About Jo Weatherill

I'm Jo Weatherill married to Andy and with a 16 year old son Harry. Andy has a son and daughter from a previous marriage and both are all grown up now. We live at North Dockenbush with our ducks, hens, geese, dogs etc and offer B & B in the main house and have a gorgeous holiday cottage for self catering rental.

North Dockenbush provides us with peace and tranquillity and allows us to get away from our busy lives, Andy is a builder - always busy - and I help by doing his admin etc. I had a fairly successful career in marketing until a family tragedy made us rethink and take stock, we made some changes including moving to North Dockenbush and setting up the B & B and cottage - that was only April 2014 so early days!

Jo Weatherill purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Jo Weatherill chose Harrogate

Dockenbush Cottage is situated just a mile from the lovely village of Brearton, in a rural location which gives peace and tranquillity yet it is only a 15 min drive to the spa town of Harrogate, 10 minutes to the market town of Knaresborough and 15 minutes to Ripon with its beautiful cathedral.

Dockenbush Cottage sits behind our home -North Dockenbush - yet is private with its own garden with lavender & rosemary borders, the cottage sits in over 3 acres. Whilst a car is necessary, nearby towns provide a host of restaurants and activities, Ripon Cathedral, Ripley Castle, Brimham Rocks, Fountains Abbey, Lightwater Valley, Newby Hall are just a few of the many nearby attractions.

What makes this cottage unique

Dockenbush Cottage is located in a quiet, rural location 1 mile away from the village of Brearton with a great pub/eatery 'The Malt Shovel'.

Whilst the main house is across the courtyard, the cottage is very private with all windows and doors looking out to the fields and away from the house! Guests at the cottage enjoy FREE WiFi, FREE parking, a convenient location for Harrogate, Ripon, Knaresborough, Pateley Bridge, Ripley Castle and Grounds.

Outdoor games are available for children (and adults) inc a full size table tennis in our games room.

Patio table, chairs, BBQ all available to enjoy those warmer days and nights.

Log burner for those cooler nights though the cottage is very cosy due to its underfloor heating throughout.

Wow, a stunning, immaculate cottage in an idyllic location. A fabulous stay.

  • 5 of 5

We spent a fabulous three nights in Jo and Andy’s beautiful cottage with our two daughters aged 3 and 6. Everything we could have possibly needed was catered for and the welcome from Jo, with so many additional lovely extras was delightful.

The cottage is quiet, with a lovely outlook onto grazing sheep and my girls loved the morning greeting from the geese as they pottered around. Jo is an excellent host, the cottage is beautifully decorated with sumptuous furnishings and super comfortable beds with fluffy towels and lovely bed linen. It exceeds the five stars by miles and we’d happily have stayed much longer.

The local gastro pub The Malt Shovel is well worth a visit and is in walking distance. We also tried the Inn at South Stainley which was really good and catered well for children too.

Thank you to Jo and Andy for a superb break in Yorkshire, we’ll be telling all our friends about this gorgeous home from home and will be back soon. Xx

Beautiful and quiet secluded cottage in a fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Dockenbush Cottage was for Christmas and Jo couldn’t have made us feel more welcome with fresh flowers on the table and a twinkly modern Christmas tree to put our presents under. The cottage is beautiful, with great underfloor heating throughout, plus a wood burning stove. Our kids had a great time too, with reindeer food to put out on Christmas Eve, a games room with ping pong in another farm builsinu and swings outside. Thanks so much.

Beautiful, peaceful cottage, finished to a high standard

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay, the cottage was stunning. It had everything we could need.

Jo left some treats for when we arrived which was so thoughtful. Jo is an amazing host and was on hand if we needed anything, even a night light we forgot for our daughter!

The beds were so comfortable, and the cottage is kept cosy with the under floor heating.

You can watch the ducks, geese, chickens and sheep from the garden and cottage windows- they are very entertaining!

We will be back to enjoy the cottage again x

A fantastic stay in a truly beautiful cottage

  • 5 of 5

A great stay in this lovely cottage! So clean and well kept with everything you could need. A great welcome selection of wine, biscuits and some essentials was great. Jo had kindly put a travel cot up for us as we travelled with our 8 week old daughter. We were also with my parents so the layout was fantastic - rooms at either end, both with en suites.

Very peaceful and location great for nearby walks. Would thoroughly recommend and hope to return. Thanks for a great stay!

Peaceful countryside

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is in a idyllic contryside location, ideal for exploring the Yorkshire area. A small village nearby with a restaurant/pub, and many more in nearby villages. The cottage itself appears brand new and is tastefully decorated. The owner Jo was very helpful and provided everything wee needed. We enjoyed spending time both in the cottage, being a part of the country life with living room view to a field with sheeps, as well as the many nearby attractions and towns. I will certainly recommend!
