Set up from the road, and having a front seating area, this fisherman's cottage has sea views from all floors. It is Simply furnished but comfortable and fully equipped. There is a rear patio and glass summer house with sun most of the day in summer. Portland is ideal for sailors, birdwatchers fishermen, divers and walkers. Lovely cottage. Prime location. Would reccomend

  • 5 of 5

Just got back from a week stay in Kearney Cottage and myself (26) and my mother (55) had a fantastic time. The cottage, situated on Portland, is a lovely part of the country that we have never visited before.

The cottage itself was fantastic, very clean and tidy, plenty of space and storage and all the essentials you would need for a self catering holiday. The bedrooms were comfy and the views fantastic. Although we did not use it, the summer house is a bonus and would be a lovely place to spend a relaxing evening. We also liked having a washing machine as after a rainy day walking around our clothes needed a bit of a clean.

The cottage is on a busy one way road (I think the main route onto the isle) but parking was not a problem and once inside no noise could be herd. A Co-Op is literally 2 minutes walk away stocking everything you need. We also enjoyed a take away meal from the local Chip Shop (also a 2 minute walk).

As for the local area itself, I defy you not to find something to suit everyone's interests. we spent an entire day on Portland exploring and could have seen and done more. We also traveled to Weymouth, West Bay and Lulworth, all very convenient to reach by car. I know a regular bus runs from Portland to Weymouth too for those without a car. And if you have kids (or are a big kid at heart) a trip to Monkey World is a must.

I can't recommend this cottage enough if you are wanting to visit this part of the country and the area's close by. We are already thinking of re-booking again in the future.
