It is within easy walking distance to Christchurch town centre with its eclectic range of shops and cafes / restaurants. Walking in to Christchurch is very easy and flat all the way.

The golden sandy beach is a pleasant 30 minute walk or 4 minute drive.

About Jenny Hathaway

Hi,

I am Jenny and my husband Richard and I have two children Samuel and Katie.

Richard and I bought Marina View over three years ago and have been visiting regularly.

However, Samuel is a keen footballer and his fixtures are getting more regular so we thought we would holiday let the house for the weeks that we are not able to get down to the coast.

The house has been updated throughout to provide a perfect home from home and has a lovely sunny feel about it. We sought to create a perfect coastal retreat with all the amenities that we have at home.

The view is amazing and we have not tired of it yet! It changes seasonally and you often see swans, birds and large fish in the marina as well as the boats gilding past.

Why Jenny Hathaway chose Christchurch

We have always loved Christchurch and the surrounding area. In my twenties I used to come here all the time and stay in Southbourne at my friends house. The relaxed pace of life and multitude of things to do always meant that I would go home relaxed at any time of year.

The house is within easy reach of Christchurch and the train station on foot so we often do not use our car when we stay.

Marina View is in a lovely location on a quiet street set off the main road backing onto the marina looking over the river Stour.

By crossing the river and following it you will get to Hengistbury head a conservation area and coastal nature reserve. At the peninsula of Henigstbury head are beautiful golden sandy beaches, a restaurant and shop and the iconic beach huts overlooking the Isle of Wight.

What makes this house unique

Marina View is in an perfect location with a quiet south facing deck and balcony overlooking the marina with a number of boats bobbing about.

However it is in easy reach of all the amenities and attractions that Christchurch and the local area have to offer. With 4 supermarkets within 3 miles , numerous restaurants and shops within 1 mile and cycle paths and walks a plenty, you really will not be disappointed whatever the weather.

You could hire a small motorised boat at Christchurch Quay and take it down the river, spend a day at Adventure Wonderland Theme Park or simply relax overlooking the river with your favourite book and beverage in hand!

This property enables us to relax, forget time and just spend days chilling and enjoying time as a family and we hope that you can do this too!

We’re back home, safe and sound, after a most enjoyable week’s break in your delightful property in Christchurch. The house was fully up to our expectations ... roomy and bright, with really stylish décor - and every facility you could wish for. We particularly enjoyed the large, south facing balconies - with a lovely view of the attractive little marina. All that ... and an ideal location, right in the heart of Christchurch!



We took you up on your recommendation of The Boathouse. We so enjoyed our lunch there, that we went back again two days later for a second delicious meal - and the excellent service that went with it!



Thank you. Jenny for the wine and the biscuits - a really nice gesture. And thank you also for your warm and enthusiastic communications with me during the time leading up to our stay. It’s been a pleasure!

Notes on accommodation: The accommodation is light and airy and has been decorated in a modern coastal style providing an ideal waterfront coastal retreat. The garage accessed from the hallway offers ideal storage for Golf Clubs and any other additional Luggage. Outside: The property also features an outdoor decking area with access to the Marina. This area is ideal for BBQs and relaxation and includes a weber BBQ Dining table and Chairs a Large Outdoor beanbag. Around the corner is a beautiful grassland area with river access for fishing (permit may be required). Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble dryer and second fridge freezer to allow you to store any additional treats! Also in the garage is an ironing board and iron and a hoover. There is a selection of beach toys (buckets and spades, kites) which you are welcome to use. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The property is professionally cleaned prior to each rental. High Quality White Bed Linen and bath towels and mats are provided for your stay and are included in the rental rates. Please provide your own beach towels and Cot Linen if Required Other: A travel cot and High Chair are provided at the house, (please provide cot linen if required) A hairdryer is provided in the master bedroom.

Lovely relaxing break

The house was beautiful, nicely decorated in a seaside theme. Spotlessly clean. Lovely to sit out on the deck with a glass of wine, overlooking the Marina. Jenny kindly left us a bottle of wine, and some biscuits, which was much appreciated. would just like to mention that a small shelf in shower would be handy for shampoo etc. Am missing the house already! will try and go again next year. Thank you!

Nice House in a great location.

Although we didn't spend much time in the house it was ideal when we did! It has a really nice feel to it and having stayed in few other private houses this place doesn't have that feeling and appearance that the owners had left ten minutes before you arrive!

It's a good size, nice, clean and modern throughout with both bathrooms having been updated very recently.

The decked seating area with BBQ is also a great benefit with a great view.

I would and will recommend and also return if ever in the area.

Excellent accommodation in a great location

We stayed here with our adult children and their partners to celebrate my birthday - what a lovely weekend we had.

Marina View is one of the nicest rental properties we have stayed in. Spotlessly clean, comfortably furnished with quality furniture ( an identical sofa to what we have at home which caused amusement ) and a very well equipped kitchen. So nice to stay in a property that isn't full of a mish mash of odd crockery and cutlery that has been collected over the years!

Excellent beds and nice linen.

The weather was kind to us and we were lucky enough to sit out on the terrace and watch the boats pass by the end of the marina.

Marina View is a level 10 minute walk from Christchurch, we walked out to Heningsbury Head which is beautiful. We didn't venture further afield on this occasion but could have easily done so if we wished - parking available for two cars and the rail station close by.

We ate at Splinters in the town, booked because we left it late to book elsewhere but it was an excellent meal, the early dining deal is great value at £50 per couple for two courses and a bottle of wine. Delicious food.

A delightful holiday home

This property makes for a delightful venue - ideal for a family break in this lovely part the south coast. It’s roomy, bright and clean - with really stylish décor throughout. There are large south-facing balconies off both the living room and the ground floor bedroom, which overlook the attractive private marina …. and the house has every facility you could wish for. All this - and it’s situated close to the very heart of Christchurch!

You are spoilt for choice if you like to eat out. There are several gastro pubs in the New Forest area - a comfortable drive away - and a plentiful and varied selection nearer to home in the Christchurch area. We had two outstanding dining experiences - The Boathouse, very close by - and, a little further afield, The Jetty, in Mudeford.

Finally, the owners, Jenny and Richard, were an absolute pleasure to deal with. Warm and enthusiastic in their communications with us, they could not have been more helpful.

Great property that really met or needs.

Hengisbury head is nearby...great for country walks, jogging and cycling and leading to the fantastic sandy Mudeford beach which includes Beach House Restaurant, cafe and the iconic beach huts.

Enjoy a ride on the miniature train to the beach or ferry access to Mudeford quay where you can go crabbing or buy fresh fish.

Numerous beautiful sandy beaches at Southbourne, Hengisbury head and Bournemouth to name but a few!

Nearest beach is Southbourne (1 mile) which we allow 15-20 minutes to walk to.

Travel:

Christchurch Railway Station 0.7 miles trains to Bournemouth and Southampton and London Waterloo (3 hours Direct)

A local convenience store and fish and chip shop is located only 0.3 miles away (5 minute walk)

Dozens of take aways within 2 miles that will deliver to the house (Chinese, Pizza, Thai, Indian etc)

Marks and Spencer food is only 1 mile away, Waitrose is 1.5 miles, Sainsburys is 2.8 miles and Tesco is 2.4 miles.

Christchurch Town Centre has a large number of cafes, restaurants and bars.

To name but a few, our personal favourites are 'The Boathouse' overlooking the river and bandstand, 'James and White Restaurant' next to the Priory, 'Cheese and Alfies' (a fantastic cafe that does amazing soups and sandwiches), 'The Soho' (great for pizzas), 'Pinocchio Italian' (authentic Italian Restaurant), 'The Kings Head' (great for food and cocktails), 'Costa coffee', 'The Manor', Burton (brilliant carvery roast but is a 2 mile drive from the house), 'The Beach House' at Mudeford (accessible via ferry from Christchurch Quay, small train from Southbourne or bikes or walking), 'The Captains Club Hotel' (0.5 miles) and finally the 'Jetty' Restaurant in the Christchurch Harbour Hotel (2.8 miles away but worth the effort!)

The 'Adventure Wonderland Theme Park' is only 4.3 miles away and fantastic day out if you have a young family. Winner of the Bournecoast Top Childrens Attraction it has rides, pirates ship, pony rides and Alice in Wonderland themed attractions (our children, age 7 and 5 love it!!)

Bournemouth and all that it has to offer (Oceanarium, gardens, museums, galleries) is only 4.6 miles away or a 10 minute train journey.

Quomps splash park is only 0.5 miles from the house providing great fun for the children!

Spa treatments

If you fancy a bit of pampering there is plenty of choice. Both the Captains Club hotel (5 minute walk) and the Christchurch Harbour Hotel (15-20 minute drive) have luxurious spas where you can spent a day or part thereof.

Following an enquiry, to secure a booking a 25% deposit is payable.
The balance of money is due 45 days prior to arrival.
If you cancel prior to 45 days before your holiday you will only lose your deposit.
If the balance payment is not received at least 40 days before the holiday starts, the booking will be automatically cancelled.

Changeover Day:
The changeover day is FRIDAY generally but may be changed to another day out of season.
Short breaks are available excluding July and August when the minimum stay is 7 nights.
3 nights stays are charged at approximately 70% of the weekly rate and 4 nights at 80% of the weekly rate.This is subject to availability
