We are Carol & Carl Mills and are from the UK. One of the first things we did when we first met, was to go on holiday to the Loire Valley. We fell in love with this wonderful part of France, as well as with each other. We loved the region so much, we decided to buy our French home in the Loire Valley. We called it Notre Petit Coin, ‘our Little Corner’ of France. We really love sharing our little secret corner of the Loire and allowing our special guests to explore the many exciting sides to the Loire region.
Carol Mills purchased this cottage in 2011
When we found Notre Petit Coin, we were swept away with the setting, the open space, the lovely character houses, the peacefulness, yet we were still close to some lovely main towns. On top of that, we were in the middle of the Loire Valley with all its wonderful attractions and beauty.
We love the pace of life, the choice we have each day - whether to stay at home, go out for a bike ride, discover some new vineyards, watch the Le Mans
24 hour car racing, visit another chateau, go shopping, watch the Cadre Noir horses in Saumur, have a long lunch in one of the many restaurants or a picnic in the sunshine or stroll alongside the Loire River .....
We know you are going to be delighted too.
We have spent the last few years preparing the houses for our guests to enjoy. You will find that we have worked hard to ensure you have luxurious standards, without losing the real character of such lovely properties. Our aim and vision is to ensure that our guests’ expectations are exceeded when they come to stay at Notre Petit Coin. So we have given a lot of thought and taken a lot of time preparing our homes in readiness for you to discover our little corner of France too – we know you will be delighted and will go away feeling that you have had a relaxing and enjoyable time in such a wonderful part of the world.
We look forward to welcoming you soon to Notre Petit Coin soon.

Coquelicot Cottage was just what we needed. Beautifully restored, clean and well maintained whilst keeping the history of the building. Carol and Carl were (are) the perfect hosts - warm and friendly, yet respectful, and had good suggestions of what to see and do. We miss sitting outside and reading in the sunshine! And having a refreshing dip in the pool. And the cows in the field. So peaceful. Would not hesitate to recommend the cottage - perfect for a couple.
Spacious kitchen, light living room, modern bathroom and a big undisturbed garden with a fine view over the fields and the forrest. The host and hostess are kind, helpful, well informed about the area and discreete. We spent two weeks in this cottage and we had a very succesful holiday. The standard is such that it is really good value. To be recommended!
Ideal for 2 people, has all the equipment in the house that you require.
Outside there is a lovely area to sit have meals read. there is seating everywhere in the garden
if you want to follow the sun.The surrounding countryside has forests cultivated villages and very peaceful.Carol and Carl are excellent hosts and will help with varies places to go if you ask. WE enjoyed our stay very much and can highly
recommend it The weather in September was a bonus.
Just back from a truly wonderful week at Coquelicot cottage. The sense of relaxation takes hold almost as soon as you've unpacked. The location is sublime, the views glorious with open fields almost as far as the eye can see. The newly installed swimming pool was an absolute joy from which to sit and relax in and just soak up the peace and tranquility whilst watching the red squirrels cavorting and the butterflies dancing. The cottage itself is indeed as other reviewers have commented, beautifully and sympathetically restored with such care and attention to detail that it is a joy to be in and yes, the views from the bedroom window really are a delight to wake up to each morning. The weather was beautiful all week so eating outdoors, overlooking the fields, sipping a glass of wine was also a delight and on a least one occasion we couldn't even bring ourselves to leave the cottage and go exploring further afield. Complete peace and such a break from the usual hustle and bustle of working life. On the days when we did manage to tear ourselves away we had a very enjoyable time at Le Mans museum (husbands birthday treat!), an easy hours drive away, easy to find and reasonably priced. Another highly recommended day was spent at the Bioparc, a conservation park complete with swimming Pygmy hippos! Closer to the cottage, there are plenty of country walks straight from the door and we spent most evenings having a stroll in the country lanes, stopping to watch the horses nearby and occasionally catching sight of a deer as it scurried past. Turn right as you come out of the drive and their are huge fields full of glorious sunflowers. A sight to behold. As for Carol and Carl, they were perfect hosts, on hand for advice if needed, always happy to help but also without being in the least bit intrusive. A perfect balance and we will certainly be returning to share their 'little piece of heaven'. Highly recommended to all.
Carol and Carl have created the perfect place to get away from it all and enjoy all the great things France has to offer! Thanks to them for a very warm welcome and for making sure that I had everything I needed during my stay.
Coquelicot cottage has been sensitively and beautifully converted from the original building, whilst being fully equipped with all mod-cons and everything you need to relax in comfort. The patio and garden in front is perfectly positioned for enjoying meals from breakfast through to supper or simply lazing about taking in the view. In more inclement weather, the charming sun lounge is a cosy and peaceful place to sit with large windows that bring the outside in.
When you can tear yourself away, the rivers, countryside, towns and chateaux of the Loire are within easy reach – as are all the local facilities you will need. It was my first visit to the region and it certainly lives up to its reputation; too much to see in one visit so I will be back for more in the future.
If you are planning to drive, the journey down from the Channel ports is smooth and easy. You will have no regrets about choosing to stay here – just book!
We decided to spend our Christmas at this wonderful cottage in the Loire Valley, and we are so glad we did!
The area was beautiful, with rolling hills and fields on the drive there, and upon arrival at the cottage, we immediately fell in love with it.
The original French charm and character is immediately apparent, but so is the care and attention to quality and detail of decoration and furnishings that the owners have so passionately put into making this a wonderful holiday home away from home.
The owners, Carol and Carl, have created luxury, warmth, coziness and practicality within this cottage, from the exquisite decorations, colours and accents, to the furnishings and fixtures. The bedroom was rustically romantic, incredibly peaceful, and looking out of the window at first light was a great way to start the day.
The kitchen had everything needed to cater for ourselves (me, my wife and our baby boy) for the Christmas period that we were there, and it was but a short drive to the nearest supermarkets and stores to get anything extra that we needed.
Of course, the proximity to the heart of the Loire Valley was the main reason we chose the location, and even in winter this was a perfect place to be to unwind and relax. We want to visit again in the summer to explore even further all of the options the region has to offer.
We can't recommend this lovely cottage enough. A relatively short journey from Angers or even Paris airport(s) through rolling French countryside, as soon as you enter the driveway and pull up at the door of the cottage, with the hugest garden and rolling fields stretching as far as the eye can see from the door, you feel immediately at home. And as soon as you walk inside, the warmth and special style of the place helps you settle right in. Truly, a very special place for a holiday.
The owners truly have a small corner of paradise here (it is called Notre Petit Coin after all!), and it made our Christmas getaway even more relaxing and enjoyable.
Thank you to Carol and Carl, and we will be back soon!
