Beautifully Renovated Pet Friendly Cottage - Sleeps 4/5. Great reviews.

Overview

Property

Updated: 28-Nov-2016
Cottage in Pendeen, Cornwall, Poldark Country! Close to Penzance and St Ives, in The Centre Of A Peaceful Cornish Village, Close To Many Great Beaches

Trevow was lovingly renovated and refurbished in 2014 providing a holiday home from home to an exceptional standard. Set in a terrace of cottages and less than one minute walk to a winner of the CAMRA pub of the year, The North Inn Pub.

We bought Trevow in June 2014. We spent six months carefully overseeing its transformation from a beautiful, but tired, damp, cold miner’s cottage into the comfortable home you find today. The entire house was gutted down to the original granite stone and then bit by bit, rebuilt and refurbished.

We wanted some luxuries and a lot of comfort. We hope you find everything you need, but are always looking out for ideas. The cottage includes super broadband wifi, HD Smart TV, central heating, sumptuous honeymoon shower, a log burning stove, king sized sleigh bed in the master room, recently landscaped rear garden space, along with many, many more touches.

Downstairs finds the living room, kitchen, and bathroom to the rear of the property, whilst upstairs brings you two singles and a master bedroom. We provide a cot, high chair and additional bed to sleep 5.

There is ample parking to the front and to the rear of the cottage. The cottage is the perfect base for you to explore this beautiful part of Western Cornwall. Trevow is steeped in history, but many modern comforts and extra special features are provided to make your holiday as enjoyable as possible. Visit Geevor or Levant Tin & Copper mine, Cornwall's No1 Mining Centre, both within walking distance, where many scenes from the recent BBC Series 'Poldark' were shot. At Geevor you can take an underground tour, at Levant, experience the Beam steam engine. Pendeen has its very own lighthouse and you can walk to it from the cottage, on misty days you can even hear it boom. Ancient Monuments are easily found. Just 10 mins drive from the cottage, will bring you two of the most well known – Men-an-Tol and Lanyon Quoit, up on the moors where you can get the most wonderful views too. National Trust properties abound, particularly Trengwainton Gardens at Madron and magical St Michael’s Mount in Mount’s Bay, Penzance, are nearby and wonderful places to explore. Galleries everywhere, painting, ceramics, sculpture, jewellery and more. Penlee House Museum in Penzance, features work from the famous ‘Newlyn School’ and Lamorna group of artists (1800-1930). Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum house exciting Contemporary Art collections, and are just another reason to visit the fascinating harbour-town of St Ives, a jewel in the rugged north coast. A must is a visit to the atmospheric cliff-top Minack Theatre at Porthcurno (a beautiful beach here too). Experience Shakespeare, a musical or even a Roald Dahl story, in the open air, under the stars. And of course coves, beaches and harbours, what Cornwall is famous for. Portheras Cove is the nearest, a secluded sandy cove only accessible by foot. Sennen beach in Whitesand Bay, a world renowned perfect place for surfing the waves. Mousehole, just over to the south is a picture-perfect harbour, not to be missed. Pendeen, has an excellent Village Stores, Cafe, Fish and Chip Shop, Post Office, Pottery and a Farmer's Market held the first and third Saturday every month, all within three minutes walking distance of the cottage. further information at www.cornish-holiday-cottage.co.uk

About the Owner

Helen Tumbridge is a Television Producer, working in Light Entertainment for many years for both BBC and ITV. Gary Moyes is a freelance photographer working mainly in TV, Film and Location Photography. Many of his photographs are on display in the property.

Both Helen and Gary enjoyed many childhood holidays in Cornwall, and have taken their own children to this beautiful part of the world every year for the past fourteen years.

They wanted to buy a property in which to stay when they could, and to offer to other couples and families to enjoy everything they love about Cornwall. The people, the coastline, the beaches and the pubs.

Lovely little place made all the better by the easy to follow guide to the area and home. Beautiful minimal but homely design. Very helpful owner (Helen) who checked all was well throughout the holiday. Though not a specifically disabled enabled property we managed just fine as there is room to manoeuvre (though use of a wheelchair in the home is not possible- Helen did make this known before booking). Quiet and lovely views of the sea from the back bedrooms. I feel in love with the wooden shutters on each bedroom window!!!! Thank you Will likely be back.

Lovely quiet cottage for a break

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Pendeen. We could walk out to a pub in the evening for dinner. The cottage is well located for exploring south west Cornwall. We had a day in St. Ives, a day touring Sennen Bay and then Penzance and Michael's Mount and a day walking too and exploring the Geevor Mine. We managed a few walks along the Coastal Path each day to different bays. It is a beautiful area with every corner bring a new view of a rigged coast.

The cottage is well stocked. Not too cluttered but with comfortable chairs, every kitchen tool and gadget you might need, large fridge and plenty of dishes. We only ate breakfast there but if it had been summer and we could have sat outside in the courtyard or if we had a bigger group would have eaten at the cottage. The Central heating worked well and the cottage was warm. The two back bedrooms have views of the bay. The master bedroom is large and comfortable. The TVs in both bedroom and lounge have plenty of channels and work well. We were impressed with the quality of internet we watched Netflix each evening without difficulty. The bathroom is on the ground floor which i thought might be a nuisance for my husband as he has to get up in the night but it didn't seem to be a problem and we loved the shower.

We were only a couple visiting for four days but we enjoyed our stay and found everything we needed. The welcome pack of milk, biscuits and and tea was much appreciated.

Lovely cottage in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage in an ideal location for beeches and St Ives. North Inn steps away with a great local feel but no late night noise.

Cottage is well equipped and cosy with luxurious touches much appreciated. We enjoyed the local cove of portheras on a couple of evenings, truly stunning and well worth the 10 minute walk down.

E cel lent communication with Helen we would highly recommend this lovely cottage.

Lovely

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Trevow for a week in June 2016 and really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is lovely and tastefully decorated and accessorised in keeping with the area. Helen was highly attentive and we would certainly re-book if we return to Cornwall. We bought the ranger bus tickets for a week for £25 (adult) and the area is well connected with a bus stop very close.

Recommended.

Wonderful little Cornish cottage in good location with a very friendly owner

  • 5 of 5

This typical cornish cottage is well equipped and absolutely comfortable !

The location in Pendeen is also a good choice is you don't want to have a not so busy location like e.g. Penzance or others but nevertheless have next to the cottage a very good inn, a costcutter within 2 minutes to go and a few other things like cafe/fish and chips or e.g. the Geevor tin mine (museum) for a short trip from 2 hours up to a day (very interesting). Also the lighthouse or Portheras Cove you can reach in a couple of minutes by feet.

Further on the location is central for visits to Penzance/Mousehole/Marazion/St. Just/Land's End or Minack theatre. (and many more..)

Also to remember is the nice owner and its great service and the recommendations directly or within the flyer. The whole package is really a 5 star review worth in our opinion. Many thanks to Helen !

Location

From the Owner

We looked for months, looking at many properties in Cornwall, but Trevow was the only one that felt like home. It needed a lot of work to bring it to how you'll find it now. The entire house was gutted back to the original granite stone and then bit by bit rebuilt. We love Pendeen, the people are friendly and we've never yet seen a traffic jam. We love nearby Portheras Cross Beach; through our work we have both been to many beaches around the world, we both think this is the best by far. St Michael's Mount is just stunning at any time of day and we never tire of the thrill of walking across the causeway to reach the island. St Ives is beautiful year round, New Year's Eve is especially fantastic with everyone wandering the streets in fancy dress before fireworks at midnight.

Facilities

From the Owner

Trevow has all the character of a traditional Cornish Cottage, but now with many home comforts we feel you just can't live without. We've tried to make it as homely as possible, books, games, jigsaws and DVDs are all there to enjoy. And, even though you're about as far South West as you can possibly go, if you feel the need to stay in touch with the outside world, our wifi will allow you to. The walk in shower is fantastic, pure luxury and the wood burner creates the cosiest of living rooms to sit and enjoy a glass of wine or two.
