About Heather Turnbull

I live in Edinburgh with my husband. We have had this cottage for over 20 years. Our children loved summer holidays spent here when young and still return with friends.

My husband was brought to St Abbs for his childhood summers in the 1960s and 1970s and his mother came as a child in the 1930s.

It is a timeless place which draws you back again and again.

The cottage was beautifully decorated a home from home every thing you needed was at hand a very comfortable stay ideally situated in the village with ample parking will return !!!!

Further Details:

The Berwickshire Coast lying on the east of the Scottish Borders is a superb holiday spot for both families and lovers of the outdoors. Splendid scenery provides a backdrop for quiet relaxation while there is plenty to occupy young and old alike.

The best sandy beach in the area is a 10 minutes walk from the village (or you can drive and park there if you prefer). The hotel offers hire of surfboards and wetsuits and in the summer there is a beach cafe and a lifeguard.

Scenic walks from the village also take you to St Abbs Head with superb clifftop views and nature reserve famed for seabirds including puffins.

The fishing harbour still has working boats and hires can be arranged locally for diving and sea angling

The village has a shop and 2 cafes and nearby Coldingham has 2 pubs which can if you like be reached by a 30 minute walk along the traditional route of the Creel Path. About 4 miles distant is tthe fishing port of Eyemouth the main town of the area with many facilities. You can buy freshly landed seafood and there is a swimming pool, tennis and an 18 hole golf course with an interesting clifftop challenge.

Further afield are the historic border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, Holy Island with Lindisfarne (remember to check the tide times for the causeway), Bamburgh with its castle and the Grace Darling museum and Manderston House where the TV series Edwardian Coutry House was filmed.

The City of Edinburgh with all its attraction is one hours drive.
