This is a perfect base from which to enjoy Salcombe and the local area. It has all the comforts of home. Arranged over three floors, there are plenty of welcoming details and features to make life easy and relaxed during your stay. Decorated with a blue and white seaside theme, you will feel you have arrived at the beach as soon as you walk through the door. The house is very comfortably furnished and has lovely views from most rooms, wonderful sunrises and sunsets over Dartmoor to enjoy. With central heating you will be warm even in the worst weather. The local convenience store and post office is just around the corner, you don’t need to plan ahead, just pop out to get things as you need them. The spacious house sleeps seven adults plus a child . However the comfortable and relaxed style make it suitable for a couple as well as larger groups.

Notes on accommodation: We extend the personal touch to bookings. Please contact us with the dates that you are interested in or call direct and we can make your booking and answer any questions you may have at the same time. Outside: Free on street parking on Raleigh Road plus one space may be available in the lane at the back of the house. There is parking at North Sands Beach but parking at South Sands is limited and is best reached by walking into town and taking the Ferry from Whitestrand Quay. Utility Room: Basic provisions such as sugar, flour coffee teas biscuits and cereals, plus milk and bread in the freezer. Please use everything but replace anything you finish. We find this works well, it saves having to bring everything and avoids waste. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen and towels are not included. We can organise for linen hire and the beds to be made up if required. Please ask for details when booking. Other: There are plenty of books, several hairdryers, a highchair, travel cot and even a sewing machine.

Super holiday home

We had a terrific October half-term stay in Salcombe at Shellseekers.

The property is spacious and had everything we needed as a base for our trip. Being located up the hill meant a reasonable stroll down into Town, but the benefit of being able to actually park outside was really useful. The Spar convenience store over the road meant we didn't have to take much in the way of provisions, and simply bought as and when required.

Jennie always responded immediately to our enquiries and was very accommodating in terms of our requests - including allowing us to bring our dog, which was a big plus for us.

We will certainly look to stay again.

Great location and views from bedroom!

The house is comfortable and in a great location, with great views from the master bedroom windows! As with most properties in Salcombe there is a steep walk down into town, but it only takes 10-15 mins. Useful Spar shop round the corner too! We had a great week here, and it was great that we could bring our pup with us too! Thanks for a great week! Xx

Home from home

We have had a brilliant stay at Shellseekers this weekend.

Jennie was incredibly helpful when booking, answering all questions that we had. The house was really easy to find with plenty of on-road parking (we never failed to find a space, and we had two cars).

The house had everything we needed and more, and were impressed with how clean it was - lots of lovely nick-nacks which were obviously locally-bought, we were spotting them in all the shops which made the house more special.

The bedrooms were all spacious and the fact that they (almost) all had sinks in was really useful come bedtime. The view from the top floor window was something very special.

The walk into town took about 10-15 mins, all downhill and easy to find. The trouble was walking back up-hill afterwards! But with such amazing views it was easy to make it a slow walk taking in the view while meandering back to the house.

All in all, a brilliant stay and we would definitely return.

Fantastic location!

Love this house! Myself and my partner and occasionally our children have stayed here on more than one occasion. The house is very roomy, warm, clean and so very comfortable. Having 2 bathrooms is a big plus for us and there isn't anything you need as the house is fully equipped. We always want to stay longer than we are able to. Jennie, the owner is very helpful and has so much knowledge of the area! We are looking forward to visiting Shellseekers a few more times throughout 2017!

Very comfortable

We spent a weekend at the cottage with family and friends. We all loved the place. It is huge and can accommodate 8 people with its 3 double bedrooms and 2 single bedrooms. The location is very convenient, just about 5-10 min walk down to the harbour. There is a local grocery just around the corner. We had a very comfortable and cosy stay; the cottage was warm, the kitchen was fully equipped, the internet was working perfectly. The orangery was a pleasant place to sit in. Also, the owner was very polite to send us back a scarf that we left in the house. We would definitely love to stay again if we go to Salcombe.

An outdoor swimming pool, just five minutes away, is open to the public all summer.

Places to Visit:

Agatha Christies House Greenway is at Dartmouth about 40 minutes away.

Also managed by the National Trust, is Coleton Fish Acre with its stunning 30 acres of gardens.

Dartington Hall is home to 22 acres of grade 2* listed gardens.

The National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth is the UK's biggest Aquarium.


Shellseekers is close to some lovely beaches, walk to North Sands in 10 minutes or take the ferry to South Sands or East Portlemouth Beaches. Or within 30 minutes drive: Blackpool Sands, Slapton Sands, Bantham Beach Hope Cove, Mothercombe on the Erme Estuary and Bee Sands.

Eating Out

Salcombe is lively in the evenings with plenty of bars and restuarants to suit all ages and budgets. The Winking Prawn at North Sands is popular with families and Island Street Cafe in Salcombe has live music in the high season. Or try Captain Flint's right in the centre of town - always popular with children.

. Dick and Wills is a waterside brasserie, perfect for warm evenings.Captain Flints is popular with families.

The winking prawn at North Sands is open all day right on the beach and has a bar.b.que on fine evenings from 4.00.

There are several pubs serving food .The Ferry Inn is a good stop off point as you leave the ferry from East Portlemouth, and the Victoria Inn has a childrens play area in the garden.

On the water

The estuary is perfect for Sailing and Kayaking. See South Sands Sailing, Salcome Sailing days or the Island Cruising Club.

Boat hire and fishing trips can be organised from Whitestrand Boat hire or Phoenix Charters.

You can learn to drive a power boat with Salcombe Power Boat School or how to dive with Salcombe Scuba.

For Windsurfing and Kitesurfing try Thurlstone Beach.

Paddle Boarding is becoming very popular in several of the local beaches.

Damage Deposit £300

Booking Notes:
To secure your booking we require 25% of the fee with the balance due 8 weeks before the start of your holiday. This is non-refundable, cancellation insurance is recommended.
all payments are only refundable if we are able to your time,Therefore it is advisable to have holiday insurance.

Two weeks before arrival, we require a security deposit of £300 to cover any damage. This will be returned to you within a week of your departure when all is left in good order.

Changeover Day:
The house is let through the main holiday season from Friday to Friday. Outside the school holidays we can be more flexible with the dates.

Notes on prices:
Discounts are available outside high season when availability allows.

The house is usually available from 3:30pm on the day of your arrival.

If it is necessary to spend extra time cleaning when you leave,it will be charged at £15 per hour,
Linen and towells can be provided at a cost of £10 per person.
