Beautiful, luxurious and spacious accommodation. Ideal for two [or three] for a holiday at any time of the year it provides the perfect location for a wide range of activities and interests. The cottage is located in the countryside surrounded by open fields and forest, a short walk to the local village and near many historic towns, beautiful coastline and beaches. This character cottage provides the ideal base for a holiday in Brittany for two, or a maximum of three. Newly renovated to a high standard the Cottage retains many of the original features but with modern finishes and equipment. Space inside and out for everyone and all the facilities you need for a comfortable successful stay. A wood burning fire provides warmth on those cooler days and nights and a great facility for cosy Autumn or winter breaks. The Cottage has a quiet country location but with easy driving access to all amenities and a wide range of possible activities.

The Cottage is just 1km from the local village with its award winning butcher and baker, local food store, pharmacy and hairdresser. Jugon-les-Lacs, Lamballe [10mins] and the historic town of Dinan [20mins] are short drives away. St Malo & Dinard [45mins] Cancale & Mont St Michel [60 mins] and the beautiful Emerauld and Pink Granite coastlines are also within easy reach.

This part of Brittany provides the opportunity to take part in a wide range of interests and activities. Golf courses, fishing [Lake and Sea], horse-riding, sailing, diving, cycling, walking, music and dance festivals and numerous other activities are all possible.

Of course, there is the opportunity as well to indulge in the food and wine, cider, seafood and other specialties of the region.

Slightly further afield for example Caen and the Normandy beaches, Bayeux, the Cherbourg peninsular, and other historic sites and attractions in Brittany can be easily reached in just a couple of hours on roads that are generally a pleasure to drive at any time of the year.

About Stephen Howell

English owners we have lived in this longere, since 2006 and have spent several years renovating the property including creating the cottage as self-contained accommodation. Completed in 2014 we look forward to welcoming guests to the cottage and to this beautiful part of Brittany. We live on site so we are able to ensure guests are greeted personally and if there are any questions or problems we are on hand to sort them out personally.

We have designed and renovated the Cottage and also use it ourselves for family and friends so we have taken considerable care in ensuring it is of a high standard.

We chose this particular location because we enjoy the coast and beaches which are a short drive away and the easy access to the historic towns and villages of our region. We also chose it as it is well served by local airports, ports and railways.

We handle all the bookings and changeover arrangements ourselves, we do not rely on third parties and all bookings are handled direct with our guests following initial contact through one of only two sites we use for advertising.purposes. We do not rely on third parties to take any bookings so if you are approached by a third party to make any payments or reservations with them and you have not been in direct contact with us then you should check with us before making any arrangements or before you pay any money to anyone else. For example we require a booking/security deposit at the time of booking but this is handled by us directly with you. We also handle all rental payments directly with you as we want you to be assured that by booking with us direct you get the holiday you have booked and are assured that you have not been scammed by some third party into paying in advance for a holiday that does not exist! We have already established an excellent reputation with past guests, see our reviews, and have already received repeat visits from previous guests.

Why Stephen Howell chose Dinan area

Because it is in a quiet countryside location but has easy access to towns and coastal areas throughout the region.

We think this property has the best of both worlds being located in the country but close enough to the sea and coast to enjoy either whenever it suits. Entre terre et mer it is in a great location for exploring this beautiful part of Brittany.

It is also easy to get to and from ports and airports in the region and further afield.

What makes this cottage unique

We are "open all year" and welcome short break stays outside the main holiday season. in a rural setting, surrounded by forests but with open views over the surrounding fields together with the traditional features of an old granite built farmhouse we are in a great location for visiting this part of Brittany. Restored to a high standard we have retained many original features in this newly renovated property but we have also included modern finishes and provided everything needed for a successful holiday stay. If you plan to self-cater then the kitchen is well equipped but we think there are plenty of reasons for taking a break from the kitchen and enjoying the local restaurants in our area.

Many restaurants offer good value menu's especially at lunch time. This region is well know for sea food and crepes, cider and pork not to mention the wine and food of France as a whole. Moules frites, oysters and a glass of muscadet, scallops or a sea food platter, are some of the reasons you should consider this part of Brittany and our Cottage in particular for your next holiday.

Charmant cottage, parfait pour trois personnes

Accueil excellent. Nous avions un problème de voiture et notre hôte s’est proposé de faire, bénévolement, "le taxi" pour nous. L'équipement est complet et le cottage est d'un entretient facile. Bien situé dans la campagne, près des commerces de base, et proche de plus grands centres touristiques. de très bons restaurants à Lamballe: Le Prieuré, La Tête Noire.

Un gîte parfait pour nous qui participions au festival "Noir sur la ville" de Lamballe.

Peaceful countryside setting

The cottage was extremely well presented and maintained. It is on a no through country lane not very far from the village where there is a bakers and small supermarket. There is very little traffic passing the cottage which makes it ideal if you are looking for a place to relax and unwind. There are lovely views from the bedroom windows. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.

Rural cottage renovated to a very high standard, in quiet rural surroundings

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay. The cottage was well equipped and set in beautiful gardens. Stephen and Kathy made us feel very welcome and were helpful with lots of local knowledge. It was a short walk to the boulangerie, boucherie and local shop (there is also a pharmacy) in the morning which is located in Pledeliac, a small village. This is a good base for cycling and walking. This is a typically beautiful area of rural France, though quieter than other parts of Brittany, which was exactly what we wanted. Being only 50 minutes' drive from St Malo was a bonus. Highly recommended.

We have had quite a few cyclists staying this year and they have all enthused about the cycling opportunities in the area and the absence of potholes! Although everyone has been happy with the facilities we provide we are going to install a couple of cycle racks under the overhang of our workshop for guests use next year as part of our continuous effort to improve our service to guests. We won't be offering to do the rides or pump up the tyres but at least you will have them handy and ready to go when you need them!

Lovely cottage in a quiet rural setting.

We had a lovely holiday at this cottage. It is attached to the owners (Steve and Kathy) property, who are a very nice and helpful couple, without being obtrusive in any way.

The cottage is situated in a quiet, pretty village called Pledeliac. It is in a very rural setting, surrounded by fields and forest. However the village is just a stones throw away, plus a visitors farm and a wonderful castle.

The cottage has everything you need. Kathy and Steve provide a welcome pack, which is just what you need, a loaf of brioche, milk, water, Jams and condiments and a bottle of local cider. There is also some tea and coffee available.

The kitchen has every piece of equipment you could possibly want. The stove fire gives a very cosy feel to the room, but we didn't need to use it during our stay as the weather was hot. The sofa although small was comfy enough with big cushions provided.

The main bedroom was my favourite room. The views are lovely from the two big windows, overlooking the fields. It is nicely decorated and very roomy, with a fabulous walk in wardrobe attached to it.

Outside there is a patio table and chairs with a little barbecue. We didn't use this but it was a lovely idea.

There is so much to do in the surrounding areas. You can choose beaches -20min drive, forests - in Pledeliac itself or a short drive away to some historic legendary sites. There ipare also wonderful medieval towns to visit- Dinan our favourite! Also fantastic bike trails along the canal- flat and easy to cycle with such picturesque scenery.

We hope to return for sure.

A Little Gem

A delightful property on the edge of a charming village, in a quiet and rural location. Beautifully maintained and equipped. Ideally placed for exploring the nearby countryside and beaches .Most everyday essentials can be bought in the village but for a larger shop there are larger supermarkets 15 to 20 minutes drive away. There are good restaurants a short drive way. For more energetic types the quiet country lanes and forests are ideal for cycling and walking. Steve and Cathy were perfect hosts with a good knowledge of the area, helpful but not intrusive.

I would have no hesitation in recommending the cottage if you want a quiet peaceful holiday in delightful surroundings.

Fantastic cottage in a great location

This cottage is beautifully presented and immaculate, it is also very well equipped with everything you would need for a self catering holiday. The location is very peaceful and couldn't be better situated for exploring Brittany. There's loads of great places to visit all within 30 min drive from the cottage. I would defineltey recommend this cottage for a holiday and Steve and kathy are great hosts.

We deal directly with you personally for all booking arrangements and payments. We do not use or rely on any third parties for these arrangements and you deal directly with us throughout the booking and payment stages. We also supply you with our detailed terms and conditions of letting prior to your completing the booking process.
We ask for completion of a booking form prior to acceptance of a booking.
Once the booking is confirmed we require a booking/security deposit of £150.00 per calendar week or part week payable by bank transfer to a UK or euro bank account This deposit guarantees your booking and on your arrival turns into a security deposit during your stay.
Once the booking is confirmed we also ask for an initial rental payment of 50% of the rental. The balance of the holiday rental is payable 60 days before your holiday is due to commence.
Contrary to any information OD may provide in their quote we do offer refunds if cancellation is necessary. Our cancellation policy is clearly explained in our terms and conditions of letting which is supplied to all potential guests when we receive the initial enquiry. These terms and conditions of letting need to be read carefully and apply to all bookings once guests have made their initial booking payment.
Our standard rates are for two guests. A supplementary charge of £15.00 per night is payable for a third guest.

OD does not provide a category for owners to show that they offer flexible changeover days. We offer changeovers, subject to other bookings for Weekday and Saturday changeovers [but not Sundays].
