Apartment Gemina is set in a beautiful location in a prestigious new development within the sought after area of Ortaalan, in Kalkan, which is below the D400.

This modern and well appointed property became available for its first guests in 2015 and offers a comfortable and spacious open plan lounge, dining area and high specification kitchen together with three large bedrooms - two doubles (one en suite) and one twin. The property has been built to a very high standard, and its design offers a more tranquil and private setting than you might expect from an apartment. The large outside space provides ample room to relax by the poolside, enjoy al fresco dining and also the opportunity to try out your cooking skills on the custom built BBQ whilst enjoying the panoramic views. There are x6 sun loungers, x4 parasols and x4 beanbags to ensure that there is ample opportunity for everyone to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Follow us @KalkanGemina

Should you wish to dine out, the centre of Kalkan is a pleasant 10 minute walk away and the harbour is a further short walk through the winding streets of the beautiful old town. Both the old town and harbour area offer a wide variety of restaurants to suite all tastes and according to the Sunday Times “Kalkan attracts the kind of visitors who would also enjoy Tuscany or the Dordogne.” It has also been likened to the Italian Riviera without the poseurs!

It is also a good location to ensure that you experience the weekly market, with all that it has to offer.

There are plenty of day trips to local sights from Kalkan including daily boat excursions around the coast and the opportunity to visit the local mountain villages. The area is steeped in history with easy access to the Lycian Way (walking route). Patara Beach (17kms of sandy beach) is a short drive away and also has some Roman ruins which you can visit. Not far from Patara is the Roman ruins of Xanthos, and most people enjoy a visit to the nearby Saklikent Gorge which is the 3rd largest in Europe.You can walk the gorge as far as the waterfall, or for the less adventurous, why not just sit and watch the world go by with a cool beer dangling your feet in the water from the restaurants that overhang the waters edge.

Kalkan bay also offers a variety of beach clubs which can be easily accessed via free water taxis, and provide high quality facilities (including water sports and restaurants) and the opportunity to swim in the clear blue waters. If you are lucky you may even spot one of the local turtles.

I live in South East England with my husband and teenage children. We have travelled widely, and been to other parts of Turkey, but fell in love with Kalkan when we stayed there for the first time in 2014. The old town is so pretty and authentic yet offers high quality restaurants and boutiques without being pretentious. Kalkan is the perfect location, away from the crowds, for a relaxing holiday and a good base to explore the Turquoise coast and surrounding mountains.

We will be visiting the apartment in the spring to add some finishes touches, and again in the summer. We hope you really enjoy your stay with us and come back again

Fantastic apartment in great location

We travel to Turkey quite often and up to now have always stayed around the Olu Deniz, Hisaronnu or Ovacik areas, however we fancied a change this year and whilst searching this website, came across Samantha and Jon's apartment and read the fantastic reviews associated with it. If that didn't sway us, as soon as we contacted Samantha and Jon on the phone then their enthusiasm and helpfulness certainly did, it was like speaking to a friend id known for years and they certainly made the transaction very easy.

The apartment itself is built and maintained to a very high quality with all the comforts needed to make it a home from home, including a midweek clean and linen/towel change. The location is absolutely ideal for the area, on the right side of the main road in a serene and peaceful olive grove with fantastic views either across the mountains or down into the bay.

Just a 5 min walk down the little private road and you are at the main Kalkan bus station, where you can catch a bus or Dolmus (minibus) to virtually anywhere in turkey. We went to Fethiye for the day ( 15TL each and 1.5hrs) and to Kas (6TL each and 30 mins)

The private pool is well maintained and is great for non swimmers or children as it is all one level (approx. 4ft deep)

It took us (mid 50's) approx. 15-20 mins to walk down the hill into Kalkan and a taxi back was about 10Tl inc the tip (approx. £2.50), or you can order a taxi direct to the door using the mobile phone provided (another great provision from the owners)

Kalkan itself is absolutely beautiful with its numerous restaurants and fantastic little shops, you could visit there for many years and not eat at the same restaurant and they are all fantastic.

I would thoroughly recommend visiting Kalkan and without question staying at Samantha and Jon's lovely apartment.

An amazing luxurious apartment with amazing views in a suburb location.

This is our third year in Kalkan and have to say Apartment Gemina is by far the most suburb. The apartment is decorated to a very high standard and has everything there too make your holiday extremely relaxing. We especially enjoyed the outside space, swimming in the lovely pool which was a good size. We also enjoyed cooking lots of fresh fish on the bbq. The apartment has breath taking views up into the mountains and down towards the sea. It is in an ideal location, only a ten minute walk down to the shops and suburb restaurants. We particularly enjoyed the pancakes in the small restaurant just round the corner. We had a fantastic boat trip on the Falcon, swimming in amazing clear waters and enjoying a really good lunch. Also had a good day in Kas taking a small boat to the local beach club. Samantha has been a fantastic help, keeping us well informed. I would thoroughly recommend this apartment.

Best place to stay in Kalkan

We come to Kalkan a lot (5 times in the last year) and whenever we can we stay at Samantha’s. There is nowhere else we know that has such an ideal combination of apartment quality, beautiful views, serene location and proximity to town. You’re on the right side of the road in an olive grove with little surrounding development and can enjoy beautiful views up the hill and down to the bay. The apartment is built, furnished and maintained to a very high standard and the private pool is great. Samantha herself couldn’t be more helpful and accommodating. We agree with the rest of the reviewers – this apartment is highly recommended as the best place we’ve found in Kalkan.

Superb stay in Kalkan

We know Kalkan very well and have stayed in many properties over the years we have been visiting but this was one of our favourites. The apartment is situated within easy reach of all the amenities and had everything we needed for a perfect holiday. The pool was a good size for a family and the apartment itself was incredibly well resourced.

It was scrupulously clean and well maintained throughout the week. The apartment is relatively new and so is modern and smart. Samantha had added many extra touches to make the holiday even more relaxing like robes in the bathroom and a juicer for fresh orange each morning in the kitchen.

Samantha was brilliant in all the correspondence. Clear and informative at all times.

I would thoroughly recommend this property to friends and relatives, we have already booked again for next year!

If you eat out then you must try 'Small House.' (Traditional home-cooked Turkish food from a lovely husband and wife team) Hard to get into but book in advance of your holiday and ask for the balcony. (There is only one table so wonderfully romantic)

Amazing apartment in a hidden gem of a location.

We have been to Turkey a number of times but this was by far and away the best holiday in Turkey we have ever had. The apartment was just amazing with every conceivable thing you could want. The photos do not do the place justice. We couldn't believe how spacious the whole place was and so so comfortable. The pool area is great for relaxing and the pool although not massive, was great for the 6 of us to enjoy a dip. The owners have furnished the apartment beautifully and the little touches like providing pool towels mean they have overlooked nothing. Kalkan itself is a hidden gem of a place where the locals are the most friendly of all people we have ever met in Turkey. Unlike other places, you are never hassled in shops or restaurants. We will definitely be going back.

Our favourite apartment in Kalkan

We've stayed in Kalkan many times but this has been our favourite apartment by far. The apartment is perfectly situated in an olive grove with views both up the hill and down to the sea. So nice is the location that it was an effort to drag ourselves away from the balcony and the lovely pool area to go anywhere else. The setting is quiet and private but close to great restaurants, convenient for supermarkets and not too far from town. The property is modern and very bright, benefitting from large windows and glass doors so you can enjoy the view even indoors. It was also spotlessly cleaned and frequently serviced. The owners are very helpful and provide all information required to enjoy your stay to the maximum. My only reservation in writing this review is that others will flock to stay there thus making it harder for us to book it agan! Seriously recommended for an excellent stay in Kalkan - we will return again and again.

This is a brand new apartment situated among olive groves and offers mountain views to the rear , and sea views to the front. There is a 10 minute walk down to the town centre and the harbour is a further short walk through the winding streets of the beautiful old town. It is also a good location for the weekly market . A car is not essential as all amenities are walking distance and taxi's are cheap and easy to hire. The 3 bedroomed property offers high quality modern and spacious accommodation for 6 people There is a large outside patio area with a private pool, outside shower and a brick built barbecue.

Coast/Beach:

Situated along the Mediterranean Coast, also known as the Turquoise or Lycian Coast, Kalkan is frequently referred to as the Turkish Riviera. The nearest beach is 4km away and is surrounded by the Tauras Mountains. Kalkan combines the stunning sea views with an equally stunning mountains as a rugged backdrop. 30 mins East is the small town of Kas, or 1 hour West is the larger town of Fethiye. The whole coastline is dramatic due to the mountains and sea.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Dalaman, approximately 1hr 30 minutes from Kalkan. The journey is a beautiful, scenic drive through the mountains and along the coast. We can assist with the organisation of transfers in private, air-conditioned vehicles to and from the airport.

Distances:

Kalkan old town and harbour are a 10 to 15 minute walk from the apartment. There are plenty of taxis available if you would prefer for the journey back. The larger town of Kas is a stunning 30 min drive away. Visit Saklikent Gorge (30 mins) and walk through part of the 900 foot deep ravine, finishing with local trout served in cushion lined tree houses built over the river. The Lycian cities and Unesco world heritage sites of Patara, Xanthos and Letoon are also within easy reach.

A welcome basket of basic provisions is provided upon arrival. Other: Large sun terrace with outside dining table for 6, 6 sun loungers,4 parasols, 4 bean bags and an infinity style pool, brick built BBQ and outside shower.
