Overview

About the property

Romantic cottage in peaceful countryside close to Ludlow and Tenbury Wells

Hop Pickers’ House is a stylish, cosy cottage, situated in a rural location, on the edge of Brook Farm, and surrounded by nine acres of gardens, meadow and woodland. It’s a delightful refurbished hop pickers' house – a perfect spot to relax and get away from it all - or explore some of the prettiest towns and countryside in England.

We’re just a couple of miles from the riverside town of Tenbury Wells and a ‘stone’s throw’ from historic Ludlow, with its famous restaurants, markets and festivals. Uniquely positioned - on the borders of three of the most picturesque English counties, Shropshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire - there's so much to do and explore.

Hop Pickers’ House has a spacious open plan layout – with old beams, and wooden floors oozing charm and character. Relax in rocking chairs beside the wood-burning stove, enjoy breakfast at the farmhouse table, check your e-mails while watching the geese waddling across the lawn, settle down on a cosy sofa with a cup of tea or cuddle up in a really cosy king-size four poster bed, listening to the barn owls. It’s what we call ‘lustic’ – rustic and full of character, but in a luxurious kind of way. Here's more about the layout:

Ground floor: Open plan kitchen (well-equipped, and with dishwasher), dining and living area (rustic farmhouse table), cosy corner with wood-burning stove and rocking chairs, TV (Freesat) / DVD / Wi-fi. Outside garden and seating / dining.

First floor: Bedroom with king-size four poster bed and sofa area. Bathroom with WC, a free-standing bath and separate walk-in shower.

There's parking right outside the cottage.

We’ll welcome you with some delicious local fare – and tasty supplies for your first breakfast! Linen and towels are also provided, as well as your first basket of logs for the wood-burning stove. Well-behaved dogs are very welcome (at no additional charge).

We have a beautiful, classic English garden which we hope our guests will explore and enjoy during their stay. Take a wander along the brook, catch a beautiful sunset - and in the warmer weather, head to our barbecue spot in the top meadow for a glass of wine and a bite to eat in the late evening sun.

We share our space with our two gorgeous labradors, a couple of farm cats, geese and ducks...and two rather shy Soay sheep.

There are many walks from the door – and we're just a short drive from the Long Mynd and Church Stretton, the first town in the Midlands to be awarded ‘Walkers are Welcome’ status.

A beautiful place to just be.

Why Stephen chose Shropshire

It's stunningly gorgeous. We love it - and we know you will too.

It’s a delightful refurbished hop pickers' house – a perfect spot to relax and get away from it all - or explore some of the prettiest towns and countryside in England.

We’re in Berrington, a hamlet just a couple of miles from the riverside town of Tenbury Wells and a ‘stone’s throw’ from historic Ludlow, with its famous restaurants, markets and festivals. There's so much to do and explore.

What makes this cottage unique

Hop Pickers' House is in a peaceful rural location - on the edge of Brook Farm. We have a beautiful, classic English garden which our guests are free to explore during their stay. Wherever you wander to, you'll catch a beautiful sunset (in the summer, head to our barbecue spot in the top meadow for a glass of wine and a bite to eat in the late evening sun!!)

We're on the borders of three of the most picuresque English counties - Shropshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire. A great place to enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside, visit some of the prettiest towns or dine in some of the country's best restaurants.

Ludlow has fantastic markets and exceptional places to eat - try a cicchetti bar, French bistro or simply tuck in to a delicious Ludlow sausage sandwich! Combine a visit with one of its world-famous food or medieval festivals.

Our local town, Tenbury Wells is known as the “town in the orchard”, an ideal point for picking up the local cider route (or sampling a few of the local brews). Tenbury also has a lovely selection of independent shops and a striking art-deco theatre / cinema, The Regal.

There are spectacular gardens in the area - Berrington Hall, Brockhampton Estate and the walled garden at Croft Castle near Leominster. Also, beautiful Stockton Bury. Or follow the Black & White Villages Trail, through some of England's prettiest villages.

We really welcome doggie guests - and there's no extra charge.

There are many walks from the door – and we're just a short drive from the Long Mynd and Church Stretton, the first town in the Midlands to be awarded ‘Walkers are Welcome’ status.

It's beautiful place to be.

Nearby Towns:

Ludlow is great for sightseeing, shopping and eating. It has a different (and lively) market every day and is home to some superb restaurants and cafes. For a real treat, time your visit to coincide with the internationally-renound Ludlow Food Festival.

Tenbury Wells is a beautiful riverside towns, nestled between two bridges (one in Shropshire and one in Worcestershire!). It has a wide range of independent shops and cafes - and a beautifully restored art-deco cinema / theatre.

Leominster is great for antique and vintage finds - as is Bromyard.

And we're really handy for Church Stretton, Long Mynd Ironbridge and the wonderful Shropshire countryside.

Things to do / places to see:

* Gardens to visit – Stockton Bury, Hergest Croft, Berrington Hall (Capability Brown), Burford House

* Historic buildings to see – Croft Castle, Ludlow Castle, Stokesay Court, Ironbridge

* Local food and drink to sample – Ludlow Food Festival, Ludlow Food Centre, Herefordshire Cider Route, Broadfield Vinery, Ludlow Brewery

* Sports to watch / take part in – Ludlow golf course, Ludlow race course, gym / swimming in Tenbury.

* Antique hunting – a range of specialist shops in nearby Bromyard and Leominster, one of the premier antiques towns in the country (with the largest reclamation yard in the country)
