About B&R Moorhouse

We are a family from Derbyshire who have long enjoyed all that the Lake District has to offer and would love you to come and enjoy it too.

B&R Moorhouse purchased this house in 2002

Why B&R Moorhouse chose Windermere

We love the feel of our beautiful house at the top of a cul-de-sac in a park situation with views of the lake and of the mountains. Fabulous! Whilst it is on the edge of Bowness-on-Windermere it is only a short walk into town. We just love it!

What makes this house unique

Our home could be your home for 3 or more nights. You could bring your friends or family and stay and enjoy yourselves in our super house. No waiting for the bathroom and plenty of hot water. Relax in our comfortable lounge or snug or sit on the balcony. It is possible to sit outside under the balcony canopy even if it is raining. With a drink in hand you can sit on the balcony watching the wildlife and admiring the views.

Perfect for large groups. Very clean & comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Lots of room & open areas but still cosy & warm, very clean & comfortable, lovely view and nice outdoor area. Sufficient parking. Close to Bowness. Great communal areas and plenty of bathrooms and kitchen space.

Superb stay at Staddlestones near Bowness

  • 4 of 5

A lovely and generally well appointed property. Just a few niggles with the facilities in the kitchen, like, why is there never a sharp knife in rented properties, and 2 of the 4 fridges needed repairs to their fitments. However 4 fridges ( as well as 3 freezers) in one house is more than enough for anyone - 2 0n the top floor and one in each utility on each of the other 2 floors. Plenty of crockery & cutlery, not just enough for 16. We had no problem with the cooking facilities but being used to an induction hob we found the rings rather slow.

The top floor (living area) has, as well as the kitchen, an L shaped very comfortable dining/lounge area with fantastic views over lake Windermere, (when it's not raining!)

Unlike previous reviewers we had no problems with the heating once we got used to the night storage heaters, or the supply of hot water. There was plenty for hot showers, there being a separate boiler on each floor.

We would heartily recommend 'Lake District Catering Ltd.' who provide us with an excellent celebration dinner.

Could'nt have asked for a better property.

  • 5 of 5

I hired this property for a surprise 30th birthday celebration. I couldn't have asked for a better place to enjoy this weekend. The communication was prompt, and nothing was a hassle. I also arranged hot tub hire, which the owners sorted for me with no fuss.

The property itself has everything you need. It is very spacious, and felt even bigger than the pictures suggest. We had 16 guests and there was plenty of room for everyone to enjoy. The outdoor space is probably the properties best asset, as the views over the lake from the large balcony were stunning. I would definitely recommend this property, and I'm sure we'll be back at some point in the future. Thanks for a great weekend!

Great property, really spacious and well laid out

  • 4 of 5

Perfect for the stag weekend and well situated near to Bowness in Windermere. Only real issue during the weekend was that the electricity on the upper layer kept tripping out (probably about 20-30 times. This made cooking really tricky. Once the cooker was off it was better but then it also tripped out during both of our nights there. Other than that, everything was good. Beds were comfortable and there was everything there we needed

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review. The power tripped out on your first evening due a faulty electrical item. My husband drove the 100 miles straight away and fixed the fault the same evening. We paid for a takeaway for yourselves as compensation for your inconvenience. Thing can be working one minute and develop a fault the next, while this is a nuisance it is, unfortunately part of all our lives!

Ideal house for three generations

  • 4 of 5

Booked this house because it was the ideal configuration to accommodate three generations of the family to celebrate our golden wedding. Our three family party consisted of seven adults and four children so a dining table that could seat 14 people was a real treat. The large open plan lounge/dining area was the living hub of this property and afforded magnificent views over Windermere towards the Furness Fells (weather permitting).

All the rooms were tastefully furnished and the five bathrooms meant that there were no queues in the morning. However, storage heaters for all the living areas and timed immersion heaters for hot water did mean a few cool baths for the children before we conquered the intricacies of the booster switches.

The location of Staddlestones requires a car journey to the nearest shops and is quite a walk to a bus stop. Parking is difficult in Bowness so for large family shopping it is better (and cheaper) to head to Kendal or Greenodd for the super-markets.

Our stay in late October was not blessed by fine days and sunshine but then this is the Lake District. A warm summer's evening on the balcony after a day on the fells must be heaven.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Staddlestones helped to make it a special occasion.
