6 bedroomed Georgian house at top of village square

When you open the front door you walk into the hallway that retains the original dado panelling, mosaic floor and open well stair case. Doors off will lead you into the sitting room with raised and fielded panels, shuttered window overlooking the square and gas coal effect fire, the dining room with electric fire and shuttered window overlooking the rear garden, Cloak room, garden and lounge with wood burner, shuttered window also overlooking the square. A door from the lounge leads into the kitchen/breakfast-room, utility room. There is also another door into the garden.

Upstairs you will find 2 super king sized bedrooms, 1 double bedroom, 2 twin bedrooms, (these 5 bedrooms still retain their original fire places (non functional) and vanity sinks) and 1 single bedroom, Some of the bedrooms also have shutters at the windows. There is also a shower room with Wc, sink and Shower. The separate bathroom has a Jacuzzi bath and shower attachment, wc and sink.

Outside to the rear of the property is a large enclosed garden which is laid mainly to lawn with an arch way that leads down the side of the house into the south facing graveled courtyard and then on into the front paved garden that overlooks the square.

The property is ideal for large families or groups.

Fantastic location, huge amounts of space for all!

Thank you for a fantastic family break. This house was amazing for our family, we had a party of 8 adults and 3 children. There was more than enough space for everyone. The bedrooms are massive, as is the garden so plenty of space for the children and dog to run around. The 2 living rooms were brilliant for us to all spread out if we needed to.

The house is in a great location in the centre of the village with 3 pubs locally, a local shop with everything you would need, a coffee shop/bakery.

There is brilliant access to the woods about a 10 minute walk away, which was ideal for walking the dog.

The house was clean and had all the essentials you would need. We had a brilliant stay and will book again for next year!

I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a large house for a big group of people, very reasonably priced fro the space you get!

It really is as good as it looks.

We have just returned from 4 wonderful days at Charter House in Hartland. The house is welcoming, generously proportioned and equipped with everything you could possibly need for a mixed-age family group. We particularly relished its location situated centrally with local amenities and enjoyed a superb meal at the Hart Inn next door. The most spectacular coastline is a mere 3 miles away and the unique heritage village of Clovelly just 10 minutes drive. We would highly recommend booking Charter House whatever the season. It really is as good as it looks.

Perfect in every way

We booked for a party of 5 adults 4 kids (2-15) and 2 dogs to celebrate 'Christmas' (in July!!). The property size was perfect with 6 bedrooms, 2 lounges, a large farmhouse kitchen and an enclosed garden safe for children and dogs.

The house had everything you could possibly need and was very comfortable and clean. Large car park next door made parking easy although it can get busy early in the day.

Its a great location for exploring North Devon and Cornwall.

The village its self has 2 shops and 3 pubs, all friendly, helpful and welcoming. We didn't eat in at the pubs but had a takeaway curry from the Hart Inn which was lovely.

Charter House was perfect in every way for us and hope to return in the future.

Maybe for another 'Christmas'

Perfect!

Perfect! Was booked for large family party for mum 75th and it suited us all exactly as hoped. Clean and fully equipped , kitchen could seat all 9 of us for fun meals . Dog loved the huge garden and woods opposite , great location to take a dog. The pub nextdoor gave us a private room and served a delicious meal . Loads of free parking as we took a lot of cars . Highly recommend .

Lovely large house in superb location.

Booked this property for a 60th birthday get together for 8 adults. The house is huge with 2 separate lounges, a large formal dining room and a massive kitchen with a farmhouse style table easily able to seat us all for breakfast together.

A variety of bedrooms ranging from superking to twin and single made sure that all in our party were catered for. Outside, we were able to make good use of the sunny courtyard and the the large lawned garden both with dining tables and chairs .

A walk to Hartland Quay and a visit to Clovelly helped to burn off some calories ready for an evening at the Hart Public House next door which provided excellent food served, in a private dining room adding to the feeling of family house party.

The Charter House is a rare holiday property indeed, being suitable for groups of friends or families of all ages. I would certainly book again for future gatherings.

Wonderful Christmas Break

We had a very enjoyable stay at Charter House over Christmas. It is superbly located on the Village Square and we were delighted to able to join in with the Carol Service in the Square on Christmas Eve. It is a lovely holiday home, a short distance from beaches and the village amenities are more than you could wish for. The house itself was comfortable, well equipped and the owner and her daughter couldn't have been more helpful. We would love to go back if we can..

Nearest Airport : Exeter at 72 Miles Nearest Barpub : Hart Inn at 10 Metres Nearest Ferry : Plymouth at 55 Miles Nearest Train : Barnstaple at 27 Miles Nearest Motorway : A39 at 3 Miles Nearest Restaurant : at 10 Metres Nearest Beach : Hartland Quay at 2.5 Miles Car: recommended

Hartland Quay the nearest beach is a mix of sand and rock making it a good place for the younger members of your party to go exploring the rock pools. There is also a restaurant/pub here where you can sit down and relax whilst enjoying some wonderful sunsets after a hike along the rugged North Devon coast path.

The beaches of Westward! and Bude are about 20mins drive away.

There are several gardens and historical houses to visit in north Devon these include Hartland Abbey, Docton Mill, Rosemoore, and Arlington Court. The village of Clovelley is also near by.

Theme parks in the area include The Milky Way and the Big Sheep.

Changeover Day:
We prefer a Saturday change over but can be flexible. The house will be ready for your arrival form 4.30 pm and we ask that you depart no later than 10am on your departure date unless otherwise agreed.
Bedding is not provided for the Travel cot

A 25% booking deposit is required. The balance and the damages deposit is due with in 8 weeks of the start of your holiday.
We accept payment by Cheque, Bank Transfer or as a personnel payment through PayPal.
