About the Owner

We (Bill & Debby) moved to France from Essex in SE England. Over the years here we have acquired a playful dog, 3 loving cats and 2 elderly chickens.

Bill loves photography and is often seen in the morning with the dog and his camera. He has had many photos displayed in local exhibitions and some have been sold.

Debby's domain is the kitchen garden and the kitchen. She grows, creates and then tests on Bill. Her specialty are deserts - low calorie of course.

Whilst in England we loved the thrill of motorcycling and fast cars but since moving to France we have embraced the slower, calmer pace of life and now, well now we drive a Yaris.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Kate & Chris from Manchester 20 SEP 2014

We stayed in the house in mid September and were blessed with glorious weather. The accommodation was perfect; the house was clean, spacious and comfortable. The outside area is amazing with a good sized pool, plenty of comfortable sun loungers and a lovely outdoor eating area. Even the parasols were well thought out meaning that we could always find shade when it got really hot. The village is a short walk and has at least two good bakerys providing tasty croissants and cakes.

After a couple of hours the house felt like home, it is cosy as well as having beautiful views. The French Boules and other games were a nice touch and added to the holiday nicely.

Debby and Bill were helpful and friendly at all times and the information book on the local area was very detailed and organised, which was incredibly helpful.

Don & Alyson from Huddersfield 15 JUL 2014

Crème de la crème of gite accommodation, you won't find better anywhere else. The house and gardens are kept in pristine condition and Bill and Debby are the perfect hosts with an abundance of local knowledge for your stay. Village/river beach within walking distance has everything you need. The perfect place to relax and soak up the atmosphere. Ideal for any age group, can't recommend it highly enough.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay and could have easily stayed another couple of weeks.

Jessica Williams & Family from Hampshire 30 JUN 2014

Thank you so much for a fantastic holiday! The whole family thoroughly enjoyed the gite. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the weather. We spent plenty of time reading in the super comfortable sun loungers and had plenty of nice meals around the BBQ.

The welcome pack was fantastic and such a thoughtful touch! It provided lots of lovely things to eat and meant we didn't have to worry about shopping as soon as we got there.

The local areas are lovely to explore. We particularly liked the Lily gardens where we had a lovely meal - with frogs singing in the background. The Commandarie was also really lovely food.

Overall we would thoroughly recommend the gite to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday in lovely accommodation.

Thanks again!

Beautiful, idyllic, restful

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at Castelmorin during the Easter break. We had a restful stay in beautiful surroundings- inside and out; Debbie and Bill were marvellous hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Everything within the gite was to a very high standard . We felt very well looked after in such breathtaking surroundings. Thank you for your hospitality .

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind comments. We feel it is important to find that balance between being on hand and maintaining a discreet distance. Sometimes our guests revel in independence and exploration while others enjoy the interaction and the knowledge of the area that we can provide. It was lovely to meet you and your family.

Beautiful gite , immaculate attention to detail.

Debby and Bill have a fantastic property and we had a wonderful holiday. Although they are nearby and extremely helpful they also do not intrude. We would definitely recommend this gite.

Amazing ♡♡

  • 5 of 5

The listing of this property does not do this place justice! In pictures it looks great in real it's is totally over welming. The scenery is breathe taking and totally relaxing. It was a perfect a holiday making lots of family memories great local amenities with the local village a 5 minute walk with a great bakery! Supermarket a close drive and very easy to find (even for us haha) Deb & Bill were great hosts and on hand to help or advise where ever we needed being next door. But also gave us the privacy to enjoy our holiday in the luxury barn and the heated private pool was great and kept clean daily (never got in our way was done before we were even awake). We enjoyed the local evening market night a must do! Locals were friendly and good atmosphere, bordeaux an hour and 20 mins drive was also a great day lots to see and do. Visted local villages and surrounding areas, ate at some lovely places to all in the guide left by Deb & Bill at the barn. My favourite meal was on our last day at latour-marliac lilly garden Definitely worth a visit even if not eating. Would highly recommend and cannot wait to return our daughter was very sad to be leaving as we're we.

An amazing week of relaxation

  • 5 of 5

With a friend and 2 teenage boys to cater for we were looking for a relaxing break in a Gite with a little bit more than average and this holiday certainly delivered in all areas. It is in an idyllic spot with absolutely stunning views to match the gite which was absolutely spotless and easily fitted us all in. Debby and Bill couldn't have done anymore to accommodate us from picking us up from the airport to a very welcome essentials when we arrived. The pool was the icing on the cake which we spent many hours enjoying along with the boules and other games provided. There really was nothing missed. Hope you all enjoy this gite as much as we did.

Wonderfully relaxing gite holiday!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Biraud Bas, for an additional week this time - which says it all. The gite is perfect for a relaxing family holiday, with plenty of space for everyone and everything that you could need. The location is simply beautiful, and very private. Couldn't ask for more!

Fabulous Gite, Quality Holiday

  • 5 of 5

First class accommodation in every way. Finished to an very high standard. It surpassed our expectations, even the pictures do not do this justice. Very clean and the facilities are great.

Bill & Debby were the perfect hosts with regards to helpful local advice and the service we received. Over and above in the case of our son's allergies which Debby gave us a sentence in French to show shopkeepers to make sure they were aware of his needs.

We would definitely recommend this Gite to anyone who wants a quality, relaxing holiday in a beautiful part of the world.

From the Owner

For us, this property has everything. The stunning outlook and the charm of years gone by. The location is near the village but not in the village, a short walk for a bar, a pizza, a supermarket but we can still sit in our back garden and we could be miles from anywhere. We have the best of both worlds.

From the Owner

The location of the property is, we consider, quite rare. We sit at the back looking over those amazing views and can easily forget that Castelmoron sur lot is only a 15 minute walk away. It's a nice walk in the mornings to the bread shop where we can pick up a pain au raisin (danish pastry) to eat over the road in the cafe with a coffee. Wednesday the village really comes alive with the market stalls and locals meeting up. It isn't necessary to leave the village as the shops have all we could possibly want but some of the places outside our little oasis are also too good to miss.
