About the property

Quaint Old Apartment In The Centre of the Old Town Of L'isle-Sur-La-Sorgue. Lounge/dining area. One bedroom. Modern kitchen and broom. Free wi-fi.

A perfect place to stay if you love old Provençal villages, fresh produce markets and L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue's famous antique shops. Located in the centre of the old town, but in a quiet street, close to the canals you are only a one minute walk from the town's 40+ restaurants, cafés, and shops. The apartment is on the first floor in a old quaint building. A bright living room with sofa, dining table and chairs. Free wi-fi throughout. BRITISH TV with free BRITISH satellite channels. Modern spacious and well equipped kitchen and a modern bathroom with shower and toilet. The bedroom has a large comfy bed (queen size), wardrobes and chest of drawers. We have kept the living room and bedroom in traditional provencal style. There is free wifi throughout the apartment. Lots of car parks within a 5 minute walk. Station also 5 minute walk.

Isle sur la Sorgue is famous for its graceful waterways, and antique markets, which give this chic town its character and atmosphere. The 'isle' was created when the River Sorgue was split into canals ploughed by water wheels powering its paper and silk mills in the 18th century. On a Sunday morning, the quays, main streets and narrow side streets are swamped with antique and brocante stalls. The town, despite its size (around 17 000 inhabitants) has the biggest collection of antique dealers outside Paris, and art galleries too.

About Lynda Torrie

John and I both love France. especially the Provence/ Luberon area. We spent 3 years searching for a holiday home in the south and fell in love with Isle sur la Sorgue - it really is the quintessential French town.

The countryside is beautiful, there are amazing restaurants in the middle of nowhere and it is so un-commercialised. We visit as often as we can, work permitting.

We have 2 properties for rental

The house Ref FR21092

The flat in the centre of the town Ref FR24722

Lynda Torrie purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Lynda Torrie chose L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue

We have owned a house in Isle for 5 years (FR21092) and when we were searching for a property to buy we used to rent this apartment in the centre of town and loved staying there. So when it came on the market we decided to buy it and now rent that out too.

As have been renting our house out for the past 4 years and have a lot of guests returning each year we believe we know what is necessary to give people a great holiday. We have a wonderful English lady managing the flat for us and she is always happy to help out our guests. She has lived in France for 40 plus years so speaks fluent French.

What makes this apartment unique

The flat is situated right in the centre of the town, close to all the wonderful cafes and restaurants. We have decorated it in traditional Provencal style with the exception of the modern bathroom and kitchen. It has heating for winter months.

When you walk into the main square where the old church is located it is truly like stepping back in time and walking onto a film-set for a typical Provencal French town.

We love wandering around L'isle sur la Sorgue taking long lazy lunches - it is a beautiful old town set on a series of canals. You can get lost wandering around the back streets, enjoy the many antique shops and there are many fantastic restaurants. As soon as we arrive be it winter or summer we stock up at the twice weekly market.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Left on Jun 12, 2015 for a stay in Jun 2015

We were impressed with the look and feel of the apartment, Lots of character. As a mature couple it suited us perfectly. My partner said she especially loved the style and decor etc., with the bonus of a modern kitchen and shower room. Very conveniently located but in a quiet street in the old town, a stone's throw from the centre. Light but nice and cool. We would certainly recommend it to any couple.

The perfect setting

  • 5 of 5

I loved my stay in L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue!

The apartment was unbelievably quaint, centrally located, clean as a whip, with a fully operational kitchen, and absolutely charming!

It was a stones’ throw from the finest French Cafes, the church, and all the antique shopping one could, or should hope for! The Thursday & Sunday markets are a must!

Lynda, my hostess, gave all spectacular recommendations from food to sites to parking. Upon my return visit I would not stay anywhere else!

The finest food of my life was had, (for an Italian that says a lot), at a little restaurant just around the corner from the apartment called L’Artisan du Foie Gras (24 rue Michelet)

No trip is complete without a beautifully prepared dinner from this special place!

Beautiful, comfortable and centrally located

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful property and perfect for a romantic getaway for two. The apartment was precisely as promised, clean and comfortable and perfectly located in the old village. The wi-fi was fast, the water hot and the bed wonderfully comfortable after a day of exploring. For those who are looking to save money by eating in, the kitchen is by far the most functional and well-equipped of any apartment I have rented in France. Thank you, Lynda for a wonderful stay. We hope to come back!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay. I often stay in the flat myself to make sure everything is as it should be - I think that is very important to do. As you say at the end of a hard days exploring you need a comfortable roomy bed. Do hope you will visit again. It is lovely when guests return Regards Lynda

Very Nice Apartment with Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the apartment for 6 days. Before the arriving we contacted the owner who very kindly gave us instructions about sightseeings, restaurants and the stores in the town and the surroundings.

The apartment is located perfectly for travelling in Provence and we loved it. It is also very convinient, nice furnished and have everything you might need.

The Isle Sur la Sorgue itself is a beutifull place with interesting water channels, nice church, many pretty restaurants with a delicious food.

The town is close to almost all the places who must be seen in Provence.

We would recomend this property to all our friends.

A lovely apartment in a lovely village

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is immaculate and exactly as described. It is well appointed, laid out and the location is right in the village with easy train access as we did not have car for the month we were there. There was a convenient storage room for our bicycles and the internet was excellent. The manager was a pleasure to deal with and promptly addressed the need for a failed coffee maker and blow dryer. Weekly linen change and cleaning service was excellent . There are over 20 villages and markets within a 35 km radius that we were able to explore on our bicycles. We would highly recommend this apartment to any of our friends - except for the time that we want to use it again.

A Real Provence Find

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a few days in Isle and loved it. Booking the flat, directions and the information pack was very good. I emailed the owner a few times with questions and she was really pleasant and helpful. The apartment was lovely and clean in an old building in the centre of town but down a quiet street. Very nicely furnished with everything you could ask for. Good quality linen and really comfortable bed. The owner had left a bottle of Rose for us which I though was a really nice touch. Would thoroughly recommend if you want to be somewhere cosy and traditionally decorated. We really knew we were in Provence.

Parking - The apartment is situated in the historic centre-ville of L'isle-sur-la-Sorgue, so doesn't have its own designated parking, however, there are lots of car parks all around the town. To unload your car, and park for a while, you can pull up in front of the apartment, just at the door, however the entrance to the street is tight (the turning from rue Michelet to rue Ledru-rollin) - OK for small cars only or just stop at the intersection long enough to unload. After that, there are many car parks within a few minutes walk - everything is very close. The only days which can be difficult are Thursday and Sunday mornings when the markets are on (these are finished by around 2pm when you can take cars into the centre again).
