. We look forward to seeing them again, perhaps for a longer break. Short breaks are lovely to experience a new area but they do seem to come to an end too quickly!

Location

From the Owner

There was a family connection with Shutta Park as the owner's Grand Parents and then Aunt farmed there until the Seventies and it remained redundant then until planning permission was obtained to convert it into living accommodation. We love the area of Treknow as you are close to the coastal path for stunning views and walks and near to the beach at Trebarwith Strand. We enjoy many days swimming and enjoying the views, walking the beach and collecting muscles from the rocks to cook up and enjoy with a glass of wine! Trebarwith beach stretches almost a mile when the tide is out so there is plenty of space for everyone.
