Beautiful, luxurious and spacious accommodation. Ideal for two [or three] for a holiday at any time of the year it provides the perfect location for a wide range of activities and interests. The cottage is located in the countryside surrounded by open fields and forest and near many historic towns, beautiful coastline and beaches. This character cottage provides the ideal base for a holiday in Brittany for two, or a maximum of three. Renovated to a high standard the Cottage retains many of the original features but with modern finishes and a full inventory of kitchen and household equipment. Space inside and out for everyone and all the facilities you need for a comfortable successful stay. The Cottage has a quiet country location but is within easy driving distance of all amenities and a wide range of possible activities.

The Cottage is just 1km, 10/15 minutes walk, from the local village with its award winning butcher and baker, local food store, pharmacy and hairdresser. Jugon-les-Lacs and Lamballe [10mins] the historic town of Dinan [20mins] are short easy drives away. St Malo & Dinard [45mins] Cancale & Mont St Michel [60 mins] and the beautiful Emerauld and Pink Granite coastlines are also within easy reach.

This part of Brittany provides the opportunity to take part in a wide range of interests and activities. Golf courses, fishing [Lake and Sea], horse-riding, sailing, diving, boating, cycling, walking, music and dance festivals and numerous other activities are all possible and available.

Of course, there is the opportunity as well to indulge in the food of France and in particular the wine and cider, seafood and other specialties of the region.

Slightly further afield for example Caen and the Normandy beaches, Bayeux, the Cherbourg peninsular, and other historic sites and attractions in Brittany can be easily reached in just a couple of hours on roads that are generally a pleasure to drive at any time of the year. Guests often comment on the ease of access to resorts and towns and in particular the availability of parking often free or at little cost.

A wood burning fire provides warmth when needed or for cooler Autumn or Winter days and nights and is a great facility for anyone wanting a cosy Autumn or winter break.

The Cottage provides a great base for exploring this part of Brittany and doing as much or as little as you wish on your holiday.

About Stephen Howell

English owners we have lived in this longere, since 2006 and have spent several years renovating the property including creating the Cottage as self-contained accommodation. With the aid of local artisans we have designed and renovated the Cottage to a high standard. Completed in 2014 we have been pleased to offer the Cottage to let since 2015 and welcome guests to this beautiful part of Brittany. We live in the adjacent property so we are able to ensure guests are greeted personally and are on hand nearby to give help or advice if needed.

We chose this particular location because we enjoy the beautiful coast and beaches which are a short drive away and the easy access to the historic towns and villages of our region. It has all the advantages of living in the countryside near to towns which have all the amenities whilst being close to the sea. We also chose it as it is well served by local airports, ports and railways giving access to regional and international links.

We prefer to handle all the bookings and changeover arrangements ourselves so you will find our property on several sites so please check these out, look at the comparative prices and booking arrangements and check out our reviews.

We do require a booking/security deposit and initial rental payment at the time of booking and will be in touch personally about this following your enquiry. Our aim it to ensure that by booking with us direct you get the holiday you have booked and are assured that you have not been scammed by some third party into paying in advance for a holiday that does not exist! We have already established an excellent reputation with past guests and received repeat visits from some and are always pleased to welcome new guests to introduce them to this part of Brittany.

Why Stephen Howell chose Dinan area

Because it is in a quiet countryside location but has easy access to towns and coastal areas throughout the region.

We think this property has the best of both worlds being located in the country but close enough to the sea and coast to enjoy either whenever it suits. 'Entre terre et mer' it is in a great location for exploring this beautiful part of Brittany.

It is also easy to get to and from ports and airports in the region and further afield.

What makes this cottage unique

We can offer short or longer break stays outside the main holiday season. The Cottage is located in a rural setting, surrounded by forests and fields with open views over the surrounding countryside with all the traditional features of an old granite built farmhouse. We are in a great location for visiting this part of Brittany.

Restored to a high standard we have retained many original features in this newly renovated property but we have also included modern finishes and provided everything needed for a successful holiday stay. If you plan to self-cater throughout your holiday then the kitchen is fully equipped to enable you to do this but we think there are plenty of reasons for taking a break from the kitchen and enjoying the local restaurants in our area.

Many restaurants offer good value menu's especially at lunch time. This region is well known for sea food and crepes, cider and pork not to mention the wine and food of France as a whole. Moules frites, oysters and a glass of muscadet, scallops or a sea food platter, are some of the reasons you should consider this part of Brittany and our Cottage in particular for your next holiday. That is not all of course, there are many activities which we describe on our web site adverts which you can pursue in this area. Cycling, boating, golf, walking, horse-riding, swimming, sightseeing, visiting historic towns, sights or museums, or just lounging on the beach or in the garden are just a few examples of what is available..

Local coast and beaches all within 25/30 minutes drive on relatively quiet country roads including Cap Frehel, Sable d'Or, Erquy and Val Andre.

Further afield and within an hours drive to the east Mont St Michel, Cancale, and St Malo are favourite destinations.

An hour to the west and the coast and beaches of the Cotes Ivoire and the pink granite beaches can be reached.

A car is recommended unless you are a keen cyclist in which case this is a popular cycling area.

Beech floors, a stone feature wall and south facing windows together with a wood beamed ceiling provide a spacious comfortable character room. The twin beds are in double bed arrangement or can be placed in single bed arrangement on request. Complete with bedside cabinets and individual lighting the master bedroom is a large bright and generously proportioned room. Both bedrooms have open, south facing views over the surrounding fields and forest. The well proportioned single bedroom [12 square metres] has an adult size single bed, bed side cabinet, drawers and rocking chair seating and provides a spacious single room with great views over the garden and surrounding countryside.

Facilities: The Cottage is a luxurious, fully equipped property with modern equipment in a character building. Location and activities: The Cottage is ideal for an active, quiet or romantic getaway for two. Close to superb coastline and beaches we are in a rural setting, surrounded by fields and forest and associated farming/countryside activities. There are opportunities for many beautiful country, forest and coastal walks & cycle rides. Big skies and stunning views and sunsets are to be had here and on the coast in bucketfuls. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: towels and bed linen/duvets are provided. Guests are asked to bring their own swimming/beach towels but we can provide these on request. Cleaning is carried out weekly & on each changeover. There are two swimming pools within close proximity including a new outdoor/indoor complex at Jugon les Lacs just 10 minutes away which is open during the main season for non-residents.

Wonderful stay at Plèdèliac

It was a wonderful Holiday at this Beautiful cottage, with very nice owners. The rooms were well equipt and nicely decorated. If you like Peace and quite this is the perfect place. This is one on our list to stay at again.

Excellent hosts and venue

As a couple with no accompanying children we enjoyed a lovely stay. The accommodation was tip top. The photos really do not do justice. Nestled at the end of a characterful peaceful longere set in beautiful gardens. Walking distance from the beautiful local village, the setting is marvellous. Far from being dedicated ramblers we enjoyed many a walk - including a visit to the local buffalo herd which was a very pleasant surprise Stephen and Kathy - thank you for your wonderful hospitality and for allowing us to share a slice of your life. We very much hope to visit again as we were enchanted. D and J.

Charmant cottage, parfait pour trois personnes

Accueil excellent. Nous avions un problème de voiture et notre hôte s’est proposé de faire, bénévolement, "le taxi" pour nous. L'équipement est complet et le cottage est d'un entretient facile. Bien situé dans la campagne, près des commerces de base, et proche de plus grands centres touristiques. de très bons restaurants à Lamballe: Le Prieuré, La Tête Noire.

Un gîte parfait pour nous qui participions au festival "Noir sur la ville" de Lamballe.

Peaceful countryside setting

The cottage was extremely well presented and maintained. It is on a no through country lane not very far from the village where there is a bakers and small supermarket. There is very little traffic passing the cottage which makes it ideal if you are looking for a place to relax and unwind. There are lovely views from the bedroom windows. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.

Rural cottage renovated to a very high standard, in quiet rural surroundings

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay. The cottage was well equipped and set in beautiful gardens. Stephen and Kathy made us feel very welcome and were helpful with lots of local knowledge. It was a short walk to the boulangerie, boucherie and local shop (there is also a pharmacy) in the morning which is located in Pledeliac, a small village. This is a good base for cycling and walking. This is a typically beautiful area of rural France, though quieter than other parts of Brittany, which was exactly what we wanted. Being only 50 minutes' drive from St Malo was a bonus. Highly recommended.

We have had quite a few cyclists staying this year and they have all enthused about the cycling opportunities in the area and the absence of potholes! Although everyone has been happy with the facilities we provide we are going to install a couple of cycle racks under the overhang of our workshop for guests use next year as part of our continuous effort to improve our service to guests. We won't be offering to do the rides or pump up the tyres but at least you will have them handy and ready to go when you need them!

Booking Notes:
We deal directly with you personally throughout the booking and payment stages. We also supply you with our detailed terms and conditions of letting prior to your completing the booking process.
We ask for completion of a booking form prior to acceptance of a booking.
Once the booking is confirmed we require a booking/security deposit of £150.00 €180 per calendar week or part week payable by bank transfer to a UK or euro bank account This deposit guarantees your booking and turns into a security deposit on your arrival for the duration of your stay. The security deposit is repaid to you at the end of your stay by bank transfer subject to there being no damage to the property or contents.
Once the booking is confirmed we also ask for an initial rental payment of 50% of the rental. The balance of the holiday rental is payable 60 days before your holiday is due to commence.
Contrary to any information Owners Direct may provide in their automated advance quote we do offer cancellation refunds. Our cancellation policy is clearly explained in our terms and conditions of letting which we supply to all potential guests at the enquiry stage. These terms and conditions of letting apply to all bookings once guests have made their initial booking deposit and rental payment.
Our standard rates are for two guests. A supplementary charge of £15.00 €20 per night is payable for a third guest.

We offer flexible changeover days. Subject to prior bookings we can accept bookings starting on Weekdays and Saturdays [we do not accept bookings which start on Sundays].
Check in is from 16. 00 hours until 20. 00 hours
Check out 10. 00 hours

Notes on prices:
Discounts for bookings of more than 7 nights are possible depending on the season.
Mini breaks [3+nights] possible in off peak periods.
The rates are for two guests a supplementary charge of £15.00 €20 per night is payable for a third person.
